I’m glad you’re comparing the “appearance” of the trail on other videos with the reality that you find. Very useful! Happy hiking!

Biscuts and gravy is one of my favorites. Reminds me of eating breakfast in the Ranger Dinning Facility at Ft. Benning.

When you get to the section of trail near Lone Pine (lateral trails to the PCT are Cottonwood Pass to Horseshoe Meadows, and the trail from Crabtree Meadow over Trail Crest to Whitney Portal), I highly recommend stopping by the Alabama Hills Cafe. They're only a breakfast and lunch kinda restaurant, but I love their biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos, pancakes, and club sandwiches.

Last year that 2nd water crossing was waist deep and smelled like sewage. I did it at 7pm and the temps dipped down to 25F. I ended up sleeping in the pit toilet room at Boulder Oaks that night as it’s heated until about midnight. 😂

@@lilchaphikes Oh, the PCT will throw the highest of highs and the lowest of lows at you. Never a dull moment. 😺

Whitney matches y'all too, she's got the same colour sun hoodie. Maybe you could make an entire troop of hikers all dressed the same 😂😊

Forgot you all are in a new time zone - Makes for early rising! The mountains are a beautiful background. Hope you found a good place for the cold weather.

Interesting watching you and Road Runner hike the PCT. I am not familiar with the trail or area at all, and I am sure by the end of your journey I will know considerably more about the trail and terrain. So far, it is not what I expected as far as terrain and vegetation. Safe journeys for you and Road Runner.

Pretty day. The water crossings were pretty funny with the different hikers.

Manzanita means "little apple" in Spanish. The genus name is Arctostaphylos, which loosely translated from Greek means "bear grapes." The name comes from the three arctic species, which are called "bearberries." You will be seeing Manzanitas all the way to the border of Canada.

Are you a botanist? Or just real plant-smart?
@memathews10 ай бұрын
@@lilchaphikesAs you move farther north from arid conditions to much wetter conditions, manzanita bushes are replaced by madrone trees, a much larger related plant that has similar bark and coloration.
