THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR!! I was told you cannot remove the seats without causing complete failure of the air bag system!!
@Solo-Road3 ай бұрын
I disconnected my car battery to remove the front passenger seat from my 2007 Toyota Runner to avoid any airbag issues. I know, different model different year. However I think it would work on the newer Toyotas also. It's worth looking in to.
@terridibella51002 ай бұрын
There is a guy with a channel here who designed and makes a plug for the disconnected air bag. This allows the system to operate without a problem. . His channel/name is Brad Ling I think.

i am kicking myself for not getting a van last year when I bought a new vehicle. dont get me wrong, i like my suv, however I knew i wanted to car camp. my current no-build setup in my 2024 Kia Telluride is ok, but i wish I would have bought an AWD van. oh well. next is getting an older toyota sienna and making that my main camper (with semi-permanent build. your videos are super inspiring. thanks!

Sorry if I missed this in the video, but how did you remove the middle seats without the sensors giving constant errors in the dash for a disconnected airbag?
@DavidHuffTexas9 ай бұрын
He mentioned a "dongle" you can get to plug into the airbag sensor cable that makes the system think there's an airbag there. There's a KZbinr named Brad Ling that has videos explaining them & last time I checked he sold them, too...

Nice van and nice works done to it. If the flip counter has some support when it flipped out, that will be extra nice.

My guess is that the flip work top will rip out the hinges with the modest forces of preparing food on it ... needs a stay.

Since that van has a 1500W power inverter, that would make it the Woodland edition not the XLE, right?
@geedoubleu6416 ай бұрын
Why add a battery station when there's a factory inverter? This hybrid already has a huge lithium battery and when left in READY MODE the gas engine will start as needed to recharge it.

@Horizoncamperbuilds In case of what? I've camped in my Prius for over a year using only a 1000 watt inverter connected to the car's 12 volt battery. This van has a FACTORY 1500 watt inverter running off of the traction battery! The extra battery pack isn't needed at all.

Nice build, especially for what she had asked for. Just a heads up - The load rating on the roof is surprisingly low, from what I recall. I have a 2022 AWD Sienna and I think the load rating is something like 170 pounds. I was going to use the roof to stand on occasionally, but I haven't been up there after seeing how low the rating was. A roof top tent would probably be a bad idea if you are over 170 lbs.
@Horizoncamperbuilds2 ай бұрын
Good tip!
@871lennon2 ай бұрын
That load rating is for dynamic use( when you’re driving ). It is much higher ( around 825 lbs) for static use. Yes, the roof top tent’s weight has to be less than the dynamic rating but you shouldn’t have any problem climbing into it when vehicle is not moving provided the combined weight is not higher than the static rating. Some manufacturers like inspired overland make light weight roof top tents which weight around 80 lbs.
@WJMPhotography2 ай бұрын
@@871lennon Thank you so much for the info. It will be interesting to see how people do with a rooftop tent up there, I had no idea there is a difference between dynamic use and static use. :)

I'm guessing it's the sunroof she wanted. IDK about you, but a sunroof or moonroof makes all the difference in claustrophobic feeling when car camping. Plus they're useful for venting heat and circulation subtly. I've been told that the XLE is the lowest cost model that comes with a market sunroof, and that adding aftermarket sunroofs are hard to get insurance coverage on because they are notoriously unreliable. Not that I know much about the Sienna, I've just been looking and considering what to buy for months, and am renting one now to try it out in a basic sense, mainly test the AC at night in Texas heat. It is EXTREMELY frustrating that Toyota doesn't take orders anymore, the dealers get what they get, and you are simply on a list to be called when they get something close to what you want. Unfortunately that means you pay for a bunch of features, bells and whistles that you DON't want or need in order to get one thing that you DO.

That little battery pack will absolutely not run that refrigerator for 24 hours, Maybe 2-3 hours…..
@changliu73466 ай бұрын
dude,what are you doing with your fridge? Those single zone 20l fridge consumes about 40-50w when the compressor is running, and it does not run for the whole time. So actually that power bank will absolutely run that fridge for 24h, unless you just set the temperature to 4f and just keep the lid open.
@sardoc683 ай бұрын
Running continuously consuming 30 watts per hour you would drain a 300 wh battery in 10 hours. Unless its very hot, it would not run continuously.
