Basic go anywhere type of vehicle. I wouldn't mind one. Speed in Australia is irrelevant anyway. Bad roads. Ridiculously slow speed limits. And getting even slower. A police force that ignores crime to concentrate on easy motoring profit. Ever increasing fines. Cameras everywhere to make the most of the fines. Anything faster than a push bike is overkill. These are good little offroaders. Again where speed often isn't much good. The price is a bit steep. And I wouldn't buy one if they left those road tyres on. 5 A/T swap, or walk. It would be even nicer with a bit more low down grunt. But I bet it would still leave a lot of heavy overpowered 4x4 for dead on most beaches. Weight is not your friend.

Marvelous, its a manual.

@peterb666 20 күн бұрын
Performance wise, this is a throw back to circa 1970. Needs a bigger engine and the auto needs more gears - and so does the manual to get that highway speed rpm down to something reasonable. Again - so 1970s small car.

Yes, that’s the one. I stand corrected. Thank you.

Great video! Speed is pretty similar to a Suzuki SX4 1.6 I had. Btw, the car is not underpowered. It has a decent and normal power to weight ratio as many small displacement city cars, like 90's honda Civics. But people need to understand that gearing has a lot in play here. It's a car meant to be good at fuel consumption, simple for maintenance, and at the same time being able to go off roading (I've seen it going over really bad roads and mud, with the correct tires of course) by just throwing the 4H or 4L and release a bunch of torque. It's never been meant for going fast, none of previous Jimnys either. If course it's not a car for everyone. Many people would prefer a V8 and a bigger car. In my case after some very complex and expensive experiences with previous cars, I rather drive a daily car that is fuel friendly, able to go pretty much anywhere and have some fun, easy to maintain and fix (that's why I got one, in red as well haha)
@LGMCR
@LGMCR 12 күн бұрын
I'm thinking of buying the red variant too...but I'm not sure if paint maintenance is a chore or keeping it clean would be difficult on a regular basis. Could you tell me your experience with that matter? Thanks a lot
@dasoroCR
@dasoroCR 12 күн бұрын
@@LGMCR these are really maintenance friendly. Most of the paint options are not mica or metallic (the blue one is the only pearl color for 5 door if I'm not mistaken), the rest are just plain color with no pearl, so normal wash and wax would do the job, and maybe paint decontamination once a year. Darker colors could be harder to keep shiny and scratch free though, no matter if its pearl or not. IMO the red one is the prettiest Jimny, the two tone plus black plastic trims make a really nice contrast, and it's not hard to keep clean. The easiest would be silver, but it's a very generic car color for me.

My motorbike makes twice the power and about the same amount of torque. This reminds me of the first 1,500 cc - 1,600 cc’s when they first converted to fuel injection and unleaded fuel in the mid 80’s.

Would've been awesome and more worth the price if it had a bigger engine, or same engine with turbo for something like 150hp and 220nm.

lol needs what 3,200rpm to maintain 110km/h? in 5th? I used to own a 2008 Ford Focus with 2L NA i4 petrol and 4-speed torque converter, 4th was over-drive but the final drive was 4.25.1, so at 110km/h the engine was revving at 2,900rpm but peak torque (a measly 185Nm) was still around 1,600rpm away at 4,500rpm, that said fuel economy was very decent with an average around 8L per 100km.
