I'm from centre county state college area. My brother and I both are in our young 20s. We have coonhounds and got into trapping 2 years ago. Such a learning process, Love the videos! Good work!
@KeystonetrapperАй бұрын
@Klayton_84 Klayton, trapping is a learning curve for sure but if you stick with it, I have know doubt you can really get into them. How the trapping going? I also really appreciate you watching my channel. Alot of what you see in my videos, will definitely apply to your line.

@@Keystonetrapperwe have Goodluck with bobcats and everything but Red fox and coyote. We have 17 traps out now. Tomorrow's gonna be the 3rd check of the year. Fingers crossed many first to come and learn! There's a local trapper here with a shop that's been a huge help. We thing our biggest problem is the bait we're using Dunlap soul taker with red fox urine.

Heck yeah, that is an amazing check day! Congratulations that is awesome! I agree with you on the bobcats. I get a bunch on camera, and actually avoid setting traps before their season in certain areas. Just trying to avoid them.

Yes, I do the same thing. I have lots of places on my line I would like to set for coyotes, but i know I would be catching cats. Hopefully sooner than later some things will change. Thanks for watching buddy! Tight chains

Just gave ya sub! hoping I can learn something here because man, I just started k9 trapping and I've been having a TON of trouble making a connection. Pullouts / snapped traps. Digouts. Just been a bit of a nightmare since we opened in Oct and I have good properties... just... not connecting on anything.
@KeystonetrapperАй бұрын
Lets start with pullouts....if your trap is pulled straight out of the bed and no catch circle, it's almost guaranteed a deer. Digouts can be tough....but this is were I would suggest a sleeper set were he was standing while digging your set out. Almost guaranteed he will dig from the same spot again if he decides to work it again. Fix your hole back to how it was when you made it. The next thing is loose soil. Coon love to dig trough loose soil on the inside of the jaws of your trap. Many times they will, flip your trap out of the bed but not understanding what's going on. Make sure your making solid sets. Really pack that dirt out side of your jaws so it's firm till the very last step wich is on your pan. Trapping has it's growing pains, but I can assure you once you start catching a few k9 it will just get easier from there. If you have questions please ask. Also, if you know a local trapper see if he can spend a afternoon with you. Will really help with having a veteran trapper guiding you. Tight chains !! Keep in touch!!

Starting my 3rd year. Ill start setting after deer season. Been getting fox on trail cams so hopefully ill connect. A few yotes but not consistently on trail cams. What part of the state are you in? Just curious cause of the number of bobcats. Im in SW Pa. Dont think a high population of them here. Never seen one but im sure they are around.
@KeystonetrapperАй бұрын
Best of luck to you!! I hope you connect on some fur this season. If your down around Pittsburgh, I believe there is a decent amount of fur down that way. I will be resetting after deer also. Again thabk you so much for watching!! Really appreciate it!!

Trapping is lane. Was meant for before technology was prime, or for when survival was much harder.. Trapping killed off and almost extinct many populations back in the day- beavers, wolverines, wolves. Hunting is awesome but yeah trapping is lazy and bogus.
