Agree, Hayden, BUT…the hard part is when you NEED a truck, don’t like the new prices, so you look used and 5-12 year old truck prices are so inflated, that buying new is actually a better financial option. It’s insanity. I need a truck for my business, and all the tech isn’t important to me. At all. But I need certain things, such as at least a 6 foot bed, a payload of at least 1,700 minimum, etc. I’m faced with a limited number of trucks after that. And I’m sure I’m not alone. So I’ll shell it out. It’ll be a tax write off, but still, I have to have the $$ to buy it before it’s written off.

I love the Tundra. During my negotiation with the Toyota dealer I said I was willing to go to another brand because of incentives and ability to place an order. Competition will cause the change in pricing behavior an nothing else.

Overall, I agree with your assesments. Over the weekend i went in to look at 7 brand new Tundras in one single lot at my local Toyota dealership. I walked out without one. I just cannot justify $1200 payments. Car prices & payments in general are just stupid nuts at this point. A Capstone (what i wanted) was just a little over what I owe TOTAL on my house...sheesh!

@diamondhead203 Vehicle prices will only go up, but oversupply will decrease prices, I hope. The darn pandemic definitely played a huge role in these ridiculous prices. Payment isn't an issue at all. At this point, I'll continue to travel 😆 Plus, my Taco still puts smiles on my face every day, and it will probably outlive me 😆

@diamondhead203 msrp may go up, but actual prices paid I see going down. I just checked trade Value on my truck. As I do every so many months. And the trade Value dropped by 5k in the last few months. I see inventories increasing everywhere, even though tundra inventory still isn't great there are trucks on the lots. I am going to keep going without a payment as long as possible

First, let start out by saying that the pricing on all new vehicles lately is insane, especially after you add the options you want. I paid a little over 51k for my 2019 Tundra Limited Crew Max with the awesome 5.7L I-Force V8 with the TRD Off Road package. Once they took out the V8 as even an option, they lost me forever. There is no replacement for displacement as far as i'm concerned. The pricing on the New Tundra's for what you get is insane. Great job Toyota. My 2019 will be my last pick up i buy from Toyota unless they bring back the V8. I don't care what they say, the 5.7L was tried and true and they should have at least left it as an option for the new ones. Sorry Toyota but if i'm ever again in the market for a pick up, it will probably be a Ford or any brand that still kept the V8 option in the pick up line. To pay more for a Turbo V6 is just ROBBERY
@timalan7406
@timalan7406 10 ай бұрын
The price went way up in short period of time. In Nov of 2015 I had a choice between a 2016 4x4 Limited 4dr CrewMax 5.7L V8 FFV with Off Road package for $39,980 with rebaits and dealer discounts or a 2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road Double cab Long bed with premium technology package for $36,400. I chose the Tacoma- no regrets other than I only get 16 MPG, which is not much better the the Tundra. You'll need to keep that truck for life because, there will be no more v8's from any manufacture soon. I love the v8 also but, with the advancements in transmissions and hybrids the v8 really isn't needed.
@diamondhead203
@diamondhead203 10 ай бұрын
V8s in all manufacturers will be gone soon unfortunately. Not saying the 5.7 wasn’t great, but this new engine out performs it and is also a solid system. Toyota is not idiots…they know what they doing.

@@diamondhead203 then i guess my Tundra will DEFINITELY be the last truck i buy. I hope i will be able find parts for it years down the road. Never said toyota was stupid, i just look at the recent recalls on it's a good way to start out.
@diamondhead203
@diamondhead203 10 ай бұрын
@@randyfernandez1989 all trucks…all vehicles….all manufacturers deal with recalls. It’s mechanical and it’s just the way it is. Things break, things happen. But overall, Toyota has been a solid company leading in technology and overall still to this day produce the most dependable vehicles. This hybrid Truck and engine is very well designed. The battery system has a proven track record over many different platforms. The facts are….hybrids and full EV vehicles are the coming and nothing we can do about it. So, enjoy what you got and what you will end up getting, because it’s here to stay.

The great price increase happened in 2022. They literally raised the price by $15K. I got my 2019 1794 Mesquite Brown with TRD off road package and sunroof options brand new for about $47,000. MSRP was about $53,000. A 1794 MSRP was about $15,000 higher in 2022. I'm not playing their game anymore. Forget it. I am thoroughly enjoying spending my money on other things like household furniture, going out to eat, clothing, etc. No more for vehicles.

I don't know how much you drive but even if it is around average (12K per year) the 2020 you have is only 4 years old or around 48K miles. That still is new. I've had about every model of Toyota made over the past 30+ years and even the ones having 230K to 250K ran great when I sold them. It is super easy to hang onto a Toyota for 10 to 20 years unless you get bored with it.

In my opinion i would say a reasonable price for a Sr5 4x4 should start at 30,000. And then go up a couple thousand with each trim level and top out at about 45,000 with the capstone.And i absolutely don't give a rats tail bout what the market value crap says or stands for. If they really really want to sell one bad enough this is how it would happen!!!

What they did was put me, a first time truck buyer, is put me into a Honda Ridgeline. I didn’t necessarily need maximum performance but wanted to be able to haul and have room in the cabin to fit 4 comfortably. I wasn’t going to pay a mark up on an already premium priced tundra limited. The new normal for middle class is going to a mid-size truck IMO.

Mark, I am about to buy a 23. I have waited all this time for a good deal and finally have one. I never would pay a market adjustment or MSRP. It has taken all this time to finally get a deal. I think interest rates and more overall supply have helped me get a deal. Also being that the 24's are coming out and buying a 23. The pricing is ridiculous you are right with all manufacturers it is crazy. We just replaced my wife's Lexus from 2016 to 2024, and what I am finding is all these manufacturers are spending money on tech and using less quality materials on everything else. My 2016 was way better in quality leather, plastics etc. Yes, we have a big screen and carplay, but you can just tell the quality overall of the materials has gone down. But look at anything all appliances have all this tech, and they don't last 3 years. My fridge is going on 18 years, and I will never replace it unless it dies on me.

Just test drove one in SoCal 23 limited I force max TRD off road 75k after 5k dealer addons after taxes and registration it would be 80k. Just can’t see myself with payments at 1400 a month

20k mandatory markups here in California for all TRD Pros, and 10k markup for non TRD Pros. All the dealerships are in accord. So you can’t just go to a different dealership and try to get MSRP.

Paid $35k for my 2021 V8 limited used with 35k mi it also has the premium package. I will drive this for years. Damn these new prices. It’s ridiculous. You’re telling me that a 2024 is twice as good as my 2021? Not a chance. I’ll keep what I got.😎

You cannot say in one breath Army Green was hard to get and then say it was discontinued due to some reason...maybe because of sales numbers. The price of cars/trucks helps pay the salaries of executives and workers...of dealership employees too. Oh, and don't forget stockholders.

So one thing that bothers me about the packages that I've not really heard to much about is, Why can't you get a limited with the TRD Offroad Package, but add the Tow Mirrors as an Accessory? I mean I want a Long bed Crew cab with tow package with the Off road package. but I would love to have Tow mirrors! I mean I can get them after the fact. but they are what $280 as their own package.

Thats a weird one. I’ve seen the exact setup you want on the lot, with the tow mirrors.
@ryandegraw1192
@ryandegraw1192 10 ай бұрын
@@TundraDude34 you can't order them with tow mirrors and the TRD off Road package on any trim level. now you can get a 6.5 Bed 4x4 with Tow Mirrors and the trailer package, but not the TRD Off Road... They are just Mirrors Toyota, lol. Even if you build it online you can't get them. You have to buy them afterwards.
@ryandegraw1192
@ryandegraw1192 10 ай бұрын
they haven't come out with the 3" lift yet because if you get it from the factory, and you order a TRD off road, they wouldn't need to install the suspension, UCA, Shocks, Springs. and the Axles are all different. So I would hope they wouldn't charge you for the entire kit. so if it were close to $2500 instead of the $4k I think that would be perfect. Because you can currently buy that kit for that amount from several dealers. The Install shouldn't be really any different, since they would be installing it at the time of the build.

Thank God I bought my 2008 Toyota tundra 4 x 4 for 42,000 👍🏻 5.7 V8 and back Then that was still a lot of money 💵 Over 140,000 miles on it now and still going strong gas mileage still sucks though

I was going for a well equipped SR5 more for simplicity and less gussied up but pushing $60k here in Tampa =I’m out. Being wiser now I’m just not doing it. And wasn’t a fan of the army green sorry (looked base model).

100% agree about the pricing issue. Trucks are now doing what large SUVs did 15 years ago. There was a time that they were just big utility vehicles capable of hauling a lot of stuff or a lot of people. SUVs went ultra-luxury and the prices have become ridiculous. $80,000 for a grocery getter? Sheesh. Well, now we see that move happening in trucks. Sure, there's the base models with little or no creature comforts (Ford used to reign supreme in offering this stripped down working class model of the F150...), but most trucks are available in the highest trim package from $70k or $80k (and higher). A Tundra Capstone model is at my local dealer right now for just a bit over $80,000. Stupid. Beyond stupid. And manufacturers dealers don't even know what the word "incentive" is anymore.

The hard part about the pricing is that the genie is out of the bottle, and as we’ve been told it’s just near impossible to get that genie back in the bottle. The companies are in money grab mode, exacerbated by a stubbornness to ever take a step back. They seem to think that’s a huge sin, like it’s admitting their vehicles are sub par or something. I think it will have to be a dealer by dealer issue. It has to start there. Which dealers will have the integrity to agree with the consumers and do the right thing by giving big markdowns.

Yes the trucks are too expensive. They need to have four models and only come one way with all the features to lower the cost ? Thanks for sharing and you should have kept your TRD Pro 👍

Absolutely agree with the overpriced nonsense. With these interest rates, they should be ashamed of charging what they do. The fact that some greedy POS dealers then have the audacity to tack on “market adjustments” is criminal. I’m buying an HD truck in June since Toyota doesn’t want that business.

This is why I’m keeping my 2016 Toyota Limited. To justify these new prices these new trucks would have to raise gas mileage substantially.😬 I’ve got a Million mile truck that runs flawlessly and is Pd In Full👍😀

As you already stated, the pricing is obscene. It seems that Co-vid and lack of invetory allowed dealers to double the price and they do not want to letgo of those profits, manufacturers are also not helping by setting MSRP's so high

I still cannot believe they do not have tow hooks!!! The pricing is too high on these trucks. When I can get a HD LT Silverado gas or diesel for similar pricing, I will need to go from my 2016 Toyota tundra to a Chevy for the heavy tow capacity.

1000% agreed. The prices are ridiculous, but folks are paying for them. I like Toyota trucks, but I'm not planning to pay for $60/$70k truck. I remember paying in 2004 for a base Tundra SR5 Crewmax around $33K. Wow!
