My experience with the fuel gauge is the same with my 2023 Speedmaster. The tank needs to be filled right to the top of the neck so that the gauge registers as full and solves the problem.

Good review. Thanks. Ive heard others mention the heat issue so I dont think that's unique to your own bike. About the wiring, yours seems to have the round indicators rather than the standard thin oval ones? If so then whoever fitted then may have caused that wiring issue.

I don't lock the inner fuel cap. Just pop the monza and twist the cap. Easy peasy

Isn't the fuel cap the same as scrambler 1200s? I just leave mine unlocked, don't have to use the key.

Would recommend turning the monza fuel cap round so that it opens towards the bars. It's easy to do, there's a vid on KZbin somewhere.

I test rode one of these a few weeks ago and the ONE issue I had with it was the heat coming off the engine. My legs were really warm. It wasn't super uncomfortable but I could see it being a real issue on a hot day or in heavy traffic. Surprised none of the other reviews I've seen have mentioned this. Also curious if this is just endemic to most larger displacement engines or this bike in particular?

It's partly owing to the large displacement of the engine, but emissions requirements also have an impact on how hot the engine runs, along with the catalyst underneath the engine. Removing/deleting the catalyst apparently makes a noticeable difference.

Well done Ollie, great insight. It would be useful to know how tall you are. I'm 6' and even then there are a lot of bikes which give me cramp!

If you get rid of the cat and O2 sensors I've noticed a much cooler ride compared to my 865 Bonnie. Of course when the fan comes on it blows heat just like any other liquid cooled bike. I normally ride in ambient temps of 20° to 32°C, no problem if you keep moving.

Ye all the bonnies run pretty hot and unfortunately i can't get rid of the cat which is the cause of the heat at least where i leave at it seems bike inspections will be a thing over here.

Yup, burning knees was the only reason I didn't buy a speed twin. Settled for the 2023 XSR900, which runs much much cooler, don't know why but it does so I bought it instead.

Apparently removing the catalyst can make a notable difference, and emissions requirements also affect how hot the engine runs. It's not the worst but it is noticeable.

To my knowledge the HP engine is only used on the out going Thruxton and the Speed Twin. The other 1200s are HT….. am I right?

An initial impressions review of a 5 year old bike? I'd say not a big deal except 2021 was a refresh year so a few major things have been changed such as the exhaust and especially the rmfront suspension

The TEC dueller is a great choice, and if you have the pre 2020 model you can bypass the CAT without having to remove it. In my case I've just got a pair of Weslake end-cans. Hope this helps!
