I bought it. Got it last week. Feels good. Not to heavy. I bought the 200 as well. And used points to get about 30 bucks off. I became a digitaka member when they launched there new system.

You probably got the 2021 scorpion MD 300 version instead of the 2024. You can see the difference on the side plate.

It's literally the curado m ...it just has a core solid body. Same reason the metanium and bantam are so much smaller than their previous models.

I have it. It's nice and compact for a 300. The dial is stiff, and the spool release is more stout. Looks good, it's a bit heavy..

I agree with you that the new Shimano Scorpion MD 300 is very similar with Bantam. Body size is similar with Curado 200 with deeper spool and more drag washer to give more powerful breaking. Probably this model is in between Curado and Tranx series so it can use both fresh water and salt water with no worries of body corrosion as well as a better quality of ball bearings than Curado. I'm waiting once you receive the item, test and teardown to see the complete parts. Thanks in advance 🙏👍

Thanks for the reminder! Without a doubt, I want to order this reel at the start of sales. I expect to get a long-range cast of large baits that can outrun the tatula 300 and tranx 300.

Well, just got mine today here in Osaka. I think only fishing 8 had it. Fishing max didnt. Price was about 29,800 yen with taxes included. Store had tax free exemptions for non Japanese citizens so cam out to about 27880 yen all in for me so about 177.00 us$ at todays rate.

I would get one for my pike fishing BUT it is only available in an extremely high IPT.. 41".. THAT does not work with glidebaits that I primarily fish. It will probably work real good with ~10" jointed glidebaits but I only fish jointed and unjointed gliding baits up to 8" and for the most time only 5"-7" glidebaits as my waters are in bad shape and primarily produce jack pikes at around 20" with occasionally some 30" and rarely 40" ones. This will change when I am vehicle borne again but the IPT just makes all my good baits unusable to reel jerk, and rod jerking with such a high line intake will require very small movements after every jerk as just touching the knob will have 8" of line taken. I think this is a dumb move from Shimano Japan, as it will be fairly specific to just very very large baits. It should atleast come with a ITP of 30-32". That is usable for my baits. So no, I won't buy this reel. I will wait for the new Curado gen. Tranx are hideously more expensive in Sweden too a Curado 300K. Almost double the price... In Japan it isn't that much more and either in USA. So I dont get it at all. If it comes in tranx first I'll probably buy from Japan then with your 25% tax on the Japanese price AND shipping, we also pay 25% tax on.. So dumb to pay tax on shipping. What the F.. and then it is nearing the Swedish price I would guess. I don't think Curado 300M will have that Coresolid body, and I don't think next gen Tranx will either. I think this is a one off with Coresolid body. It is a more costly way of producing a reel, machining it from a solid block of aluminium. Curados are supposed to be workhorse reels with a fair price. The Trans might get this body tho. Maybe.

I do have to say im disappointed in Shimano customer service. I have a factory mess up on curado 71 mgl spool and dude didn't listen to me at all. Just said part number and buy a new spool. I have one with a chunk missing on the left side that is protected by the frame. Zero corrosion. First time out of many curados ive been disappointed

And a second question is do you pay duty on the reel when you ship it to the US or is the purchase price the final price? Looks like its going to be the perfect reel to tackle 20lb tiger fish here in Zambia along the Zambezi!!
