I own the 2023 Tiger 1200 GT Pro and I don't understand the complaints about vibrations. Does it vibrate? Yes, but not excessively. It's a motorcycle. It's supposed to be alive. If you want no vibes, stay on your couch.

Much like chilies people feel vibrations very differently. Rode a friends Versys 650 and it was like having an electric toothbrush under each boot, he felt nothing. Very odd, but that’s life.

These journalists never seem to feel the BMW g's vibes though , for some reason. Example when testing the new Stelvio Moto Guzzi a journo complained of the slight rock at idle when throttle blipped , but loved the character of the BMW when it did the same thing

I own a 2023. I wouldnt have bought the bike without the engine being the way it is. Been riding for over 10 years now. Been on everything from a vespa, to my 200mph modified ZX14r and everything in between. The vibey T Plane is my favorite engine ive ever had the opportunity to operate. It genuinely feels like the bike is a animal beneath you, and it rewards you differently at different RPMs. The smoothness of every other engine ive experienced now feels almost like some electric car, and the tiger is SO SO satisfying to open up and feel it come alive underneath you like some muscle car. But yes, if you want to hop on the highway and drone out to eat up miles and nothing else, sure, get a goldwing or K1600, or better yet, take a car. But i stand by it, the 2022, and 2023 tiger is something different, something special, something that actually feels alive.

I owned a Tiger 900 which I really loved. Best mid class ADV I have ever owned. Then I went for the 2022 Tiger 1200 Rally Pro. The same engine concept as the T900 but it was in no way as enjoyable as the T900. And by far not as compy as the T900 (or my 2013 Tiger Explorer). I did an off-road tour in Spain followed by an 4 week trip in Austria with it. I really missed the T900. The T1200 Rally Pro was quite a disappointment. So I'm very happy with the 2024 update. Better engine, better clutch and clutch lever, no stalling in low revs and a better seat!

Engineering vibration in with the crank & then engineering it out with the balance shaft…. F9 would have a heart attack. Thanks to Moto2 the 765 engine is a masterpiece… racing improves the breed not over complicating a problem that wasn’t there in the first place

With regard to the vibs on the 22 & 23 models - many owners like me have added Evotech's bar end weights. They are a game changer as far as we are concerned. Gone are the intrusive vibs which would numb your hands after less than an hour!

I've ridden my '23 Rally Explorer for hours on end, down the highway and I've never understood the complaints about vibration. After about 130 km/h there's a bit, but I killed that with bar end weights and Grip Puppies. It's pretty rare I go faster than that for an extended period because I need my licence to make a living. As far as stalling is concerned, that may have simply been a mapping issue. Mine stalled on me once as I slowed down in 2nd gear and pulled the clutch in. At its first service, there was a firmware update and it hasn't done it in the 10,000 kms since. I've ridden a '24 and the differences made aren't enough for me to take a loss on a trade. Very happy camper here.

Sorry bro. That feeling of yours is called decision reinforcement. The fact that Triumph has made the changes is that the problem existed. One look at the sales chart shows the GS is king of the class. BMW had 40 years to perfect their machine and it shows. The Tiger will always be the second best in the ADV class for a while.

@@uttamgala7186 Yes the 1200s are out on big discounts at least in the US. I saw one for 1000s off MSRP and free panniers. BMWs are also discounted but still not by much. I brought my GSA last year for much under MSRP due to overstock by dealers and timing. Plus the BMW is more accessible for shorter riders with factory low suspension. The old Tiger came with low suspension and new one deleted and added a gimmick when sales were bad. Its really hard to make a bad bike these days. Sadly the bigger Tiger will sit on the shelf in spite of its strengths

Had the 22 GT Pro and really suffered with the vibes through the bars. Sold it after 7000 miles. What did transform the riding was a set of Dunlop Roadsmart 4's. The Dunlops sat the bike a little higher which helped with the ground clearance and made it so much easier to put on the main stand. Got a Multi V4s now. Great review.

I also don't need/like all the tech jammed into the latest versions of anything. My cat has ride modes and a non-LCD display. Changing preload is not the same as adding weight. If there is no statistic sag with a lighter person on board the bike will drop more with the bike loaded with a heavier person. If the bike has static sag adjusting the preload will adjust the position of the shock within the spring regardless of the weight.

Good review. I'd like to tour in Scotland again. I've got a '23 Rally Pro and this does sound like a good enhancement of the engine. I found vibes only mildly annoying when cruising at 80mph+, which luckily isn't most of my riding, but it would be nicer without them. Overall though, it is great bike. You get used to the size, the performance is excellent and with 50/50 tyres I've just fitted it was surprisingly competant on muddy green lanes. With the suspension in sport it is stiff enough for twisty roads while it can be very relaxed with the damping dialled right back.

Sadly, my 2023 GT Pro has been written off by a car driver who "didn't see me". The bike was immaculate with just 4500 miles. But how shocked was I with the offer from Bennetts/AGEAS - £14K. So apparent from bad depreciation, Triumph's "update" or should I say "fix" has dumped the prices of 2022/3 models. I'm just glad I didn't have a Rally Pro, they are even worse! I'm pretty unhappy as I would have kept my bike for 5 years to reduce the depreciation. It's a superb bike, having come from mostly inline 4's I loved the response of the T Plane engine. But I can't shake the feeling that I've very been unlucky and the marketing of these updates for 2024 have done nothing to help me.

The 2023 takes a long time to break in. After 20,000 miles and 3 recommended service/maintenance calls, vibes became an afterthought at reasonable highway speeds. I almost sold it because the snatchy throttle was continually jerking my back. Fuel delivery is now notably smoother. Stalling upon take off - and slowing to a stop - is of course dangerous in traffic, but stalling is now uncommon in comparison to when it was a lower mileage bike. At first the adjustable seat seemed gimmicky, but i've learned how and when to use it and glad that it's manually operated. I rarely use the home button for anything beyond lowering the seat anyway. Though I would like to see the seat height button on the left - as occasionally I'll juggle the throttle and seat height at the same time - but no big deal. My 1200 Rally Pro has now logged 32,750 miles.

Put 500 hard twisty canyon miles on it in less a week, and then i traded her in due to 2 reasons: the first is cornering clearance - you said they raised the pegs. The 2nd reason was driveshaft lash/klunk, which I'd feel going from off-throttle to on-throttle at speed, which would upset suspension and chassis mid-corner, as id start to roll-on. Great review, but I wish you'd keep both hands on the 'bars. You're a much more experienced rider than me, but I can't help thinking, if you came across a rock in the middle of the road, or a patch of oil mid-turn, you'd have much more chance of staying on if both hands were involved.

As a long time Triumph owner, who still has *three* 120 Triumph degree triples & 4 cyl multies, for me Triumph can truly stick the T plane crank where the sun doesnt shine. Why they had to mess with the lovely 120 degree motors & saddle it with a vibey T plane crank & very heavy shaft is beyond me 🤷 And no I dont like bavarian twins either ! The 1200RS Speedie motor is so much smoother by comparison. So i for one i shant be buying any more Triumphs or BMW's that feel like twins 🙄

@@andrewshore262 The V4S Multistrada is a much better option for me, however I just don't want the complexity of Radar & machine speed control taken away from the rider by 6 axis imu etc either, so my Tiger SE, 94R Speedie & Street are staying, I'll probably continue to invest in more classic bikes & other vehicles, as the current Triumphs are just not for me 🤷 A 120 degree 1200RS engined chain driven Sprint RS1200 or Tiger Sport RS1200 with 17" wheels would change my mind however 🤘

@@Nell1052 The V4 Ducati Multi is a cracking machine……at one hell of a price, not sure if you’ve taken one out (not comfortable over distance for me it’s the seat) but the performance / handling put it right at the top. That said the only real complaint I have about my Triumph 1200 GT Pro isn’t vibration it genuinely is not an issue, but it will sporadically stall which if you’re not careful will bite you hard. So I’m not very impressed with situation Triumph has left owners in following this update / refresh. Fortunately for me I bagged an ex demo about a year ago with less than a 1000 miles on it and a big lump of money off the asking, love the bike, love the brand but unhappy with this latest move that’s how it goes sometimes. Hopefully they can resolve using software.

A one handed review. Talk about talking with your hand …at speed. Bogus that those of us that purchased the 23’ RP has to just deal with the stalling, vibes, and the rough idling issues. Did I mention the poor dealership service structure here in the states? If I could trade for non triumph without losing my shirt I would. I won’t buy another one.

So they made a bike with an inherently unbalanced crank design which they have now had to modify to avoid unnecessary vibration and added weight to increase inertia to stop it stalling, combined with making the bike too tall for most users and have now had to add a height reduction feature….feels like they have tried too hard to appeal to a very small band of customers who are actually going to use off road…..

i owned the 2023 GT Explorer, but it stalled consistently, the dealership could only replicate the stall occasionally and therefore Triumph would not cover the problem under warranty. the following year they increased the weight of the crankshaft and flywheel in an effort to resolve this. Triumph never ever publicly addressed this problem or offered any recall for repair, if Triumph want to be a luxury company, then they need to start acting like one. save yourself a headache, go get a BMW.

A tremendous technical tour de force. But. So big. So heavy. So complicated. So expensive. I wouldn't dare take it on anything other than tarmac. And easy riding. The rumored 660 explorer is much more at my level, and might efen be affordable. Strange, but the bike that excites me most at the moment is the CF450MT. Which i guess says a lot about me. But if it's as good as it looks its a genuine go anywhere teavel bike. At just over a quarter of the price of this. The manufacturers of big bikes like this are losing sight of where it's at. ( my opinion) Ride safe 👍

The vibration problems are minimum compared with the clutch problems. I don't care if they made it in Indonesia, in China in moon, Triumph must see the problem seriously and starting recalling the bikes and fix them. They ask 24000 euro for the rally explorer so they must get serious and give a solution to Tiger owners.

A bizarre review... And bizarre updates by Triumph. I have a 2023 GT Pro, but all that Triumph are doing to market their updated model is to suggest their old one was flawed. I'm very much in the camp that it is not flawed and this is all b*LL*x . Still I blame owners who unlike BMW owners are happier moaning about every minor point. Perhaps they should go and get a 1300GS and "enjoy" some of the issues with that bike. I bet the average rider won't notice any difference from these tweaks, but Triumph will pi$$ off their existing owners. By the way the suspension thing applies to the 22/23 models after a software update (you do mention it but others may miss it)
