@@TommyWalnuts Hi, i got myself this just recently and went to Japan, English Japan Translation is one of the few (actually there are ~ 18 pairs) language pair that offers offline translation. In general it's faster to translate using this device compared to google translate.. for example when i was exiting the train station in Osaka apparently i can't go out of the train station for some reason (i was using some Osaka Pass, and that exit is beyond the coverage of the osaka train pass). i went to the train office and immediately grab this in my pocket, press the "on" button, and you are ready to translate within few seconds... very spontaneous... i compared it when i went down and bought something in 7/11, the counter staff has zero english so i went to grab my phone. unlock the phone. then the app is buried somewhere so i swiped down, typed translate to search for the app... clicked on it... loading screen... (it was already in English Japanese) hit the mic and spoke... then 1-2 seconds there was translation... i have to manually press the "speaker" icon to play the translation.... when the person wanted to reply, i have to swap the language setting to Japanese English... and press the mic button to record her reply... this machine got 2 mic button immediately on the screen, 1 for each language. Again, by all means outcome was the same, i managed to send my message and received a response.. all good.. but the "ease" of doing so was more convenient using the gadget. i managed to say my piece in ~ 3 seconds, while in google translate probably will take me 8-10 seconds... 5 seconds difference looks brief but it's actually 5 seconds of dead air. it's just my opinion of course and i have been using google translate since i can remember..

You get the advantage of paying a subscription fee in 2 years time when the sub runs out. Why get something for free when you can pay for it? lol 😅

Looks to me that the dedicated colored buttons means you can just leave it on a table and once the people understand the bottom is for them and that ones for they can just grab it and use it. I could see it being beneficial at my girlfriend’s families dinner table where they all speak Japanese in a circle

Thanks for this excellent review. I looked this iFlyTek translator and noticed it has hotspot function. Have you had a chance to connect it to your phone via hotspot?

the built in data can't be shared via hotspot. but if you insert a simcard, you can actually use that data from your simcard into hotspot

You say you only pay once and never pay again, However then you say 2 year free subscription what are you talking. Sounds like you're a fast talker. Be aware everyone this Going to cost you later on after 2 years.listen to him talk fast.
