Other changes are the side radiator door is now bolted on instead of hinged, they also changed the LED curb light by the service door and the 2nd window from the back is longer than the rest.
@Bomo73 ай бұрын
That window is always like that, it’s the 141YS body model, it’s an extra foot added to the bus to help with an optional 90 passenger capacity

Also I think our district’s oldest bus is bus 7 that I think is a 2009 hdx. Also our district sold buses that were 2014 Thomas hdx (bus 1) 2012 Thomas hdx (bus 2)

Ccs always specd their buses well. Minus ac. Was told when I was there we’d never see ac in them. That’s awesome that was finally over ruled. My first one was 677. Bluebird with a cat. With the oldest I drove was 622. I got 737 almost new, 769 brand new and 784 brand new before I left. I think they were just getting 800 in when I left.

The Blue Birds were the best buses we ever had. I wish we kept them around longer. I was told that the A/C decision was from the superintendent himself. It was a very welcomed option by the drivers and students.

I prefer Cummins B6.7, it has better the fuel economy & its performances is good when maintained properly.
@Bomo73 ай бұрын
The B6.7 in our buses gets 2mpg less than the L9… it has to work harder and doesn’t last as long either

Question: What does the “HDX” stand for?
@DJBiv7889 ай бұрын
HD = Heavy Duty. They started using the X in the redesign of the same model bus in 2004.

Project681 did ya get a chance to drive or ride the Thomas Hdx bus?
@leewashington52088 ай бұрын
OK, I know school buses use to be restricted to only 40ft long( I know they could be longer now). Where I'm from the Saf liner MVPs and the HDs, they had 13 roll seats. But, in a neighboring larger city MVPs and HDs had 14 roll seats. After looking at many videos of Saf T liners(REs) the standard is 14 rolls. So, is the 13(roll buses) shorter than 40 feet?

Question about Cabell's numbering system... Sooner or later bus 999 will arrive. Will the district continue into the 1000s? Start over with bus #1 or something different?
@Project68110 ай бұрын
That's the question we all have. I guess we will find out in 25 years or so, unless they decide to change it up again.
@thekarlkeeper87279 ай бұрын
If you guys order, say 10 buses a year, bus 999 will probably be a 2036 or 2037.

We bought both this year. No idea where the C2s are at yet. Supposed to get two special needs and maybe two full sized Gen Ed buses.

They actually did make some 2024 REs, but only for customers who had them ordered and not delivered yet. They barely sold any of them though, less than 20% of what Thomas and Bluebird sell their transits
