So, one of my girlfriends when I was in my 20's once told me that we needed to have a serious conversation. I was like, sure. Let's communicate babe. Then we sat down, and she says she wants to tell me about all the little things that bug her about me. And I listen, and she gets really animated, and let's out regarding some stuff that I had no idea about. And I listen some more, making sure not to interrupt her. Then at the end of her getting this stuff off her chest, she jumps up, gives me a big hug around my neck, and says, "I guess that's why I really love you." This review is like that, only about a bike.

My wife has a 2022 GT Low. She is 5'3" and it was one of the very few bikes that work for an experienced shorter rider who likes to tour. The low seat was not great, and the knee bend issue is real. The Triumph comfort seat combined with 1" up and 1" back bar riser made it perfect. Its a shame that they discontinued the low version for 2024.

Just a two cents regarding the interface: it's a common issue in many, maaany places. You get an interface designed by someone who is not necessarily a rider and not always in a way that is user friendly.
@Talishar2 ай бұрын
The issue engineers have is that they're usually given a very strict budget that's almost impossible to adhere to. This is coupled with a relatively underperforming processor. This results in not having very much memory to work with and a processor seemingly out of a graphing calculator. This means that the entire OS and UI has to be extremely lightweight and require very little memory and very low processing power in order to keep it super responsive. They're then given the control layout and told that they have to get it all to work with the chosen layout. Then they have to remember that they need to keep some memory in reserve for maintenance, data collection, some user settings and a page file. When you look at the specs that the engineers are given, it's freaking amazing what they've come up with. It's especially important when you remember that these have to be 100% waterproof, weatherproof and sun/UV proof.

I think this is the first time I heard that Doodle's inseam is 31" -- all this time the hook was that she was not just a new rider (back in the beginning) but that she was a short new rider -- but in what world is a 31" inseam short? I have a 25" inseam, for instance.
@pocketlint826 ай бұрын
I showed this channel to my gf when she started riding. she is 5ft and has like a 24" inseam and she had a similar sentiment. Doodle isn't actually short. I'm a 5'6 male and have a 30in inseam. I wish my legs were as long as doodles haha. Maybe I'd be able to reach the ground on a tiger 900. I crossed it off my list cause I couldn't even tip toe

Right on! I don't understand how riders with 30" inseam or more consider themselves short.. They have way more leg length to tripod the bike in the event of an unexpected stopping situation. Riders with inseam under 26" can truly be called shorties 🤭
@AT2Productions5 ай бұрын
@@zakheyI think part of the reason we riders with a 31” inseam or below are seen as short riders is less to do about the bikes. Look at riding pants, good luck finding pairs that aren’t 32” or 34” inseams. I had to go with a “short” version of my current touring/wet/cold weather pants because of the inseam length.

If you're still looking for a backrest, take a look at Sargent aftermarket seats. I bought a seat and a backrest for my 2017 BMW 1200 GS. If I do a full day of riding, my back gives me a little trouble be the end of the day. The Sargent backrest helps. The backrest for my GS is a compromise. It makes the seat hard to remove, and it would get in the way for any serious adventure riding, but I use mine almost exclusively for touring. Oh, and I went through a similar experience with the color. I bought my GS as a leftover so there were no color options. Fortunately, the color has grown on me and I don't see many in this color on the road.

If you want to “solve” your seat issue, a Russel Day Long saddle will do it. It’s a custom seat they build on your stock seat pan. It’s not cheap and it’s a pain in the ass to get done, but it lives up to the name. Only warning I have is that it can make you ground reach even worse. They can add a back rest too, but it really won’t do much on the upright riding position of your bike. It can be heated too. It’s better than any prebuilt after market seat, I will never own a bike without one now.

Unless you are boulder jumping, the Tiger 900 GT with good tires, skid plate, crash bars, etc. like you have will more than handle most off-road adventure touring. And I love your blue color over the red - personal choices. I ride a 850 GS, rode the 900 GT and prefer the Triumph, so my next bike will be the GT, which I do plan to take off road, so another set of Anakee Adventures. The 900 Rally is just too tall for me at 66 years old, 5'7" with a 30" inseam. Yes, I know all the techniques, but still prefer a lower seat for many reasons. Enjoy what you have to its fullest! Trouble with tall bikes is stopping on uneven roads. If you do not see it coming or misjudge your stop, you can topple over. E.g. if the road is sloped from left to right, or there's a deep pothole. You need to use one foot down on the side of the bike where the road is higher. Miss that on approach or be off balance to put the wrong foot down, and you risk falling over. Having said this though, Doodle's skills are really impressive. Those clips of driving over logs and other stunts, slow speed skills, etc, are stunning. Stunning! No other word for it. With that level of experience, the bike becomes and extension of yourself and handling is second nature. Still need to be on full alert though. I suppose however, when you get used to dropping your bike it's not too bad. Especially with those bars. (Finger's crossed.) One thing I used to think about was Doodle's moto-cross riding. I remember a video or two where the group were on taller moto-cross bikes. This was early days in training, and lots of fun. I remember Doodle dropping one, and bending a gear shifter lever. (Oops. 🙂) Anyway Doodle rode a 250cc over a 125cc when offered a choice. I think the 250cc was generally bigger. Doodle had a few minor misshaps. Not being critical, but at the time I was going to suggest paying for her to retake the course. (It was still a fledgling channel then, compared to now.) However this time using the 125cc. ... I mean, Doodle talked about redoing courses anyway. It would have been a reason for another great video. It was not meant as a put-down to Doodle at all. Or finding fault in riding tall bikes. I wanted to see if she had fun with the smaller bike, since 125cc bikes are a blast. Or if it was a better stepping stone to moving up to bigger taller bikes. I feel no matter what I say I will be judged as thinking I know best. Or patronising. That's not what I mean though. (EDIT: Possibly why I never suggested it, through fear or being seen as insulting.)

I found the odometer. Go to the tire pressure screen and move the joystick right. Front and center is when you're due for service (miles remaining or date). But in the upper right corner is the odometer. This also explains the two numbers you see on shutdown - at the top is the odometer, at the bottom is "miles to next service". But I agree with your basic premise, that the user interface was designed by a committee of grocery store managers, not motorcyclists.

Fantastic vid and another excellent review. You have convince me NOT to upgrade. I have a 2017 Tiger Explorer and it's awesome! Heavy as a tank and not well suited for any serious off-roading but it crushes sport-touring and some off-pavement areas. It has a mixed analog/digital screen- the old monochromatic kind and the GUI is reasonably intuitive. I really like having the trip odo visible, so not having it at all (or buried somewhere in the software) is close to a dealbreaker. 1) Agree about the knees. Throw in a "Meerkat" every-so-often and stand up for a bit. Additionally, that allows for some toe-ups on the pegs and will also re-orient the pant and jacket when seated. 2) I have a trucker's gel-foam seat pad that I bought during a cross-country drive in a huge Penske moving van. Saved my ass then and continues to do the job. $30. It also changes my leg angle and other ergos since I sit about an inch (25mm) higher. I don't use it all the time and just strap it over my bags for the first 150-200 miles. Will try one of the Airhawks or similar when this wears out. 3) Wrap it. And get it done by a professional. Cost probably between $850-1200. You can get exactly what you want AND it can be removed if the buyer is in the Blue Man Group. 4) The twisties... a variety of choices but I'm a disciple of Yamaha Champions Riding School. As part of ChampSchool, they run a 1-day ChampStreet program that uses your own bike on a track with all Moto-champions as instructors. Costs less than a good helmet. 5) Ahhh... that SWEET triple! Nothing else really quite the same. From a vanity perspective, I get a LOT of comments on the bike when I stop. The mid-Atlantic region is mostly the HD bois so something different that has that smooth growl of a tiger gets the attention. Love the channel!

you are right, the seat was horrible, I choose to get the Sargent setup. It's really nice now. What Tank bars did you end up choosing? My rally pro didn't come with tank guards. Thanks.

I've been riding 40+ years and have tried every type cushion you can think of and only get maybe 30 minutes more of riding time before you feel the butt burn. I don't waste my money anymore. Buy a good quality aftermarket seat and gain many more pleasurable miles.

I used that air bubble thing once or twice, and then got a Seat Concept seat cushion and cover for my Versys 650, "remodeled" my seat and I never looked back. Sure, it was more expensive but definitely worth it for me.

I had a 2005 V-Strom 650. On long trips, I used an AirHawk seat pad. To avoid feeling like you are balancing on top of the pad, you have to air it down until your butt is on the seat and the pad is just providing support. When the seat on the V-Strom wore out, I replaced it with the Suzuki gel seat. I never used the AirHawk after that. I don't know what is available for the Tiger or how effective it might be, but if you have an opportunity to try out a gel seat, it might be worth switching.

Nice. Haven't watched you in awhile. This was a great episode. It flowed so well. It makes me glad that you are still doing these videos. I didn't check the date.. I tried to compute your binary shirt in my head...... Didn't get very far. Thanks for the honesty, it stands alone.

I have a 2017 1200cc version which has a more dated user screen. However, my main issue is the fact that the switches/controls don’t illuminate at night (all my previous Hondas did this) - so operating them at night is a bit of guesswork. Also agree the seat is a bit hard. Other than that, great all round bike ( might not be good for shorter riders - but hey, you’ve got the pick of just about every other bike)

Thank you for your reviews/opinions/tips it’s very helpful in my decision on my next ride choice (especially as I’m short as well), and you’re exactly as your shirt says.

I honestly can't believe you find that air seat comfortable! I had that exact product I tried on a trip from Seattle to Phoenix and found it made me hurt more with it then without. I tried fully inflated, half inflated all kinda other inflated and found it horrible! I left that thing at my buddies in Phoenix cuz his wife liked it on the barstools they use in the garage lol..., It's interesting how what works awesome for one rider won't work at all for the next....Love your Tiger 900 BTW! I'm on a 2016 Tiger 800 right now and of all the bikes I ever owned before I think I enjoy the Tiger the most!

Hello! Love your channel and you inspired me to get back into riding; I own a Triumph Tiger Sport 660 and I'm still struggling on the slow speed skills since it sits up so much higher than my old bike which was a cruiser, but I hated the color options too so I wrapped mine with a purple/blue duo chrome from vivvd vinyls and it came beautifully! If you want to see let me know and I'll find a way to share! Stay safe and thanks for inspiring us female riders!!! If you want a content suggestion I would love to see you show if you've found a difference on tight turns from cruiser style to adventure to sport bikes since I've found there is a bit of a difference! I'm recovering from a broken foot bone since I went down practicing tight turns but hoping to be back on mine in a couple more weeks! ❤🏍️

I agree with many of the comments... I love the blue color. BUT... My first road bike was also blue so maybe I am biased. Now I have two red, two black, and a gray bike.

Kudos to your production approach. I see you puzzle fitting content from many different days and locations, and synthesizing several videos out of it. The style reminds me of a BBC science series Connections by James Burke from the 1970s. I see what you are doing, and celebrate it.

I have a 900 Rally, that seat is hard. I put on 11000 miles last summer,the Airhawk made 100s of miles a day doable. I can see the odometer on the screen that has miles until service on it, top right.

The only problem I had with my Tiger 800 was that my head vibrated in the turbulence behind the screen. It was solved by fitting a Madstad screen, but it did annoy me that Triumph couldn’t fit a decent screen in the first place. Apart from that, it was for me, a brilliant day-to-day and touring bike; it was comfortable, handled really well, very reliable, and economic to run.

Maybe try getting a vinyl wrap done to whatever color you want? Personally I love the color but I think the lower/side fairing color is wrong

I understand about the color. I really liked the Pearl/black paint on the Triumph Bonneville. I wanted that color for mine. The dealer said they could get one, but not at my price. I settled on the red/black T100 instead.

34 inch inseam here. Basically any bike I ride, I can't get anywhere close to a 90 degree angle. Triumph also tends to have slightly sporty ergos ,(leaned forward) on all the Tigers. It's not a very relaxing position and knee pain is a thing. I also agree that Triumphs TFTs are awful. Definitely designed by engineers. Kind of curious what you think of the Tiger Sport 660. In red. I have heard only good things and they look gorgeous in person. Very sleek and seems very nimble. I would absolutely get one.

yes, the seat can be tiring, the RPM graphs are different but can be difficult to read, other than that I love my bike, my color is red and it looks fantastic

That's cool to know that you just slap on new tires and can take on trails. I had thought about getting a more off road bike but I realized I want to do more road miles. I'll get a dirt bike for off road fun. Still debating between the Tiger and the Tracer 9 GT+

It’s not perfect 😅 gotta switch to off-road mode every time I turn it on and turn off traction control if I wanna take it off-road
