@schaboszczak997 things shift like that, Georgia and Pennsylvania will over time shift out of swing statehood (Pennsylvania to the right, Georgia to the left) and so obviously new states will fill in for that

@@Dawnthensunset3839 She won both by about 6%, so I wouldn't say "super" close (VA voted to the left of 2016 in a more favorable year for republicans, which shows the state is still trending to the left presidentially), but definitely an embarrassing margin in NJ for her, even Hillary won it by 14% in 2016

@@Unovey well I looked at them being the states where Dems tend to win by a big margin almost every time. VA has always been close even though the state has been trending left as you said, there's also Minnesota, but then NJ IL CO RI or NM had margins of below 10 or something this time. Even in states with above-10 margins like NY and WA, Harris underperformed all other Dems before and Trump did better. NJ especially was more competitive on the night than TX, which Dems expected to be a swing state. This election is R+2 or 3 everywhere. It's pretty surreal

@@Dawnthensunset3839nj def a state to watch in the next few years trump managed to flip several counties which were typically democrat strongholds with Passaic, Cumberland and Gloucester. Since 2012 the margin in presidential went from 18 to 5 this year. On top of that the recent governor race was also very very close and is projected to be a toss up next year as well.

Not really, a red state is when a state continuously vote for red in elections, Arizona was blue in 2020. I think North Carolina is more of a red state than any other swing states in this cycle

Only 3 genuinely Blue States, D.C. Massachussets and Vermont, a couple of others are mixed states and many of the others are only blue cities, probably often sanctuary cities surrounded by a sea of red.
