After seeing their design choices for 2025, I found one of the last available 2024 Foresters. I'm glad I did. I traded in a 2021 Forester, which wasn't too shabby either. They made incremental improvements to everything, most notably the EyeSight system. The car is nearly perfect. The best part, I'm not stuck with the 11 inch screen or a body that looks like a Subaru Ford Explorester.

The Canadian Limited comes with pretty much the same features of this US model but we also get Rear Heated Seats (2 settings), power passenger seat plus facial recognition for seat and driver attention. It is one down from our Premier (US=Touring). I have one and I thought Subaru couldn't do any better then my 2011 Forester, I was wrong this generation of Forester and the Limited in particular is outstanding.

I have a 2023 Forester Limited and love it so far. Not as many options as the one you’re reviewing (no heated steering wheel, no navigation system, just to name a couple, but not deal breakers for me). Don’t really need the heated steering wheel and for navigation I just use google maps and connect to Apple CarPlay. I mentioned this in your 2023 Forester Limited review but I was in an accident about 5 months ago. I was driving a 2016 Subaru Impreza at the time and walked away without major injuries, but the car was totaled. I test drove the Crosstrek and the Forester and felt the outward visibility was better in the Forester. I would have preferred the Premium trim but they didn’t have any on the lot with options I wanted, so went with the Limited that they had on the lot.

@ctclardy8 ай бұрын
You are correct, the most negative feature about the Forester is its one-engine offering... the standard engine is far too anemic for my tastes... other than that the car would be perfect for me in every way... I understand they will offer a hybrid in the 2025 model... hopefully, it will have more hp and torque... Subaru also needs to reintroduce the turbo as an option, as they previously did, and then discontinued it... excellent review.

If you have Turbo, the car will spend more gasoline which is not good
@ctclardy6 ай бұрын
@@vinhdao7582 Then if having a turbo is bad because it uses more gas then Subaru should stop making them completely but, they still make them for their Outback plus, they make a naturally aspirated Boxer engine that puts out 228 hp in the BRZ that could be put into the Forester. People who have turbocharged engines are not revving their engines all the time. They mostly use the turbos when it is necessary and prudent for the moment. Mazda offers turbos on almost every model. Subaru used to offer turbos on the Forester and for some unknown reason stopped offering them. Moreover, why haven't they offered a hybrid if they are so concerned about you saving gas? They could get more hp and torque with the hybrid and not lose fuel economy. In fact, they could gain fuel economy while also gaining hp and torque.

Thank you for your review. I need towing capacity for jet ski’s, a smaller pontoon boat and a 6x10 landscape trailer so 1500# will not do it. Maybe the wilderness forester or an outback onyx? Little scared with the leather, lots of people complain of tears, cracks.
@AutomotiveAnonymous2089 ай бұрын
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching. I’ve personally not heard any issues with the leather. I would think the bigger concern is if the Subaru CVT would enjoy frequent towing. The Wilderness models at least come with tranny coolers. Best of luck in whatever you decide!

I’m seem to debating about Mazda or Subaru. I guess about CVT as you mentioned and also long-term if I decide to keep it I’m just a little confused right now which to get I was looking into the Mazda, CX 50 or CX 70 and on Subaru The outback wilderness What is your opinion about these two vehicles? Thanks also great video.
@AutomotiveAnonymous2089 ай бұрын
If you’re planning to keep it beyond the powertrain warranty and not getting an extension I would definitely test drive and consider the Mazdas. I haven’t researched the brand new 70 yet because I don’t have one to video, but hopefully in a few weeks. The CX-50 is cool and looks good, but I honestly like the CX-5 more. And Mazdas AWD seems close to as good as Subarus in mild snow as I found out in my winter testing videos. Tires also matter a lot and I still have like 5 of those winter driving videos to share. But I’m impressed with both. Mazda definitely has a solid powertrain though!

What is your thought about the comfort of the seats on the forester limited? We found that the cloth seats were a lot more comfortable. We also drove the Outback and their seats seemed more comfortable, with cloth beating leather, but both beating the leather seats of the Forester. Thoughts? We drive several hours on various trips so comfort on long rides is important.
@AutomotiveAnonymous2089 ай бұрын
I’ve only owned cloth and startex seats in my own Subarus, which is do think are very comfortable for my build. But when I’ve driven many models with leather seats for shorter durations I’ve never felt they were any less comfortable. Seat comfort is kind of subjective, best of luck in whatever you decide! 🙂

Subaru CHOOSES to not offer a decent transmission/transaxle in a platform that begs for it. Because of this bias against such a reasonable and understandable need on such a good offroad platform, there is no chance I would even consider buying one.

Is it OK to do oil changes and tire rotation every 5,000 miles instead of every 6 months? I drive 3-5k per year only.
@AutomotiveAnonymous2089 ай бұрын
I of course have to recommend whatever the vehicles instruction manual says, which I would assume 6k or 6 months, but changing it more frequently is never a bad thing. The oil breaks down through use but also age so I wouldn’t often push past the recommended intervals, especially while it’s under warranty incase you ever need to prove it’s been Mai trained for a warranty claim. 🙂
