I usually don’t leave comments on videos but wanted to say this was a really informative and comprehensive review. Showing how the fuel door works I have never seen on any videos and at least how this Volvo does it seems very thoughtful and is good to know. Also, I like how you give your thoughts on getting in and out of the vehicle. This is helpful for elderly or people with back/knee problems and I haven’t seen a review do this before. Keep up the good work!!

Great review, just about to get exactly the same car here in the UK. Just a small point, below the centre armrest is actually a trash bin that pulls out.

Thanks! Appreciate you pointing that out.. such a random little feature but kind of useful at the same time

Im one of the first in my County (Cornwall, UK) to take order of the 2025 B4 Black Edition Plus Mild Hybrid.. Dealership didn't even have a demo when I put my order in. Only test drove the Mid Trim B4. I saw one of the comments talking about road noise? Bollocks. May be part to my country road style driving over possible city and constant motorway driving, idk. 🤷 Here in the UK the XC40 gets kick Tailgate opening as standard and Park assist (also seen in another comment). However, you my good Sir are in Canada. Things vary! Really enjoyed your review. Keep it up steve. 👊👍🤙

Always interesting to hear the differences between North American and EU spec cars, I'll have to find my way to Europe to review some international models! I've always though the interior of Volvo cars has been really quiet regardless of the type of street I'm driving on as well. Is it the first time that you've owned a Volvo?

Same, always fascinated over what is here and the availability over the pond and elsewhere! Take a trip to Cornwall if you're ever in the UK. It's an absolutely stunning part of the British Isles, I'll give you a run I'm the B4 Black. 😜 Passed my test in 2011, took me a good 5 years to stop buying French cars off the batt, immediately fell in love with JLR after a L322 purchase (despite going backwards owning a 2001 P38 Westminster after) beautiful and iconic, but f**k me, I just couldn't keep up with the ECU repairs. Bought a dated 2002 XJR, again terrible judgement of purchase, not the best kept vehicle. This is the first time I've owned a Volvo & I feel like I'm cheating.. But it's great. Before the XJR I nearly bought a 2004 S80. Probably should have!! 😏😏 Update you on three years Steve! 😂

I'll make sure to add that stop to my list! I want to test out some BYD cars and getting into some RHD would be a crazy change. Haha, I've had a few people mention their older Land Rovers giving them problems.. it's weirdly good to know that it's just not a North American issue. If you ever shoot any content on the Volvo, send it my way! Cheers

Greetings Steve! Brand new subscriber here....found you due to recently buying a 2020 Ford Ranger XL and did a youtube search to find more info about it. Your in depth video and test driving were on point! Now I pretty much know everything about the truck that the dealership didn't cover. You seriously know your stuff!....and your presentation and style are excellent. Now I'm watching your other videos for fun and but also learning a lot! Thank you!! Really like this channel.😁👌

Thanks! Haha been a bit of a change in the way content is shot from that 2020 Ranger XL video. Appreciate all that feedback too, honestly always good to hear what people think.. good or bad. Cheers!

The system does have park assist. I have this car. It also has kick to open the back hatch, hands free
@CarsWithSteve2 ай бұрын
Actual Park Assist isn't available with newer Volvo vehicles that run off the Google OS... The way it's phrased in current marketing is just for the sensing systems. Thanks for pointing out the liftgate for people who were wondering, I skipped that one way to open it up in this video!

The pass-through from the trunk area is for skis or other long narrow objects, so that you don't have to compromise the number of passengers unnecessarily. It's not for reaching into the trunk area from the rear seats. Surprised a supposedly professional car reviewer does not know this - it's a feature that's been around for years on many brands, and is cheaper than manufacturing a 40-20-40 rear seat.

Could have left that snide remark out, it's a pretty douchy way to tell someone what a feature is. The only other car I've ever reviewed that had that feature was the Dodge Hornet, outside of that and the Volvos I've reviewed it's something I'd never seen

Tvoje video mi zlepšilo náladu...už som si myslel, že moja xc 40 MY 24 nedokáže prehrať mp3 z usb kľúča. O aplikácii audio wagon som vôbec netušil. Prosím ťa prečo neviem stiahnuť navigáciu Sygic do vozidla? Thanks
@CarsWithSteve26 күн бұрын
Som rád, že video pomohlo. Budete si môcť stiahnuť iba podporované aplikácie a nezdá sa, že by bola kompatibilná s obrazovkou médií Volvo

This is considered a hatchback? There’s no way because it’s the same size as the Mazda CX five and the BMW times one and those are SUVs

BBH.. lol. Let's say a cross hatch

Steve, I've always come away with the impression that Volvo's absolute commitment to safety has over-ridden the "fun to drive" qualities in their cars. Mind you, I've never driven any Volvo, so I can only report this as what I've heard. What were your impressions driving the XC40? Compare it to the Mercedes you recently drove, or something like a Lincoln Aviator or Nautilus, which one do you like best?
@CarsWithSteve5 ай бұрын
I always thought the same. It's the first Volvo I've been in for over 10 years. I was driving it pretty hard at times, did a bunch of 0-60 tests and was thoroughly impressed. I liked that it's lower to the ground than the GLS 580 so the handling is solid and with the 2.0L mild hybrid, it had a surprising amount of power. There were only a few things I wasn't crazy about.. don't like the hatch style, no Android Auto, fuel economy was a bit worse than stated numbers and having to use a 91+ octane was a minus. At this price point I'd spend the extra money to get into a 2024 Nautilus though. I really like the interior style better
@coolnout37652 ай бұрын
Don't ride this one and jump into the XC-60 or be prepared to buy an XC-60 because the XC-40 is road noisy, but quicker with less weight and the same B5 engine. Don't forget, it burns premium.
@CarsWithSteve2 ай бұрын
Is it that bit of a difference? I'm hoping to get into the XC-60 before the end of the year but I'll make sure to mention some differences between them
@mart0225Ай бұрын
I have the last gen XC60 and am considering the XC40 because of the smaller size. Have had the 40 and 60 as loaners and preferred the 40 for our needs. The 60 with 20” wheels was louder than expected.
