2024 sketchbook tour 🎨freelance artist edition

Hey friends! I have finally (at the ripe old age of 30!) finished my first ever sketchbooks! I'm so excited to share my progress with paint, pencil and pen with you. Sketchbooking truly changed my relationship with art, helped me loosen up and enjoy the process, and encouraged me to try out new mediums. I hope you enjoy a little peek into my illustration work over the last year!

Haha, I know just what you mean, talking about that first piece and worrying you would never be able to do it again. I feel that so much. 😆 Of course you did so much great work. Congratulations on the accomplishment! I loved those grasses, and all the botanicals/plants. And those vases with white pen. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much, that’s so kind! I used the muji gel ink ball point pen for most of it - I loveeee these pens and have them in a bunch of colours!

Beautiful colour sense in your work. Be Ohuhu are good and a lot cheaper than copic. Did you know you can brush blend oil pastels? Even add turps. Try a limited palette with oil pastels and try blending say yellow to orange and kind of forget about shadows. I love that metallic watercolour!

Oooooh I've had my eye on Ohuhu for a while but they always seem to be sold out - next time I catch them available I'm going to snag some. Thank you for the tips for the pastels! I'm going to give that a go and do a few swatch/simple shape exercises. Pastels are the bane of my existence but they are so beautiful, so I really want to work out how to work with them 🥲 Thanks! The metallic watercolours are from The Goldleaf Factory - I think they might be 'Finetec' but I can't totally remember anymore!
