I've driven many VW products in recent years but decided to try a Skoda Kamiq after experiencing very poor after sales service with VW. What a huge mistake. Took delivery with 3 faults and it took about 3 months and 5 visits to resolve. The car is a 2023 model and I've already had another 2 faults needing attention. To say that Skoda's after sales service is shocking is an understatement. I now understand why Skoda's market share is so low. Purchase a Skoda at your own peril.

My good friend has had 33 break downs on her 2023 Kamiq. There have been numerous things but the major one is the start/stop feature. As soon as it activates the car is unable to be restarted. Basically leaves her a brick in the middle of the road and needs towing. After many reports and “fixes” Skoda Australia are still not budging for a consumer rights refund. She has now sought legal representation and suing Skoda for defective product and now legal fees. I highly advise to avoid this junk.

This shounds like a factory issue. Most people have very positive experience with recent Skoda cars.

Tell your good friend to replace the sender unit that send a signal regarding Voltage balancing.. It is located on the negative prong cable attached to the 12 Volt Battery. Then an official OBD has to be used to declare the battery as "new" to the ecu. There declare 5AH less for the new battery leaving a 5AH head space. Then it will work wonders. All European cars have this problem these days.

I bought 3 skodas, the last one had a car accident and got write off. I purchased prepaid service package on this car and still got 3 years remaining. Skoda refuse to do any sort of compensation. Since then I havent bought any skodas, I am driving a BYD now.

That is why I never buy prepaid servicing. I recently had 3 years of servicing included as part of negotiating a new car deal, so if the car gets written off it's not too much of problem. Caveat Emptor

Mmm, how is this an update when skoda got rid of the power tail gate, wireless phone charger, adaptive cruise control on the base model, which is all inclusive in my MY21 Kamiq 85tsi plus a panoramic sunroof.

This has the infamous DQ200 dry clutch DSG. I bet it blows up just outside of the warranty. If it dies earlier the warranty claim will likely be denied as the driver will be accused of crawling in traffic and therefore being responsible for stuffing up the clutches... this happened to a work colleague... not a good look.

Pretty sure the DQ200 'back in the day' was terrible, in fact my brother had one and it was replaced under warranty. These days I'd say it's probably quite a bit better based on the reviews by motoring journos, and will surely be more reliable than it was a decade ago.

@@rickb314 I also think the DQ200 has been sorted finally, however, with VAG you can never be 100% sure. That is why I purchased a T-Roc with the Aisin 8 speed torque converter auto.

@@fairgo4156 I hear you, we recently purchased a Karoq with the same transmission, as it will be wife's daily driver and is sure to be less of a hassle however personally I enjoy driving the DSG and would actually prefer one if I was in the market.

You mentioned during the foot to the floor starts that the dual clutch transmission was a little confused, and this feels like a warm hatch, why not test the manual transmission version, I bet that'll be the best version of the car. Or is that auto only?
