I knew this was going to be a fantastic response, and half way in it doesn't disappoint. And, as usual, I put so much on my want list so far. Back shortly to catch the second half Pete, but this is absolutely brilliant.

Hi Pete! Brilliant job on this response! I learn so much from these videos (so much of the European stuff never made it to the States) and your selections were outstanding. You've convinced me to give Magma/MDK a shot (they have always intimidated me) because I trust you and your judgment. Thanks for jumping on this and creating such a great response. I've added it to the prog tag playlist on my channel with the others. Cheers! -Alex

Give Magma a listen on line before purchasing Alex - they're not for everyone! Thanks again for putting this together - I really enjoyed doing it. The playlist will be a great help - really want to check out other people's responses and that way I won't have to search for them. All the best... Pete

Great tag response Pete! Some day I want that Hatfield and North on vinyl. Love seeing some eastern European band of some vintage. Have to check out that Hungarian album. Interesting story on rev. No. 9. You might have given me an indirect idea on that question if I do the tag. Hammill is it for me as well. Something makes the world a little more alright when I listen to him. Take care, Richard

Thanks Richard. You definitely need Hatfield & The North in your collection - wonderful Canterbury prog. Now you have me intrigued on what your proto-prog answer would be - please do a response. Hammill can be a difficult listen for many, but his is a totally unique voice. Cheers...Pete

@@soundsfromthewestcoast9939 I am working on responses. Hopefully I will get to record within the next few days. A seemingly small but could be spendy water leak in the house has derailed normal life for a bit, but this is good diversion. Thanks to you and John for nudging.

I'm enjoying your answers Pete. Glad to see David Bowie make an appearance. Maybe I've said before how I like to play the Diamond Dogs album back to back with VDGG album Pawn Hearts because I think they sound so similar. At least they do to my ears anyway. Wow, a new Yes album. And you say it's good. I missed that. I'm just listening to the Mirror to the Sky track now on YT and it does sound pretty good. Magma frighten me. I find them so intimidating. I may have said before that I have a small box set of their music, Theusz Hamtaahk - Trilogie I think it is, and it scares me to even look at it. They just seem so dark and ominous. Doesn't their music give you nightmares? I would me... if I dared to pay it. LOL

Hi John, can't say I've noticed the similarity between Diamond Dogs and Pawn Hearts, but next time I play one of them I'll follow it up with the other and see if I agree. I was surprised by the new Yes Album- it was never going to match the output from the 70s, but it's IMO an enjoyable good album. I don't blame you being daunted by Magma. I bought MDK very early in my music listening life and I'd never heard anything that sounded anything like them. I didn't even know if I liked it, but kept being drawn back to it and soon it became a favourite Bite the bullet John 😁!

Thanks for the interesting review. I recently started getting into progressive rock. Of all this, only Yes, Genesis and Camel are on the shelf. Of course, I know Klaus Schulz from his early albums. There are a lot of new names. Especially rare releases from Belgium. Thank you for the video.

Hi Pete, Maybe next year we could gather some questions together and issue the prog tag between us. I'm often a little disappointed with some of the questions in these tags sometimes. Not all of them, but I find some questions are pretty much the same each year. I'll watch the rest of this Tag video a little later and comment. Cheers

Hi John, I'd definitely be up for that. The difficult thing can be making the questions accessible to everyone eg no use asking people to show an album from Venezuala - they have to have a good chance of answering the question. If you have any thoughts pass them on to me. Cheers...Pete

@@soundsfromthewestcoast9939Thanks Pete for a very enjoyable video, as always. Just a little leftfield idea for you (and other taggers): Why not a VC tag where you need to choose to answer which 15 out of 20 questions you will answer (just example numbers). In that way, the Q’s can be made to be more obscure, which might freshen things up a little. Just a thought. Keep well!
@soundsfromthewestcoast9939
@soundsfromthewestcoast9939 8 ай бұрын
@@mike_burke It might be an idea Mike. You want as many people to take part as possible so you have to make the questions relatable and answerable by most, but that does run the risk of using the same questions over and over again. I suppose participants don't actually have to answer every question - there are no hard and fast rules. It's those that have done a number of tags in the past that are most likely be affected by the repetition of questions across tags. Might be worth putting out the suggestion to the VC in general.

We had to differ eventually. I can't stand Night at the Opera! 😝 I like Queen's first 2 albums, and some of the third. After that, no thanks.

I actually like all the Queen albums up to the live album, though the first 3 are my favourites. Nearly went for Black Queen but Prophet's Song is superb and their proggiest. Don't worry I used to people disagreeing with me because not everyone can have my level of good taste 😁!

@@soundsfromthewestcoast9939 I confess that I only heard Night at the Opera once. I already hated Bohemian Rhapsody (albeit now I think there's a good 3 minute single in there), and I thought the rest of the album was even worse. Having said that, reappraisal of things I formed an option of several decades ago has been a big thing for me in the last 10-12 years, so maybe I'll change my mind. I did reassess KISS a couple of years back. I still describe them as 'painted mediocrity!' 😆 Also, with Genesis, I used to dismiss everything after Peter Gabriel left. Now I dismiss everything after Steve Hackett left. 🙂

@@davebrzeski I've been the same Dave there are bands / genres that I wouldn't give time to before which are now I'm starting to enjoy. Never bothered with Kiss at all - maybe I should give them a try. Genesis I'm with you - post Wind & Wuthering there's one or two decent tracks but that's it.
