2024 Topps Chrome Update pre release was held today, and It sold out in a matter of minutes. This set features a strong checklist, rookie mlb patch autos, and even on card autos of select top rookies. Credit to you all for digging into this and interrogating new releases with both a critical eye and without a penchant for doom and gloom. I tried to get one Hobby Box, was checking out, when it went to a black screen, and came back and said it was out of stock. At 12:02. Managed to get 2 Update Hobbys yesterday, and wish I had gone for a Jumbo, but thought I would be getting at least one Hobby Chrome Update today. Oh well.

I also think they used to call the 1/1 from logofractors Rose and not superfractor. I remember bc I pulled the freddie freeman 1/1 from 2023 logofractor

1. There were regular superfractor autos in last two years of logofractor too. It was odd and somewhat disappointing. 2. Chrome Update has SEVEN SP or SSP Insert chases, including Home Field Advantage in chrome. I was able to snag the pre-order hobby, which was fortunate with how quickly they sold out

yall know i went all in with pete, i couldn't imagine trying to do that in 2024. if i include every topps and bowman set i have for just for his rookie year its just under 1000 cards. and I'm still missing a bunch of the super low numbered stuff. the era of the super collector might not be dead but i sure feel sorry for the poor sap trying to build out every set

Topps is full it. Last year I pulled the Brandon Pfaadt MLB Debut card. I then tried to redeem the card online and Topps website would not accept the code. I then emailed Topps and they instructed me to fill out the card and mail it in to them. After a few weeks later I receive a package from Topps thinking my problem has been resolved and I received my MLB Debut card but boy was I wrong! Topps sent me and I kid you not Two packs ( 21 Topps chrome and 22 Bowman Platinum) Yelich relic card (not numbered) Cal Mitchell Finest RC auto and a Carlos Perez Finest RC auto (both not numbered) with a Topps card saying that my redemption was expired and these are replacements.

Definitely looks like one of the more enjoyable sets to open. But I’d rather just buy a nice rare high graded card. But def one of the better releases it seems in awhile. I live in Tokyo and only open the Topps Japan release. Those are the craziest most loaded boxes ever. Highly recommend them if you guys haven’t tried. They release on topps Japan site on Dec and ship to USA.

chris here - I've never opened any Topps Japan cards. Maybe i should give it a shot! Id rather just find a nice Skenes Gold Refractor than rip some boxes.

They condense series 1, series 2 and update into one. Golds are outta 25 and they have Sakura parallels that go for big money. The autos are only star players and star rookies and u get 1 per the $125 dollar box. I think they make them so crazy to get people in Japan more into cards. Every box I open I get about a 300% return. Which is really unheard of these days

To me it's going to depend on if Skenes has on card autos or not. If he has them then it will be an awesome chase with not great odds, but possible to pull and chase. The debut patches are just too hard to pull, and the set doesn't really have much else to look forward too as like you guys said, a lot of the guys had chrome base cards already. I'd be better off waiting if there's no legitimate chase

Chris here - Skenes rookie autos MUST BE on card. They just have to be. Miller and Eury Perez had on card rookie autos in last year's chrome update, while the repeated rookies were all stickers. Having said all of this, if Topps just put sticker autos on all the rookies, I wouldn't be shocked, just disappointed. At least we know MLB debut patch autos will be on card.

Is Skenes enough to elevate this? Skenes AND Debut patch autos?? You're rihgt though. The sticker autos tend to wreck chrome update for me. But I will be looking for a nice skenes card.
