All the bikes are good but from personal experience Yamaha has had the best durability by far. I bought a 426 in 2002 and was hooked on 4 strokes ever since. We've had Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki 450s over the last 20 years. Nothing was sturdier than the Blu bikes!

​@CoreyBanks1 , Yamaha has had the best reliability out of the 4 strokes for 2 decades. We're not talking about the past 40-50 years. Hondas are good, but Yamaha has been better for a long time now. (I own a KTM right now.)

who do we believe?.. our KTM loving brothers at MXA put the new "boggy" YZF in fourth place, while Vital-mx and Swapmoto have it in first... does the new YZF really just have the others scared so they have to knock it back or what?!

they all have their biases , but i will say i rode the new 250 yam on a test day and it was really boggy , sticking with my 23 yzf 250 as a result

@@nope7171 so annoying about the bog. i'm wondering if the chassis is perfect or did they go too rigid on that. so common that an OEM wrecks one thing while they fix another. just ever making sure we never get the perfect model i guess. but if the YZF chassis is good, it will be easier to fix the bog than a chassis flop, like you see with Honda and KTM. fortunately the new flexi motor mount craze is helping the chassis problems on literally every other brand. maybe Yam needs them now too.

The chassis still felt good , the front end is a bit more lively than the 23 but after 2 laps I was used to it . I hope that you can map out the boggy bottom end with the power tuner app , unfortunately didn’t get a chance to try it.

literally every other shootout has the yamaha in first, they also say you just need to change the maps on your phone, swap moto said it had way more power than any other 250 and its not close KT-MXA also made a video fixing the bogging issue and they all loved it clearly the new yz250f is way better than any other brand atm

MXA shows clearly on their dyno charts that it is low. the question is did the other testers map it out or just ignore it.

@@jpesicka492 they blame the bigger air box which means lean, so a richer map should help. but why wouldn't the OEM already have done that. seems weird. more likely has to do with loss of velocity. just like putting a bigger carb on an old snowmobile will make it bog real bad and there is no way to jet out the problem. guys should try stuffing the backside of the air filter space and see if it does the same thing as a reed stuffer in the old days, just to identify the real cause. reed stuffers always increased torque and revealed a flaw in the OEM design.

i'm serious here, someone needs to try this on the new YZF250, even if just a temporary test like something duct taped in there for a few minutes. it's a proven issue on many older model bikes and snowmobiles that were evolving in design... they go bigger on the crank case volume or the air space behind the air filter and the air velocity slows down and it gets a low end bog. no possible combo of jetting change would help. many have tried. the only fix for it is when the OEM changes it in future models. but we used to get great results by filling in those voids with something solid. the machine would accelerate like crazy and the bog would be gone. think of it as putting a brick in a toilet tank to use less water... you just need anything solid and secure to take up space. the air mass volume cycled through by the piston has to be matched to the port volume that is getting to the cylinder, or the air slows down after it gets past the carb or throttle body. one good method was riveting hard plastic smooth shaped blocks into those places. it even works inside a crank case along the intake sides where the reeds transfer to the crank case (as long as the rivet holes were blind for no possible air leakage). does not take much to fill in space and increase the velocity, which then pulls fuel in faster. it's a lost art i suppose... but when i hear that an air box is larger and the motor bogs now, it's the first thing that comes to mind. there was a famous snowmobile that was vehemently hated for this problem... the 1996 Polaris Ultra 680. no amount of tuning - not adding triple pipes or changing carbs - nothing would make the bog go away. in 1999 Polaris increased the volume by 120cc to make it an 800 and the bogging problems were gone. this is because the "air pump" became larger and moved more air. the air mass in motion then matched the crankcase volume that was previously too large. that's when we understood why the 680 motor was hopeless to tune. so maybe putting a big bore kit on the new YZF will fix its bog eh?!

These bike shootouts mean nothing. Any of these bikes are great with suspension
