I mean, a lot of what she did for the people was just... making them more boringly conventionally attractive. Give them all pointy cutesy upturned noses, make the eyebrows into that weird unnatural shape that is in fashion right now I guess, that kind of stuff. Art is a learned skill, you won't excel at it immediately, she's at her current skill level because she has, as stated in this video, been at it for over ten years. They don’t look as equally as good
@QuacklifeK3 жыл бұрын
@@mayonnaisedog7986 I think they do. The first is more dreary and murky, slightly more down/depressing and there’s more gravity to it. Slightly saddening, while there are a little more ragged and the lines are more sprawled on the page helping to convey those aspects. Although I say this strictly out of comparison. Where as her newer style is a bit more crisp, the art/features more plump and overall a bit more exuding of positive energy and slightly perky. Very fairy like. The initial art may not have been what she was striving for but it was still equally as entrancing/captivating just in different ways.
@carlsmith85933 жыл бұрын
To be honest, that's probably just the Dunning Kruger effect. The first book was not even close to professional quality. The second was clearly the work of an experienced artist. It was night and day.

@@carlsmith8593 that’s very true but I think I just like thinking of it that way. Especially since I know people have different art styles somewhat similar who are equally experienced but just draw very differently. While 90% of all the artists out there will always hate whatever they create, like art is about objectivity, while it isn’t, for me it’s either having fun or wanting to express ourselves or an idea of ours, but the important part is to have fun, or in general putting emotions in it

I started crying as soon as I saw the first sketch, because it looks just like my grandmother who passed in January. I immediately knew it was her grandma just from the sense of connection to the subject. It's like how when you see certain paintings you know without being told that the artist had a definite history with the subject; that can even come through in photography. Rambling yet still crying lol

Anyway, I’ve been in a sinkhole - struggling with accepting my diagnosis for depression in April and I was really consistent about my journaling and art prior to that - a little doodling and paintings here and there. But because of my struggle with mental illness, I shut down and completely avoided everything that had to do with art (aside from watching your videos) Since watching your videos, you’ve really inspired me to pick up my art supplies and start creating again. 🥺 I feel like it’s a good indicator that I’m slowly getting myself back and doing things I love again
