I just purchased a 2024 Mazda CX90 Turbo Premium in Machine Gray. I got the 21 inch rims blacked out and all the emblems. Also got the window tint. I pick it up Friday, can't wait!! ❤❤

I was very surprised how tight inside the mazda cx90 was. At the dealer the suv looked very big from the outside but inside is a totally different story. Atlas on the other hand is huge both in and out.

Agreed. I was a Mazda CX5 owner who was hoping for the CX90 but once you get inside it feels smaller. The third row is very cramped unlike the Atlas, 2nd row also more room in the Atlas and the seats fully tilts in case you have car seats for kids, I have two so that important for us. I ended up purchasing the new Atlas and I’m very happy so far.

Mazda is great at being a Mazda, but I think in this segment people don’t want a Mazda they want lots of space, which will make most buyers nix it. I like the VW actually but the touch controls are a deal breaker unfortunately for me. Not sure if others are in the same camp. I drove a Pilot and liked it, Highlander was a little small to me but they have the Grand Highlander now which presumably fixes that. GM unveiled the new Traverse so that might be good, although if I got that I would get it when it’s a couple years old because GM cars depreciate fast.

@@maicalvlad6765 I would agree with you 100% up until this year. I have /had owned 3 Mazdas with few problems. The CCN video does not and no one can predict reliability of the Cx-90 since it is completely new from the ground up engine, transmission, everything. What his video does show, based on Mazdas own instructions for repair, that any engine component that fails will be extremely expensive to replace. I own a CX-5 and Mazda 6 and any maintenance is super easy as I do all routine and minor part replacement maintenance. However, the CX-90 is not only super complex in its operation but most normal parts that are known to fail during long term ownership require the entire engine to be removed just to access a $40 dollar part. Mazda in building the CX-90 is matching the German philosophy that performance is more important than any serviceability. If you already own a CX-90 don't bother watching since it will not make you happy about your purchase

90% of the buyers use these big suvs to get groceries and travel long distances on paved roads. My accord can handle most of the off roading these buyers do. Mazda is a much better option, and will hold up 10x better than the vw in the long run. The only other good option is probably the pilot. These tubro 4cyl dont have the same smoothness as a inline 6 or v6, on long drives it matters.ALSO the cx90, atlas, highlander both have 8 inches of ground clearance. Pilot has 8.3 inches
@tiberone5957
@tiberone5957 Жыл бұрын
@@fahmidnd2 I'd disagree. On long highway trips, the difference between a 4 or 6 cylinder engine will be negligible as you are going highway speeds with cruise control on for long distances. Unless the new pilots have changed, they are also kinda lemons. I had a 2017 pilot and I had to change the transmission fluid every 20k miles because of a TSB showing that Honda had a bad torque converter clutch that heated up the fluid too much. TLDR: Engine size doesn't matter much on long roadtrips with constant speeds, but a 4 cylinder will have better economy than a 6 cylinder. Modern day VWs are just as reliable as the Japanese brands, speaking with a 2019 Jetta with 150k trouble free miles.
@fahmidnd2
@fahmidnd2 Жыл бұрын
@@tiberone5957 from personal experience, yes it does. When you’re on flat roads maybe not so much, but in elevation it is no where near as smooth as a v6. Specially Toyotas torque monster turbo 4. The power band is not linear which is what you want in an suv. Even the new Lexus rx350 with the turbo 4 is not even comparable to the v6 in regards to smoothness both city and highway. Perfect for mid sized sedans and coupes. But not for heavy suvs. The hybrid turbo 4s aren’t to bad, after driving the 500h it was pretty smooth and power came on seamlessly which was nice. In regards to fuel economy the v6 highlander and the 4cyl highlander doesn’t make much difference. Modern day vw, it’s a hit or miss either really lucky or very unlucky. I don’t hold Japanese on a high horse either my 2018 accord blew at 160k.

This excellent bit of wisdom ALSO applies to making a buying decision based on magazine reviews. Driving each model yourself is key. We've been cross-shopping the 2024 Atlas R-Line with the top trim levels of the Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX (and non-hybrid), and Mazda CX-90. While the 2023 Atlas would have come in dead last, the refreshed-for-2024 VW is leading the pack, based on our test drives. Based on the reviews and videos, I expected the Kia/Hyundai sisters to walk away from the pack. But putting each (except the Mazda so far) through its paces on local roads and 80mph highway (Utah I-15) was eye-opening. Planning to drive the Mazda today and I expect the smaller 3rd row and cargo space will be a deal breaker. But I've been surprised several times by the difference between other's reviews and my own drives, so I won't pass judgement on the Mazda until I've experienced it firsthand.

Hi @@DavidZeckhausen1 how was the Mazda CX90 test drive? I'm keen to know where it ranks among the others based on your experience! I'm between the 2024 Atlas and the CX90 but both dealerships where I'm at still don't offer test drives!
@DavidZeckhausen1
@DavidZeckhausen1 8 ай бұрын
Hey, @@mazinobead! We looked at the CX90 the same day I wrote my original reply. We didn't bother to test drive, as it would have been a waste of the dealership's time and ours. It took about 15 seconds to decide the Mazda's interior didn't compare to any of the others. It's relatively cramped, especially in the 3rd row, and didn't fit our needs. After a second test drive of the Atlas, just to make sure our memory hadn't faded, after driving the others (except the Mazda) we made our decision. A fully loaded 2024 SEL R-Line had just arrived on the lot with the exact specs we wanted (Opal white exterior/Shetland beige interior, 2nd row captains chairs). Our local dealership didn't insist on adjusted market value, BS paint/interior protection plan, pinstriping or any of that other nonsense. They even matched the on-line purchase offer from Carvana for our 2022 VW Taos trade-in, which saved us a couple thousand more dollars in Utah sales tax. So far, we're very happy with the 2024 Atlas. It's incredibly quiet and comfortable on long trips and the auto-steer is more sophisticated than the one on the VW Taos. In other words, it doesn't try to lull us into a false sense of security, then drive off the highway at anything more than the most gentle of curves. It's not a match to the Autopilot on our Tesla, but it's pretty darn good. And we are now the designated drivers for lunch/dinner dates with friends, as the back seats are way more comfortable and the panoramic moonroof gives fantastic views of the towering scenery, of which Utah is famous for.

VW eliminated the VR6 engine and No power passenger seat on all trims is a bad idea since this must be a divorced bean counter saving which are both a BAD MOVE! VW needs to rethink the engine in the Atlas. A Turbo Straight Six in a 3.0 liter size looks to be a more confident fit for such a large family hauler. The Two Liter Turbo in the Atlas is OK with only one person in the vehicle might seems to have enough power. Load the Atlas with people and luggage and the Atlas will be struggling to go up hills. No body wants a vehicle that sounds like it is working really hard and struggling. The Mazda need a sleeker front clip more in line with the Acura MDX.

@@markcoopers1930 Then you don't understand that he was a Toyota Master Mechanic that worked at a Toyota dealership and spoiler alert worked mainly on Toyotas. This year he opened his own shop so he NOW works on everything. I ignore the comments on the shifter, body roll, body design, door closure sound as these are personal opinions and are left up to the individual buyer. But when he is telling you what it takes to repair/replace an engine component, that is straight out of the mechanics repair data base that provides information on what has to be removed to access that part and the time involved. And that comes directly from MAZDA. He provides INFORMATION and you can do with it what you want. The only people who seem to get upset with that information are the ones who already purchased one and for them, I would recommend the extended warranty or resale after 3 years.
