A long running staple is the Toyota Tacoma, now looking to defend its title as a best seller with an all-new generation. We witnessed the 2024 Tacoma’s big reveal in Hawaii earlier this year, and now we’re back from Southern California with some First Drive impressions. #Toyota #Tacoma #ToyotaTacoma

If the rumored Toyota Stout actually materializes in N. America (at the 'rumored' price point), Toyota will have genuine trouble producing enough of them quickly enough. Given the profits Toyota is pulling the last 3-5 years and their dealer's asking prices (ie: 'market adjustments)....I don't expect an American version of the Stout to actually happen. As proposed, it's too sensible.

Right, I just got my wife a 23 Limited nightshade. I am lucky as the franchise I own has access to Toyota employee pricing. I got it for for $39,500 (sticker was $47,500). Its not a bad truck (our 1st Taco). But all and all my 21 Ranger, in my opinion, is a better truck. More room, more power, WAY better at towing out 22ft camper, and for me is much more comfortable. But she is more comfortable in the Taco as you sit more on the floor vs a captain's chair style of seating. So she loves it and that makes me happy. But I am glad we got a 23 though.

@@rustbeltrobclassic2512 that is simply not true. A full size work truck is a very similar price, a well equipped full size truck is 45-55k just like these are. Why? I can see it in a car used for track days, but in a truck? It has ZERO advantage over an auto in anything that a truck does (towing, plowing, off-roading, driving normally). I can drive manual just fine but these days there are no need as autos always out perform them in every way.

@@nhbountyhunter if you do 4x4 stuff, its better to do a manual than a automatic f you have a manual, you can downshift instantly to get more power, where as auto, you have to press down much harder on gas pedal to get up to speed and that is not even a guarantee that it will automatically downshift manual has less moving parts and you can easily fix a manual, where a automatic, you need to bring down the entire transmission to work on it...

@@streamingvideo6654 yeah and unfortunately the durability and reliability seem to take a hit when they go to smaller higher strung engines. I’m REALLY hoping Toyota has all the bugs worked out of this and that it’s at least a 200k mile engine (before needing major repairs) I have nothing against turbos, hell I love turbo engines. Especially diesels (Psst, Toyota if you are listening I’d absolutely LOVE to see you send the Hilux’s turbo diesel here please and thank you lol) But just like in the 80s most turbo gas engines just don’t seem to be as bulletproof as a bigger N/A engine. Not really as big of an issue for passenger cars, but these are trucks, and I don’t know a single Taco owner that wants to give up their V6. Hell most I know either wish they had the 4.0 back over the 3.5 or are still hanging onto the 4.0. Nothing against the 3.5 but the 4.0 was a tank of an engine. One of my buddies has if I recall correctly nearly 400k miles, actually may be over 400k now as he’s been away drilling for a few months since I’ve seen him last lol I’ve not personally seen a 3.5 get there yet, but I have seen a few 200k-300k miles on them and they seem to be holding up pretty well too. These are your customer base Toyota, if this turbo 4 doesn’t cut it you very well may lose your customers to other trucks that do still offer a N/A V6. Fingers crossed this is a good turbo 4. Still want that turbo diesel from the Hilux though lol

After 28 yrs of driving it, I had thoughts of buying another Tacoma, but now it won't be some 2.4l turbo blah blah blah for how many arms and legs worth of money🤨. Where is the V6? Maybe I'm old or out of touch, but I want a large displacement motor without a Prius electric setup. Putting a turbo on a small engine that's fine in a Corolla or GT86, but this is not in a Tacoma. That's so rocks won't chip paint as easy and its just on the lower part of the body. At least that's the way it is on my Tacoma.

If you plan to tow with a 2.4 turbo gas engine, good luck to your mpg and long term engine, the v6 lasted so long b/c it was never stress, Let’s see after 50,000 miles how these turbo 4 bangers last with 0w-20 oil, or the turbo is dead at 111,00 miles ? , but I’d buy one :) as a Costco HD weekend trip to the woods car

Too many exterior lines. Too many bumps. Too many logos. I hope my 2nd Gen lasts another 18 years because this thing is ugly as a foot. Automotive design is cyclical, and hopefully it will tone down someday.

I just need a simple, affordable, and decently reliable truck. This is too big, too ugly, and much too expensive. Imagine how much cheaper this truck would be if they didn't hire so many designers. Thing looks like origami, not a truck.

Still less horsepower and torque than the GMC Canyon AT4X. Sure Toyota is reliable while both Toyota and GMC are both Turbocharged 4 cylinder, I can’t wait to see the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD PRO vs 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X. Canyon AT4X has 310 horsepower and 410 foot pounds of torque. This would be good if they go head to head.

Same here. A 2008 base 2 seat cab, 4wd, 2.7 5 speed, i bought in 2015 for $12995, 72k miles. Now, 208k, clutch replaced at 180k (original), and but for replacement or wear and tears, still runs like new, looks great,an excellent daily driver. No $50k required....

This new Tacoma's interior and exterior design looks great. Sadly, the lack of a 6 cyl option followed with a ridiculously high msrp adds up to paying more for less. Looks like a Frontier is in my future.
