This is the exact bike I want… same color and everything!!! I hear that you have to have an Android to use the APP… I have the IPHONE… is that a problem with TUNE ECU? Also, I did my own service on my KTM 690 SMCR that I owned and I never had a warranty claim , so it wasn’t an issue… but, if I do like you did with Triumph, is it an issue voiding the warranty doing your own service? Some people swear that it will void it, but in USA , I believe it’s illegal for them to deny your warranty work because you service it yourself. You just have to keep receipts and maybe the pictures and a video like you did, of the service being done on time. Excellent video by the way!

The warranty will still be valid so long as you document service being done on time and with the correct parts. As for TuneECU, it's android only. You could buy a cheap used android phone without a sim card in it to do this.

Thanks for sharing. In the least obnoxious way possible, allow me to correct the comment about adjusting the spring "rate" on the shock. The rate is an inherent quality of the spring which cannot be adjusted. Only spring preload can be adjusted, which essentially determined where in the shock stroke the rider sits (to be adjusted based on rider weight or for +1) but doesn't actually adjust the rate (i.e. stiffness). Sharing for those that may be curious as unfortunately the suspension isn't very adjustable.

All good. I understand what you mean. The compressed spring feels stiffer to the rider than the uncompressed spring. In a way, you are indeed adjusting the rate of compression by preloading or decompressing using the presets.
@EMuybridge2 ай бұрын
@@KenWoods actually the spring will feel identical. The preload just impacts how much sag there is at rest. Preload won’t impact stiffness, whether real or perceived, only sag

@@EMuybridge Penske has a decent article on this. It takes more force to compress the preloaded spring that it does the unloaded spring. It's the very definition of increasing the stiffness of the ride. You're absolutely right that the spring rate doesn't change, but the further the spring compresses, the more force the spring will require to continue compressing. "If your spring’s rate is 1kg/mm, when you compress the spring by 1mm, it will exert a force of 1kg back. When you turn the preload adjuster and add 5mm of mechanical compression, the spring would exert 5kg back. To compress it further, you’d need to apply more than 5kg of force. Do you really have to remove the exhaust to adjust preload? I’m a big fat dude, so i would have to max that out more than likely. I’m about 6’2” and big , so I was a bit worried about looking like a bear on roller skates, but I also did on the 690 anyway 😂. Still leaning towards this bike regardless.

@@sigberetta72 Yeah, but it's not difficult. A few bolts, move the cans out of the way, and adjust.

Keep your receipts, document your service mileage. If you come up on a warranty item, you'll need to demonstrate that you have done the required maintenance.

@KenWoods question so my bike is 4 months odd but hasn't hit 1000km yet should I wait for the service light to come on at 1000km or do I have to do it based on time instead I think manual service 1 month or 1000km whichever comes first just don't want to void warranty due to time
@KenWoods4 ай бұрын
@FunWithAJ I would recommend (based on conversations with my dealer) that your 1st service be done within 6 months or 1,000kms.

Sucks you have to buy something to service your own motorcycle 🏍️ Plus, I have iphone, not android, so that won’t work either 🤦🏼♂️ I guess no speed twin and rocket 3 for me 😭
