I still can't get over the fact that such a modern looking car with all the new techs utilising a torsion beam rear suspension set up? And for that asking price?? It's no longer a bargain if one look past the skin!

From hardware’s perspective yes. But nowadays more and more expensive car are using torsion beam setup at the rear suspension as well. Mazda as an example. But I still prefer the old multilink as the price suggest.

@AnthonyLoh The use of torsion beam suspension set up is a cost cutting effort by car makers, and the luxury car brands like Merc and BMWs only spec this set up for their entry level models. Whereas the higher specced models either utilises multilink or a double wishbone set up. So that already proves that the torsion beam is a cheaper alternative. So better be a smart consumer and should take Mazda's engineer's reason to choose torsion beam as a preferred set-up with a grain of salt! Lol

@@nickloong True. But most consumer not as knowledgeable on car technical stuff. Or for daily drive the impact is not as high (most of driver are).

@AnthonyLoh That's why Malaysian car buyers must have basic knowledge of these kind of things so that they won't be taken advantage of. These acts of profiteering must be put under control before car manufacturers start removing the good stuff from all the affordable and so-called bread and butter models.✌️

@@nickloongThe more buyer understands this is better. But some just won’t care. As long as it is good to drive for them it is alright. Usually small amount of enthusiast only will brag on this 😂

How's the acceleration? I find it funny that the quoted figure is only 0.5s faster than Peugeot 2008 given the more powerful engine. Heavier perhaps?

Yes. It is heavy. So probably the reason the over 200HP not really felt.

Fun fact in Europe there's a 1.2 engine used for the 408.
