Couple questions. I heard that premium fuel isn't required on the 2024 like it was previously. What kind of effect did that have on the engine? With the eyesight system, how does it account for it being a manual? If the system decides it needs to slam on the brakes for you, does it automatically push the clutch in? How about when adaptive cruise control slows you down below what is appropriate for the gear you're in?

I really like the TR upgrades, but for me the sweet spot is the Premium trim, which can be had for below MSRP, no easy feat in today's utterly insane new car market.

You joke, but the new Boxer engines don't typically have near as many head gasket issues that the old ones were notorious for.
@nateallen27146 ай бұрын
@@Link_1129 didn’t they have a quality control issue with RTV getting sucked into the oil pick up?
@matthewwain99586 ай бұрын
@@nateallen2714 Yes. It's probably still there, but the debris grill is very wide, so it's highly unlikely that any flow is impeded. And if it was, Subaru would warrant it.
@matthewwain99586 ай бұрын
@@Link_1129 Indeed. The head gasket issues were on things like the outbacks... these issues haven't been seen for many many years. The ringland failure in the STI EJ was the biggest issue, so jokes about head gasket's really show how little people know tbh. I assume you know, so just putting it out for others, that the FA24 is a heavily beefed up FA20, with almost none of the shortcomings. Without any engine work, it can take about 450whp until it starts lifting the head (so need stronger studs), and by that point you would have already ruined the trans anyway lol. Crazy how low tuned these are from factory, so much potential for cheap to get 'medium' levels of sports car perf.

@@nateallen2714 RTV is mainly an issue on the naturally aspirated version of the FA24D used in the BRZ and Toyota GR86, not so much the FA24F

Oh but you will when things start to break. Oh and there are other things involved in peoples decisions too. Like insurance. Where I live going from one of these to even just a Golf R; i'm looking at 800 a year more. Not for me buddy. But enjoy your new ride!
@fadmap96766 ай бұрын
@Vecc-tq3fb Agreed. However, when i did the trade-in, i didn't want to be spending more than what i was with my STI. Overall, the cost of ownership, insurance, etc, so far wasn't that much of a difference. Yes, $800/year is a bit much, 66/month. My insurance only went up $15/month with the RS3. I got it CPO from Audi with a 4-year extended full coverage warranty. Only had 8k miles on it when I got it. That was one of my top priorities when trading in my STI. CPO, 1 owner, extended warranty, etc. But again, I'm roughly paying about the same I was with the STI.

I miss my 2016 WRX in more ways than I can name. The TR model is the one I am focused on as it is way more attractive in features than the next one up. To each their own and I prefer the manual. No spare tire is a problem as I see it. Not a good idea. This can be fixed.
