Thanks for the comprehensive review. Really interesting to get a professional and a personal perspective. I'm 400 miles in to my first Tracer 7 GT and love it. Feel more connected to the bike and it just seems to do everything so well. I haven't missed the power of my old bike, and really appreciate the much lighter weight of the Tracer.

A big thanks for the effort you put into this, offering real critique and going deep into the details. I have been waiting for this for some time and the fact that you didn't rush in getting the clip out makes me trust it. Some final questions from me. 1-What engine runs more cool, less hot the legs? 2-Do you consider the lack of traction control and slipper clutch a deal breaker?
@SergeyVikultsev3 ай бұрын
1 - Both engines are good in terms of the heat they produce. With Tiger, you have more warm air on your feet, but it is not even close to what Tiger 900 produces. I wouldn't be worried about the heat in either case (Yamaha or Triumph) for these two bikes. 2 - Both of these features give you extra comfort riding the bike. When you ride it for some time and get used to it, you don't really think about it. But then you move to the analogue bike (like Tracer 7), and you notice the difference. I think it is just convenient features that really work. But I started to ride almost 20 years ago. For a long time, none of my bikes had TC or any electronics. I am comfortable with riding "simple" bikes. Would it be a dealbreaker for me? Not at all for this class of bikes. But probably yes if I buy something more expensive (900-1000cc motorcycle). This is only because you expect to have those things included when you spend more money.

@@SergeyVikultsev At the same price point as the tracer7 there seems be the Suzuki gsx 8r now, which is packed with tech, and which contrary to the looks, people say it has a sport tourer position. Any thoughts about it?

Great detailed comparison! Tracer 7 isn't an option in the States, unfortunately. I have a Tiger 660 currently (have owned many bikes over the years). 17k miles since new and no issues. Well, one I guess - it does consume oil. Not a huge amount, but enough to need a top-up every 1k miles or so. Sounds like there may be quite a bit of variation between copies? Mine has no rattles/weird noises. Fortunately, as that would drive me crazy. Most importantly, love that triple engine and chassis in the mountains!
@SergeyVikultsev3 ай бұрын
Maybe they solved those rattles with newer iterations. It is a great bike, and both of them are great. I like this category of motorcycles as people choose them when they start riding bigger bikes and when they downsize after large motorcycles. It is not easy to make a bike that suits both of these categories of riders. But they are doing a great job. Yamaha does not supply Tracer 7 to the US, and I guess it would be too simple of a bike to meet US market standards. At the same time, you guys have amazing roads to ride with this bike. Thanks for sharing info about oil consumption. Will definitely look closer. I change it every 5000km typically.

Great summary! How about CB500X / NX500?
@SergeyVikultsev2 ай бұрын
Thanks! What do you want to know about Honda?
@anton9037Ай бұрын
@@SergeyVikultsev Sorry I should have been more explicit. :)) Basically I'm deciding between the NX500 and the Tracer 7 (maybe the GT version or just the base one). I haven't tried either, and of course the NX500 is just less powerful, but I wonder if there are any important things to consider. The Tracer 7 is about $3k more expensive than the NX500, but I'm not sure the extra power is worth it. In fact, it was your videos that convinced me for Tracer 7.
@VikultsevАй бұрын
@@anton9037 I have no experience with riding exactly NX500, but I was studying that bike and had plenty of Hondas in my hands. That's how I feel. Tracer 7 is a pleasure travel bike, more power, more character, better looks and components. But this is purely road focused motorcycle. Forget about bad roads. But have a lot of fun on paved roads and in traffic. NX500 is allrounder. Nothing exiting, not much of performance and fun, very simple finishing, but it will bring you anywhere. The question is, what you are looking for?
@anton9037Ай бұрын
@@Vikultsev I'm mainly looking for paved roads with some off-roading if at all. Maybe travelling between cities, visiting national parks in the EU (I'm from Finland), stuff like that. Off-roading is a nice bonus but I'm not quite sure how much of it I'll actually do. I like that Tracer 7 gives more "ready to go package", such as for example charging sockets on the panel out of the box. With CB500X they should be installed separately, and I guess it's the same for NX500. I have some experience with bike maintenance, but it's always nice to have more things our of the box. We have a fair in February, I'll try to check both in real life.

I own a 2020 Tracer 700 with about 27k km on the clocks (10k by me in the last year). I agree with what you’re saying about it, it’s just a really really good bike. Also, for those who care the Yamaha is made in France where as the Triumph is made in Thailand (and splattered with UK flags). Was choosing between the two when I bought the bike a year ago but the warranty, dealer network and made in the EU made the choice for me. Biggest drawback so far? I’m a bit tall at 195cm and the max load is a bit low when loaded up with a passenger.
@SergeyVikultsev3 ай бұрын
I would not be worried about where these bikes are made. First of all, Tracer 7/700 was developed in Europe for the EU market. These bikes are not available everywhere in the world, even in Japan. Secondly, the engine is still produced in Japan, as well as some other parts. In France, they only assemble the bikes and may supply some minor elements from EU factories. Yamaha still manages quality control. Also, the manufacturers these days produce their vehicles in a different countries. Typically, only top-of-the-line models (ex., Tracer 9, Africa Twin, GS1300, etc.) made are in home country. Maybe only Ducati still produce bikes in Italy. Other brands cut production costs by moving factories somewhere or outsourcing to other companies. Even premium brands such as Triumph or BMW do that. So, again, we live in a different world, and this is just a part of reality. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter where it is made, as long as it is good quality and reliable.
@903lew3 ай бұрын
@@SergeyVikultsev Yes, but it does illustrate where some of the money goes, French labour is more expensive than Thai labour. Now, I like Thailand (I am Thai) but all of the “British” branding puts me off when the bike isn’t made there. Ducati also have a factory in Rayong, mainly making Scramblers and the such. Ducati is owned by VAG so they love their outsourcing. If you want a made in Japan bike Suzuki are almost 100% and if you want made in Italy I’d go MV or Guzzi. Me, I don’t care much. Just don’t slather the bike with the flag if it’s not made there.
