Day 1 Recap: Roar Before the Rolex 24 at Daytona; Pipo Derani, Cadillac tops final practice
DAYTONA BEACH - So much for the peace and quiet.
Around here, that's a good thing, because fast cars, and the roaring engines that make them fast, put us on the map.
Appropriately, they call it the "Roar." In the jungle, it signals potential action of an unwelcome sort. Here, it signals action and maybe a whiff of danger, but mostly it trumpets the beginning of a new year of auto racing.
The 62nd running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona next weekend (Jan. 27-28) jumpstarts the international season. But first, there are three days of ultimate shakedown efforts as 59 teams prep their machinery for the 24-hour endurance classic - "Roar Before the Rolex 24," it's called on the official literature and T-shirts at Daytona International Speedway. The Rolex 24 is sanctioned and operated by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), the sports-car arm of Daytona Beach-based NASCAR. IMSA's marquee series is its WeatherTech Championship, which includes four classes of cars competing in the Rolex 24 and throughout the 2024 season.

Unfortunately I'll be skipping the 24 this year I'm going to wwe royal rumble in town so never been so I'm going with the fam but I'll be uploading nascar coverage once they roll in to town

The C8 GT3R sounds much better than the C8.R GTE did. I still miss that rumbling ground pounding sound from the Corvettes though. I'm at least glad that the Ford Mustangs have that American V8 sound to them.

Mustang didn't sound good from my view tbh but the issue at hand stopping gtlm class was car manufacturers were tired of money spending I just hope this doesn't collapse imsa there back with fans so don't fix anything that doesn't need to be corvettes sound good but 2011 to 2017 ah were the best I was hoping to see hyper cars but maybe next year they tested at daytona

The Mustang is by far one of the best sounding car of the group, it's also one of the loudest, tho that's barely saying much since past race cars were allowed to be way louder, this is highly restricted due to regulations as is most of the cars performance attributes in general

Im going the 21st sunday here bc my grandpa know the one of the drivers i think the yellow cadellalac, and im also going to the 500 for the first time so can anyone give me tips?
