What a beautiful ride. I Only use PAS 3 on windy days and up hill. I find PAS 2 totally adequate most of time, and I ride in the Arizona desert, on very rough dirt roads. To my dismay, though, I noticed that your" bars" last much much longer then mine. I wonder why. My first bar drops fairly quickly, and then it takes a while before the next one drops. I therefore pay more attention to the voltage, and not so much to the bars...

Interesting! What is your P5 setting set to? If you have the 2023 model (LG Cells) it should be at 16. If you have the 2024 model (Samsung Cells) it should be set to 6.

Went on a long ride this morning and not only my bars didn't drop at all, my voltage seems to drop much slower, which means that my display has been lying to me all along.. This is a game changer for me, and I thank you for that. I just wonder why it came like that from the factory, since I didn't change the P5 setting at all...

wired just updated their bike. they are adding a rear battery, added thermal gel to their controller (copying e-cells) and other improvements. the 2024 model is now the previous model. e-cells already had a rear battery option but i see now they are configuring their deal and says their form will update on monday. a comparison video of both versions should also include pedal strikes since i heard this might happen more often with the wired version but not clear on the e-cells triple crown version.

@@jamesreardon4898 Not free. Extra $500. BUT it will also include upgraded dual crown forks and four-piston Tektro brakes. The extra battery + the dual crown forks would usually be an extra $1200, but now they're going to do it for an extra $500. This will make it ~$100-200 more than the Wired Freedom (since E-Cells doesn't charge shipping or tax) but with much better suspension and headlight. However, the Freedom will still have the higher watt output with the new 45 amp controller.

Is that motor even rated at 45 amps?? There's a reason the original controllers are 40 amps. I'm pretty sure it's pushing it and will probably burn up something eventually. That's what happens when you throw out untested designs quickly to compete.

Good video! Glad to see this range test done. Really does give a good idea of range. I really think the only thing wired freedom needs to try to do is get a little bigger battery on their bikes. Other wise their bikes are pretty damn near perfect for all riding styles and locations and still have a good enough look to run under the radar opposed to a moped style look.

I wish I would have bought this bike. I didn’t see it because it wasn’t well advertised at the time. I bought an Aventon Aventure 2 and burned the hub motor up on my third bike ride climbing up a steep mountain on a paved road. I only had 67 miles on it. The Aventon Aventure 2 is definitely not made for climbing mountains for extended periods.

So... the war is on between Wired and E-Cells. After wired came up with their new (redesigned) model, E-cells came with a new model that is almost identical (but with better components and choices IMO) called the "Dual Star"... My money is on it, since E-Cells has been making dual battery bikes for a long time and have a lot of experience with them. It's just funny to see them go head to head like that. Good for us I guess.

The e cells bike is much less powerful and several mph slower than the new Wired bikes. Wired now has a much safer fork with a thru axle so I’m not sure what component is better on the e cells.

Have you had trouble with it shutting off after driving for about 1.5 hours, then after stopping for a few seconds, it comes on again for a min or so then it repeats again and again. Is the motor overheating? Thanks

I haven't had that issue exce0t when I run my battery all the way down when doing a range test. I found that the solid was to just remove the battery and put it back on, that turns the system off.

Another fun video. I do have to question your estimated range. When you hit 2 bars, 50%, you were at 18 miles. We all know the first half of a battery last longer than the second half. I said I hope you are in pulling into your driveway at 36 miles but you estimated you would go 45-50 miles at that point. You were fortunate to get 37 miles. No big deal, I hope you were close to home but please keep in mind for future long rides that the second half of a battery charge depletes faster than the first half, most of the time.

Yeah, I was using throttle a lot towards the beginning half of the video for hills and to pass people. I did less of that at the end. Also, don't forget the additional 2 miles I did before I reset the odometer. I actually was at 21 miles when i turned around and got a total of 39 miles when I got home. If I was coasting more on the downhill sections and didn't use throttle at all (set to full power, so it used 2,000 watts when I twisted it) I could have easily gone 40+ miles. Thanks for watching!!

@@leetjohnson you'd be CRAZY to not get the insurance. If it includes a base, it's only about $50. Having said that, everyone needs to know that you the buyer will not file a claim....it must be the shipper. For ANYthing you purchase, anywhere, especially for this dollar amount, RECORD the unboxing process. Then record an inspection of all the parts. You might not even notice something when you are recording, so you have it to go back to. Take your time. This tip will help you tremendously if you have damage.

I’m 6’5” 228 and I can go so far in assist 1 and 2 that my butt wears out before the battery. I have not done a full range test because of that. Assist 3 seems to be the noisiest so I USUALLY use 1 and 2. They are realistically fast enough.

Can you elaborate on the noise you're getting on PAS level 3? I'm getting a slight "rubbing" noise on PAS 2 and 4 but 3 in pretty bad and I'd hate to think it would be considered normal. The factory won't even comment about it before I get a video to them, which won't be exactly easy to do. I have seen one or two other people complain of this same issue. How would you describe it on your end? Wondering if Lee has experienced this as well?

Because I want to see the range, same general terrain and weather yet without any pedaling (not even ghost pedaling unless maybe in an area where you need to, like a light turning red or by the fuzz or you know. I have pedaled some 67,000 miles in my life (or it equivalent on ATB's or like an actual 10,500 miles on a 3 speed Columbia Sports 3 and such) and while the bike is ok I'm 49, and I'm a cyclocross/road tourer, I would like a pedal motorcycle (like a class 5 but legally class 2 lol) especially for hauling groceries and stuff and I like you am 6'4" and weight 229 but figure on having a trailer at total 300 lbs or upto 250lbs on a special rack I will build because I might be one of those people you pass by, on the side of the road, you being in Cali and living in my van, I dont want to always have to break up camp maybe lose my spot, to get some food, pallets or dumpster crap. But really because I want know what he Wired can do and can't. and Not that I should.*

I was pedaling a little bit to help. Check out my video "Worst Case Scenario" where I was mostly throttling and a little bit of ghost pedaling to active the motor. That one will give you the absolute minimum range, minus your trailer weight. I would say absolute worst case with no pedaling, probably 25 miles. The new one has dual batteries now for the same price, shipping starts next month!

I'm from New Jersey and ride in an urban environment, went I start my ride the battery is fully charged, but I find that I will loose a bar after a 5 or 10 minutes ride. I'm not sure why this is. I'm crushed to know that the new Wired Freedom now offers dual batteries at the same priced that I'd paid 7 month's ago😢.

Check your P5 setting....when you turn the bike on, press the up and down button simultaneously to enter the programming mode. It might be set to 16, but if it's the 2024 model (Samsung Battery Cells), it should be set to 6. Let me know if this helps! You should be able to go at least 15 miles at Pedal Assist 3 before you lose a battery bar....and at least 8 miles on pas 5 before it drops a bar.

The battery and the voltage does not matter on the screen you have to check your 4 green bars on your battery I have a 2024 model

@user-ht3hm9ng8s I have another ebike and it has dual batteries as well. You can run it with 1 or 2 batteries....the voltage /power/speed is the same, the only difference is extended capacity/range. If the batteries were connected in series, their amperage would be added together, but the capacity would remain the same. If you look up how battery solar systems work, you'll find this same information (series vs parallel). Hope this helps!

I would think C5 is the closest to a "delay" setting. I know that 10 let's all the power out at once, and 1,2, and 3 slowly ramp up the power. Factory setting for this is at 4.

So really #5 is 28, #3 is 38, and #1 is 68. I think you would not go wrong with that in mind…..until you have more total miles on the battery. You could do these videos again after you have 500 miles on it. I’m at 225 miles now, after 7 weeks.

My 2024 Freedom was ordered in APR & was due to ship at end May, then postponed for the bonuses till end June. When it showed up the UPS man asked me to help get off truck its so heavy. The top of the box was ripped off from middle to 1 end with many holes along sides. It looked like a bear attacked it. When I opened it up I immediately saw many scratches in paint. I was bout to put together when I noticed no tool for handlebars or manual to put this together. So I went on their chat help & in the end it came missing manuals, tool,2nd battery charger, touch up paint, headlight, & PEDALS... so they send me the accessory box which took 4 days (mind you I took my vaca from work for the day of the delivery) & its missing the touch up paint. From this point on the Wired customer service chat was unhelpful & rude. I asked them how the batteries work is it frame batt till drained then rear kicks in? & they said it was a 'blendid' function that draws off both... So I told them that i purposely drained my batt to 60% on display & when went to charge both only the rear was at 60% while frame batt was 100%, so its not blending.... I like to pedal so I turn the motor options off (set to 0) & quickly found out that gears 1-6 make the chain skip on every rotation... They told me to take it to a bike shop for a derailer adjustment or watch a youtube vid on how do it myself...2400.00+shipping & this is the product I got & customer service to go with it FUCK WIRED

Correct. When fully charged it is at 67 volts. Fully dead battery is around 50v, depending on how much power you are using before it dies (pas 1, pas3, pas 5).

Wired’s bikes now peak at 3200 watts, 1000 watts more than e cells bike. I have tried the new prototype and it is much more powerful than the previous version. The new Wired bikes will easily outperform the e cell clone in acceleration, hill climbing, and top speed. E cells is not collecting sales tax either because they have had only minuscule total sales or they are crooks who don’t pay tax. Either is bad.
