Very nice video. Great lineup this year. Nick Lowe was great. I wish he had a longer set. Seeing Miracle Legion was also a highlight.

Tolerating the crowd at these kinds of festivals is always the biggest challenge lol

I would like to see Wilco again; saw them back in the AM days and a couple times before and after YFH. Always very good but very different each time. My personal fav was the the Jay Bennett years. There was a ragged, fun rock n' roll vibe about the band. Not to downplay the machine they became with by the time A Ghost Is Born was happen - they became so adventurous you just stood there in awe. We even also saw a rare Golden Smog show; that was a real treat. They were so obviously drunk and having fun. Tweedy kept threatening to play Cat Scratch Fever for the Detroit crown. Lol. Great, fun video. Cool to hear about the full festival.

Nice a Golden Smog show is definitely rare! I was hoping to see ole Jim O'Rourke make an appearance but maybe next time. Play the Loose Fur records which I think they've actually done. These the Wilco albums are mostly good, and adventurous though they've settled into a sort of mid range rock mold. I enjoy them but I don't think they'll be able to match what they did in the early 00s. And that is ok. Appreciate them for who they are, not what they were or could be. It was a fun time though!

Will check out the Corsano and Aerial M records. Awesome festival. Dig the diversity of bands and art.

Corsano lp is a beast and one I think you'd totally dig

Dom, great review of a great festival, wish I was there. Amazing that you were able to capture the details of such a multi- headed beast, in just one video. I've never heard anything by Wilco, but I recently bought an Uncle Tupelo cd at a thrift store, for the sum of 200 pennies, I put it in my pile of unplayed cd's and will now listen to it.The concepts of buying tickets in advance of knowing the line-up, and making your album cover with stickers are two new ideas that I find interesting to ponder. The Horse Lords snippet was awesome, they sound like a combination of 1980's King Crimson ( due to the complex drumming ) and Megafaun ( due to the neo- Appalachian guitar sound). John Carter's album '' Castles Of Ghana'' was the only Gramavision album that I owned by him, it's a real good one , the band is a bunch of high level players who bring out the best in Carter's excellent compositions. Wilco probably hooked up with Laurie Anderson because they both record for Nonesuch. I wonder if the Nonesuch label helps fund the Wilco Festival, I think they have some cash to spare.

Hey Michael. This festival is definitely a huge effort and in no way a small scale project. So yeah I think Nonesuch is involved. But it's all Wilco. Amazing what they've been able to achieve after all these years, and yeah coming from the punk roots days of Uncle Tupelo. Horse Lords is officially a favorite modern band for me and will be trying to get them to come to upstate NY! Good crimson reference there!

Loved hearing about the Fest and all the clips. Having a museum gallery along side is ideal. I love that combination. Great overview.

It's an ideal festival for my age. You'd probably love it as well. 2026!

I had many great times at Solid Sound over the years. Mass Moca is a great spot.

Pretty luke warm on Wilco myself, but looks like you had a great time. Love watching the footage. Props to you for going to a festival, I've officially reached the point that more often than not I'm hoping there's seats at a concert lol. Really like Steven R Smith and his Ulaan output, Spring is probably the last one of his I've checked out though. Corsona and White are definitely top tier modern(ish) drummers, love the Young Cricketer by Corsano, need to get his new one.

The Corsano lp is fantastic, the more I listen. He's a hero and always doing something cool. Don't know the Ulasn project. Will be looking that one up! Cheers Thijs!

Sounds like a cool festival, I like the mix of concerts and art exhibitions, fun for the whole family :) And great to see more Aerial M/Papa M stuff. I have to check that album out. As you know, I'm a big Pajo fan. Take care!
@seekingathreadАй бұрын
Hey Jonas. To me the Aerial M is a must from the conceptual cover art and Pajo discography alone. The recordings are superb and worth the price to me. Pajo deserves a deep dive. I just pulled out all these one off CDs I have of him. Will have to show em soon

The winning album cover design by a 3 year-old. A very Dad Rock thing to do. Seems like a great lineup to me. If I'm going somewhere with a bunch of bands I'm unfamiliar with, I want variety. They provide that. It helps remind us sometimes that live music can just be experienced. Some good suggestions here to check out. Horse Lords in particular. As the kids get older, I hope we can do things like this as a family. For now... I'm just taking them to Weezer and Stevie Wonder. Lol So, Beings was really exciting upon first listen. I will admit, as time passes, it loses some of its luster. I think that's just the more improvisational aspect of it. I think they would make for a fantastic quartet if the compositions became more directly composed. Something more focused as a true band. I think Gunn's strengths aren't really highlighted. That would be my biggest issue with it. I still am glad to have it in my collection, and see it as something that I could pull out years from now and maybe "rediscover." Seen a lot of people share the Aerial M record on Instagram. haven't been watching as many videos as of late. Wilco will love you baby ✌
@seekingathreadАй бұрын
I agree the Beings is a good one to have. It's an interstate effort bringing all those minds together from somewhat different worlds. If they did a 2nd, I could see it being significantly better. Or at least coalescing in the right way. Haha yes saw the winning cover post recording this during editing. Good choice. The child's mind perfect for this silly but pretty good ep. Good point about variety in festivals. They definitely bring that. CHEERS!

Loved the Horse Lord clips, interesting Corsano backround story, do you have a lot recs with him on drums? I seem to have one, lol, on record that is on Finnish label.

I have a bunch of Corsano related records but nothing too on the fringe. I have to check. He releases like 7-10 related records a year!
