Wheel design is so critical. It has to work in concert with the car body design and avoid looking aftermarket. Would love to hear more about how this process is achieved

@@comfortablesofa correct you are the interviewer one mouth two ears use accordingly and cut out the bad language it never ever sounds goods and we all curse but cats are what it’s all about - as an aside the Golf R to me is far from radical in design
@GethinJames6 ай бұрын
Agreed - let them talk more. Don't do leading questions. Just a quick short question - then let them talk, then ask them to explain more, always ask once or twice for them to expand on a thought. Don't swear either.

@azizdrives.....this was a great interview, good questions, always good to understand design choices. That's a beautiful car. No suggestions really just keep doing it......I owned a 2022 MK8 Golf R (white) and love it. Will be interesting to see the improvements. 😎

Feedback>>>>I own a 2024 golf R 6 speed manual. It drives incredibly well and is stable at very high speeds. I have upgraded wheels to 18", brakes to 370mm 2-piece, calipers to 6 piston, tires to pilot sport 4s and springs to lower it. All Good. However HAVING ONLY TOUCH SCREEN CONTROLS IS DANGEROUS. How could you not think of safety vs looks?? You try to quickly go to recirculated air to avoid nasty diesel smell from a truck in front of you while driving 80mph. Having no buttons is very much NOT user friendly. I am a VW man since 1985. With buttons, you don't need to look. You can keep your eyes on the road. WITHOUT BUTTONS YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD. Someday there will be lawsuits from someone who dies. I can see the writing on the wall. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR RESPONSE. THANK YOU.

Well done. I have one constructive criticism. I think you need to ensure you don’t stand in front on the car and work on drawing more from the person you are interviewing. Basically in these instances the car and the guest are more important than you are. Having said that it’s a good first attempt and I’m sure you will improve over time.

Thank you very much for the message. I will try to adjust it over time.

now that the wheels are fixed, can they also design an engine cover that doesn't melt and look like ass, thank you.

the only thing he needs to fix is the hood gap in the front, all new vw's have that problem, it appears to be in the "popped up" position.

A strut is lighter more effective and more reliable and easier to replace and cheaper to produce so it's much much better and thank God the new ones don't have those hydrolics that go bad quickly and are expensive to replace

These designers should be talked to by marketing or product manager before going on camera. The first one struggled a bit.

destroyed the front end. The MK8R actually has a better front end design than this as the lines and curves flow better. This front grille has huge gaps and would make me worry about anything getting caught in there while driving.

The interior of this vehicle is a major let down, I have a Mk7.5 and wanted to get the new 8 but felt like it was a downgrade sitting inside the car itself. The plastic kick plate in the door and door panel make it feel cheap. The clitoris gear shift sucks and the material used on the seats just feels cheap and basic.

Nice video,car designer done his job,but wheels maybe good,not for this car
@krane156 ай бұрын
Too bad they didn't make a design that hides the rear wiper. Something the Koreans and Americans. The wheels are ugly, so back to the drawing board. Thing is, they have beautiful wheel designs already since we see them on the concepts. Finally, it needs Brembo brakes to be taken seriously. Carbon fractures?

Looks less bad than the ugliest of all generations - nr 8. The front end - really better, rear lights still too heavy and the little light squares of lights - terrible. Interior still sucks and touch capacitive buttons on steering wheel is of no excuse. Overall 5/10.
