which engine version is more reliable ? diesel or petrol (2.0). In addition, any engine changes/enhancements between 2020 model and 2024 ? thanks

From what I’ve heard petrol are better for that, don’t quote me on that though, and as far as engine changes I’m unsure, was more just reviewing the car in hand :)

Yes.

Not sure why someone had to say something as stupid as that, when they're into automotive. Saying awful smelling, messy diesel --- that is not even available in every gas station --- is better than electric is like saying early 1900 typewriters are better than modern day word processors. The level of silliness is just not normal.

Surely the elephant in the room was the Ingenium engine? Are they still using that, which is possibly the most unreliable engine around! Which is a real shame as the car is lovely……

They do still use it I believe, guess long term ownership would be an issue but if it’s lease or something along those lines, not too bad. You’re right though top quality car, made in the UK too which is nice (forgot to mention that).

Not true - maybe you have been listening to too many You Tube 'experts'. When the Ingenium was first introduced for model year 2016, diesel was still being pushed as a planet saver with low road tax. Mine from 2015 is £35 pa. A lot were thus mis-sold to school run users who should never have bought a diesel in the first place. Unless you are willing to change the oil every 5000 miles max, use premium fuel, or do regular longer journeys, stay away. The transverse installations in the 2016 - 2019 Disco Sport and Evoque was particularly sensitive as the DPF is further away from the block, unlike the longitudinal installations in the XE, XF, Disco, F Pace etc. Stretched timing chains also arise from the above usage, which is why they were fitted with upgraded ones from 2019 on. All modern emissions driven diesels suffer from similar issues to one degree or another. At 1800 rpm, you are doing 80mph, and my XE returns over 60 mpg at 70-75. Considering that by 2020 over 1.5 million 2.0 litre ingeniums had been produced, it's not surprising that there is plenty of material for the click baiters to get hold of. I'd have a new one without a second thought.
