I was going to get a Maverick, but bought a Tacoma SR double cab. I think it is awesome and feels state of the art. I still own a 2012 Tundra for heavier towing. However, I can't quite figure out why it only has 3500 towing when it has the same engine, albeit detune by only 50HP and leaf springs which should be more sturdy. What happens if it is "tuned up". Is the towing rating more of a way to encourage up selling?

I got a gray SR ordered for 37k; bit expensive but it’s for family. I prefer personally the frontier for simplicity purposes. The Tacoma SR is similar to Nissan Sv and the Nissan SV is basically MSRP at 35k which is the reason I went with Tacoma.

Are you talking about MSRP or OTD? MSRP is 40K is change, a little more but not massively. You also get a lot more for your money with the 4th gen. There is a 5K convivence / cold weather package but even that doesn't add up to 47K.
@stuckincommiefornia6 ай бұрын
Also a 24 off road with premium package is only 53 - 54 K, a bit more but I don't know if many are paying under MSRP right now. You did get a great deal paying 48K.
@Doc18556 ай бұрын
@@stuckincommiefornia Toyota now has Mexico assemble the Tacoma. Toyota said that it was to reduce production costs, yet Toyota bends their “Valued Customers” over by charging More for their Tacoma’s. So Toyota is making money hand over fist while screwing their customers. Furthermore because Communist Biden opened up our borders Forcing American SLAVES (taxpayers) to support Everyone of the 10 Million Illegal Invaders, so since we’re supporting 10 Million of them here, then why would Anyone want to support them in their own country? I purposefully bought my 23 Tacoma because it was the last year of the proven, durable and reliable 3.5L Naturally Aspirated (NA) V6. Historically a NA engine will simply last longer than any Turbo engine. My truck was a leftover 23. I bought it on 2/29/24. No one wanted a 6’ bed, but that was one option that I needed and wanted. The dealership was so eager to sell me my Tacoma that they added a Trifold tonneau cover, running boards, free oil and filter changes for as long as I own my truck, an 8 year bumper to bumper extended warranty and free tire rotation. Apparently they had owned my pickup for 8 months but everyone wanted the 5’ bed. Toyota says to change the oil every 10K miles, but I’m old school and I’ve always changed my oil every 5K miles, so I’ll have to pay for an oil change every other time. They’ll be sorry that they gave me free oil changes as we tend to keep our vehicles for 15-20 years or 250K - 300K miles. At my age and that I only drive 6-8K miles per year, I plan on driving my 23 TRD until I die. I’m quite sure that after my death, my wife will keep using my Tacoma to plow the 5-7 feet of snow off our private road and driveway until her death.

I have a 2014 Tacoma Access cab. I personally would not think of getting the 2024 Extra cab that has no doors to access the storage area behind the front seats. My 2024 Access cabs has doors that make it very easy to load/unload any heavy or bulky items. For me the 2024 Extra cab would not work at all. My feeling is that Toyota is not going to do well selling the new extra Cab model which is basically an Access Cab minus seats and doors and no ability to carry more than 2 persons. I have rarely had a passenger in the back seats of my Access Cab but at least I had the option of doing so when needed the few times.
