2024 Ubiquiti Unifi Door Access

THANK YOU!!! This is the 1st time I use Unifi Access. When I received the G2 Starter Kit, I noticed after the install it was only for 1 door. Because of your video, I was able to get the 12v Adapter and use the dry connection in the HUB to control the 2nd door. Now I need to figure out how to open the door using the dry connection remotely LOL. While logged in, I can only open the door with the G2 Keypad.

Hi. Try disconnecting the powered strike by the UA-Hub and test the G2 again. It should open. Then reconnect and see if both strikes open.

I have experience installing Johnson Controls door systems. In my experience the dry relay is used to control an alarm, camera or something as the door opens. I used mine to take a picture and email it whenever the door was unlocked. If the door #2 is wired to the dry relay, then by unlocking door #1 is should also unlock door #2. The wiring depends if the strike for door #2 is fail open or fail closed. If fail closed, then it will use 12V to open the door. The 12V positive wire should go to the common and then the 12V positive going to the strike should connect to the NO (Normally Open) output on the hub. When you swipe the card to open door #1 it will close the NO relay for door #2 which will send 12v to the strike releasing the door. If fail open, then that means 12V is constantly applied to the door to keep it closed, it will remove the 12V to open the door. The 12V positive wire should go to the common and then the 12V positive going to the strike should connect to the NC (Normally Closed) output on the hub. When you swipe the card to open door #1 it will open the NC relay for door #2 which will remove the 12v to the strike releasing the door. Hopefully that all makes sense...

@@loufilla7202 I was able to resolve and see that both strikes open. I thought using the Dry connections would allow to open a 2nd door individually. For now it doesn't bother much, but I see myself getting a 2nd hub so the 2nd door doesn't unlock with the 1st.

Your first video was awesome and it answered many questions. This video follows the same process and is informative. I would love to see a scenario detailing Double Doors with Mag Locks on a single Hub with an Outside Reader Pro and and Inside Reader, Motion Sensor and Emergency Bars. So many businesses have Double Entry Doors that require them both to be opened from a single point inside or outside.

I bought one of the chimes like the one in your video. It sounds better than the one I initially purchased. It wished that it would ring the entire length of the ring function on the reader. The reader shows that it's still ringing even though the chime has stopped. Other than that, it sounds great.

I am interested in purchasing the Hub to control a side door next to my exit gate at a condo and I was thinking if is possible to use the Poe out put ports for two cameras and a door reader… The three ports are Poe and 15w max each. @@EleanaOre Thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it! Yes you absolutely can connect a camera to the UA-HUB. I have it at several of my schools. I also pair that camera with door access and so every time someone swipes in it takes two angles of the person to verify who they are. Hope this helps! :)

Hello, thanks for the great video! Can you explain to me how to connect a Honeywell 313s wired doorbell to the access controller? I have the following contacts on the doorbell: A1, A2 / B1, B2 | AC1, AC2 Is this possible with the voltage from the access controller or do i need an external power supply? Thank you

Thanks for the video! I'm looking into getting a Unifi setup for my small condo building. However, I cannot seem to find the answer to what I'm looking for. We have a vestibule setup with 1 exterior door & 1 interior door. We need an Intercom to open both doors at once when guests request to enter. However, we need to have doors open separately when residents enter- I'm assuming entering using the exterior door with the intercom and a g2 reader for the interior door. But how do I set this up? Do I need two access hubs? Is this even possible to configure this situation with a Unifi system? Thanks for any input!!

@@sergeyklassen9696 So in theory you can just use the phone without any subscription and login with your UI account right on the apps themselves. On the PBX question not sure. I tried it about a year ago and was not successful. I went with the Talk subscription as it is only $120 a year. Hope this helps! :)

Thank you for your video. Is it possible, in your opinion, to connect 2 G2 Reader Pros to only 1 access hub to control 2 different doors? My situation is this: I live in a condominium and with 1 access hub I would like to control the opening of the condominium door where I will install the first G2 with an electric lock, and with the second G2 I would like to control my apartment door with a magnetic lock. amazing! its possible to use for 2 doors to open and check if the door is open? i see 2 dry and 1 dps.. can you use rex o r rel for door position too?

@@Kiloptero great question. To be honest I have never attempted two door position switches as one was interior. If I were to guess though you could plug both door position switches into the DPS setting. It would probably trigger if either or both doors were opened. Not a great solution but it would let you know. Hope this helps!

Again, another great video. Is there a way to connect to an existing doorbell chime that uses a 16v transformer? I'm just trying to use existing infrastructure. I bought a 12 volt ringer from Amazon. It sounds horrible. I don't want to install it. Funny thing is that it got great reviews.

@@tchaikovskygoss7410 Unfortunately not. The only Unifi product that can use any kind of 16v system is the Unifi G4 Doorbell Pro in the Protect app. Hope this helps. :)

Hi, I see that officially UniFi Access supports Mifare Classic 1k cards, however it is unclear that if it uses the encryption keys on the card to increase security. Does it uses the key on Mifare Classic 1k cards?

I’d like to use the system as a log or notification system when a door is open. Similar to your black door sensor. I have the same in white, from Honeywell. I have several of those I’d like to connect and be able to see when a door was opened or closed. I only see one DPS input on the access hub though?

Yes that is what the light does in the video. You can hook up a siren also to alert you.

@@ropiko not to alert you that a door is open. You best bet there is to login to Unifi Access remotely and there it tells you if a door is open or closed in the app.

Is the Ubiquiti Unifi Protect G4 Doorbell compatible with the Ubiquiti UniFi Access Hub UA-HUB door controller? I want to install this doorbell at my house's yard gate and be able to open the gate remotely.

Hi. No not at this time. You can pair a door chime with a UA-G2 PRO reader. I am sure you will be able to in the future is my best guess.

Yes you can. Just follow the video below and instead of the UA-LITE install another G2-PRO. Finally I would actually recommend you purchase a UA Intercom for the gate and a G2-PRO for your door. I am testing the UA Intercom now and will have a video soon. Good luck!

I got it back in 2023. Probably shouldn't say this but Ubiquiti stocks it's equipment on its website very early. The problem is that it is gone within minutes. So your best bet is to check inventory very early in the morning. They actually have items in stock! :) Hope this helps

No. You can use any 12v strike. You can even use a 24v strike but it will need to be plugged into the "dry" port on the UA-HUB.

the keypad is a horrible idea. An intruder can just rip id of and bridge the cables to get access.

I guess not knowing how they are installed in the environment you wouldn't know. I'm not sure where you live but I guarantee you wouldn't be able to rip it from anywhere. My guess it would take over 4 minutes in my install to rip it out. By then I have gotten three alerts you are near my keypad so nice try.

@@loufilla7202 if you use a propper keypad with the logic in a seperate box this problem is solved. Depending on the design of the keypad you can even avtivate its output using a strong magnet.

I'm not sure what your point is other than to point out a flaw that you don't know how it is installed or monitored by the camera system. This is simply a tutorial video demonstrating the door system. Jeez

@@loufilla7202 nope. the card you can get from ubiquity (MIFARE DESFire) cant be cloned that easy. The card does not work like a key or password! The reader sends a chalange to the card, the card then answers it. so the actual "key" never leaves the card, so you have no way to copy it and emulate the card. BTW: its the same with Credit cards to.

How do you program that 3rd party door keypad?

@@CambridgeSecurity-h6l I just followed the instructions that came with the keypad. I use these key pads in case the reader goes out. I can then give people a PIN code to use. When the reader is fixed I wipe that PIN code I gave out from the keypad. Hope this helps!
