This looks like a nice first version. I like toggle switches but for temperature I prefer a knob. It’s easier to grab and adjust quickly. For that reason I’d probably go for the Control Bar. This could use to match the Tesla screen better in size and color. Maybe space out those switches.

Some may like this … Enhance Knob does so much more and in easy reach. It keeps a minimalist look with maximum flexibility and utility. It does allow for muscle memory helping your eyes to stay on the road.

Great review as always!. For next iteration I'd suggest moving wiper control closer to the steering wheel and adding fog light control. Tesla's voice control doesn't work with fog lights and using the touchscreen with low visibility to turn them on is not very safe!

I wish the passenger door button was much farther to the right. I doesn't really make sense that it is to the further left. I would definitely reorder these buttons (left to right) to be more practical 1. AC Blowing mode control 2. AC manual intensity control 3. Wiper control 4. Front defog control 5. Trunk/Frunk control 6. Glove box/Mirror control 7. Charging port/unlock doors control 8. Rear Air conditioning control 9. Passenger Door control 10. Audio track control (closer for passenger) 11. Passenger Seat forward/backward adjustment 12. Passenger Seat Up/down adjustment

Quite good. Great that it's illuminated. If only it had temperature control and some customisable switches. Frunk, trunk and volume control are wasted switches for me. Not as nice looking as the Norwegian Ctl-Bar but more functions via OBD interface rather than just app interface functions.

I wish there was a button for the mirror tilt function. This would prevent people from scraping the rims. In my BMW and Lexus there is a button on the door for the mirror tilt.

*RHD Hack* - It is my understanding that the unit can be changed to Right Hand Drive (and presumable to Left Hand Drive for RHD versions) by pushing up the third and fourth buttons from the left for 3 seconds until the icons display flashes. Am I correct? *UPDATE 1-* The seller told me yes, so fingers crossed as the saving is $A140. *UPDATE 2 -* Although the action described above does indeed make the unit open the left hand doors, this action will not be reflected in the unit's display. Most likely it would be if you purchase the official RHD version. The left doors opening is however reflected correctly on the Tesla screen.

​ @dadstoyscars Do you still have this button bar installed in either your Model Y or Model 3? I was just bought this button bar and was doing some partial installation to test the button bar before doing the full installation and I noticed with the latest software update 2024.14.6. Issues found in SW version 2024.14.6 1. For the frunk/trunk button, only the trunk feature (push down) works. The frunk feature (push up) doesn't work. I noticed it worked in the video for opening the frunk but for me it doesn't work at all. I even tried it with 2 separate button bar units as a test and both units perform the same way with no frunk functionality. 2. For the rear air con control button, I noticed when I press it, it doesn't follow the Tesla screen for On/Off. In order for me to be able to control the rear air con, I have to press the Rear air con Fan button on the screen set to On (blue) and leave it set to on, but then use the button bar to push down to turn On/off the Rear air con function. Its a workaround that works but unfortunately doesn't follow the Tesla screen for On/Off status. 3. For the wiper button, like in #2 when I try the manual wiper function it doesn't work if your wipers are set to "Off". However in order for me to able to utilize the manual wiper function, I have to set my Tesla wiper mode to "Auto" on the screen and then press down on the Wiper button to swap through wiper speeds 1-4. Like #2 it is a workaround to get the intended function of the button. I was just curious if you were able to observe #1, #2 and #3 with the latest software issues. Also are the 2 USB-C ports in the back used for any firmware updates or are they intended to be USB-C charge ports?

You just know it's a bad design by Tesla when you need 3rd party hardware to get even basic functionality to be user-friendly and intuitive.... Not EVERYTHING should be handled through a screen.

Sorry, it's a good idea for people who need buttons, but when they all look and feel the same and are arranged in a looooooong uniform row, the peole still need to look at the buttons before they find the right one that they want to press, just like on the screen. There is no difference in fact. Maybe arrange them in a pattern, in functional groups. Make them different for different topics. One shape for the wipers, one shape for the sound, one shape for the climate control. And when there are many for one function group, use different shapes in there or arrange them in a logical pattern.
