I've been searching UT and such for info just like this. One of the sleds on my list is one of these but with a turbo, or maybe a 9r from Polaris. Your video makes it seem like I should be looking at a X with Tmotion and flex edge track. But I'm afraid it will act similar to my 22 arctic cat m8000 154 with the mono rail. IMO the arctic cat is hard to ride, easy to get up on edge yes, but after that it's very unpredictable, don't seem to want to hold a sidehill and requires a lot of rider input, where as the Polaris and a couple newer Ski-Doos I ride seem to need a lot less rider movement. So to me it seems like the expert without flex edge and Tmotion would be easier to ride. But you say the X is easier to ride? Can you explain a bit more on that? I don't want to get another sled that handles like a monorail arctic cat. Thanks man!

I know what you mean! I’ve rode the mono rail a bit, and it is easy to initiate a sidehill, but the sled seems to dive onto one side or the other, particularly when you ride aggressively. The Summit X requires less input for sure, but it has a very neutral handling characteristic compared to an Alpha, the Expert requires more input and aggressive riding style, but you can be very precise when navigating high consequence technical terrain, due to the aggressive ski, spindle, rigid rear arm, full rod track and stiffer shock calibration. If I’m riding steep terrain and want to stay out of open water, I prefer the Expert, if I’m going on an adventure through the trees I prefer the Summit X. If I crank up the springs on the ski shocks of an X, I can confidently ride it aggressively though too. It comes with the 4.7 riser and an adjustable limiter for ‘24 so it’s a really good do it all sled

@SteveMartin12 I like to ride more open and a bit off trail stuff. But sometimes the guys I ride with get me off into trees and lots of sidehilling. In all the stuff I rode that season, the 2 Polaris's were the easiest to ride in all of it. What set up In ski-doo would be the easiest to ride, and require the least amount of rider effort? Thanks for your thoughts on this.

I put down on a Freeride Turbo R 146. NGL, I'm a little nervous about it on deep Valdez days 😬.

I was nervous as I was cutting apart that ‘21 Freeride to build a 146, I was surprised how well it went in the deep snow. You’ll love it

I couldn’t understand what you said. 50% increase in what on the Freeride?
@SteveMartin12
@SteveMartin12 11 ай бұрын
50% increase in shock compression valving, so 50% stiffer. Usually if you’re jumping and dropping cliffs, I would disassemble the shocks, add more shims to make them stiffer, and run stiffer springs, but it’s no longer required. When the shock adjusters are turned into the firm position, they are aggressive enough to soak up big landing

Hard to choose freeride turbo 146 or shredder turbo 146?
@SteveMartin12

That would be a tough choice; have you made up your mind?

@@SteveMartin12 no I have not. Maybe the most important thing is which one is more nimble to ride.

😂. Thanks man, it looks so good in person, if you get a chance to make it to one of the spring shows, do so. It looks great in the sun.

@@SteveMartin12 I will likely be placing my first snow check on the free ride today. might be more sled than i need. but I am looking forward to it.

4.7" riser is just a wee bit short for us 6’-2" riders. 5" would be perfect.

Ah yeah I bet. I actually use a 3” riser, I’m quite a bit shorter than you 😂

6’2” and I ride with a 4.7” on my 22 freeride. But I did do a post forward which brings the steering up like 1/2”. So you might have a point there… 🤔
