Maybe the GT+ has a fuel used display somewhere in the settings 🤔 Great little trip btw 😊

I'm glad to hear you say the handling is a bit twitchy - I've never known if it was just me! I've had my 2021 T9 GT from new, and is only the second bike I've owned since passing my full license - the first was a Ninja 650 for about 6 months. It gets worse if the geometry changes from carrying more weight or empty vs full tank too. It's making me consider trading it for something like the street triple, even if it means giving up the two-up/touring aspect! Generally a great bike, but just more effort (nervous) than I want day to day.

Great vid , as always, Chopsie. BUT, shock horror, I don’t fully agree with you . I think the triple CP3 motor is perfect and has more character than even the MT10 cross plane 4. I own a GT+ and have owned an MT10 which I toured Europe on. I much prefer the character of the triple and 117 bhp with the way the ECU always delivers more throttle than you ask for means it’s never lacking in power. And whilst you can’t adjust the A-1 AND A-2 suspension settings, you can use CUSTOM mode to , for instance , have full power but with A-2 ‘comfort’.Having tested the Suzuki 1000 GX, I much prefer the GT+. And the GX isn’t homologated to take a top box, which severely limits two up touring. Forgot to add-I’m surprised you found it a bit raw and saying the quickshifter was clunky-for me it’s the best quickshifter I’ve ever had . And I’ve had a few ! It’s buttery smooth and just snicks into gear. Your bike must be a dud unless it’s your size 12 clodhoppers 😜

Good ride out and real world review 👍The engine is quite raw and I preferred my Street Triple engine. Interesting comment about the suspension. On my Tracer 9GT there seems to be little difference between the two suspension settings. The fuel gauge and the lack of a range to empty is frustrating but I normally fill up at 180-190 miles just to be on the safe side. One thing I have found is that according to my Satnav GPS the speedo is 6-7 mph optimistic at 70mph. Still a good all round bike though.

Having had the gen two GT and being pleased with it on the whole (great engine, suspension not the best) I was going to get this, the big TFT appeals over the split screen of the standard 9GT but.. I will hardly use the radar cruise and at £15K I went and bought a Ducati Supersport 950S instead. I’ve no doubt I would have loved this but for virtually the same money the Ducati just rings my bell and suits my needs a bit more, actually, Lambchop’s excellent review on the Supersport helped seal my decision.

Interesting video. I have owned my 19 Tracer since new.. Brilliant bike.. Also had the first edition in 2015.. Great 2 up etc. The Tracer 9+ looks great but on the expensive side.. They have not improved the fuel gauge, both mine have the same issue.. Shows full for ages then drops to half a tank.. I don't like the garmin only sat nav either.. I do think they should be a heated seat option. The new Suzuki on the other hand is not wonderful either in my view.. (I normally love Suzuki).. The pillion seat is not as big, or comfy as the Tracer, and the pillion sits above the rider.. Suzuki do no recommend a top box.. Which is pretty essential for a tourer.. Plus centre stand, heated grips and panniers are extra.. Which come on the Tracer 9GT + as standard.. So your comparison review will be interesting, especially if you price them up in comparison in specification..

My last bike was a 21 Tracer 9 GT. Great bike. Tried every sports tourer and none I would have swapped for my Tracer. Would I pay the extra for the GT+, no I wouldn't and yes I did test ride it. Yes the clocks and switch gear are not the best but you can easily live with them. The GT+ 3rd gen quick shifter is pointless, the screen was no better than my GTs. So for 2 grand more all I was getting was adaptive cruise instead of the GTs standard cruise and better clocks / switch gear. So not worth the extra to me anyway, buy the GT I say. Great bike. I did 2 tours to the Alps etc and it was great. I have just traded it in for an 890 SMT which feels very similar but definitely more nimble.

Yamaha has decided to make the Tracer 9, its touring bike , because they don’t sell anymore, at least for Europe, the 1300 FJR, which was Yamaha’s proper Touring bike on the line up and now they lost that. They’re trying to replace it with this Tracer 9 GT+. It’s not the same segment, and not the same type of costumer. Yamaha is lacking that bike in line. And I’m not saying that this is not competent but it lacks the refinement and comfort of a proper Tourer (a little like the BMW S 1000 XR, a sport tourer, very sporty but not so tourer. It can be done, but honestly, no radars and the pillion minimalistic passenger seat, shown clearly what the bike is meant), that pretentiously it wants to be, but it’s not. Thanks for the video 👌🏻

@@SX1000ninjayeah I agree. Can’t understand these decisions. They could also do a MT-10 sport tourer, like a crossover bike. It’s called a chain link ferry. Google Maps shows me there is a big blue sign just before the booth pointing motorbikes into the left lane with the horses and bicycles. What a bizarre set up! The Tracer looks like a great bike but I don’t feel like it’s a £15K bike and I’m not sure all the electronics belong on this segment of bike. It definitely comes across as a fun, sporty, slightly raw sports tourer rather than a bike you can rag, but also bimble on. It’s odd that Yamaha have betted their house on a range of bikes that top out at 890cc when that’s midrange for most other brands. Maybe a Tracer 10 with a detuned IL4 with bags of torque would be a better range topper, a stronger competitor for the GX and the XR, and certainly something I’d feel more worthy of the £15K+ price tag.

Great review! Have you every had a bike with an accurate fuel gauge? It seems like every bike I had with one - the float took at least 50 miles before it started dropping and than it drops at an exponential rate.
@LambChopRides9 ай бұрын
Yeah they are allways a bit rubbish. But 4 blocks gives a very rough idea to how much fuel you have, fine on other bikes but a touring machine would be nice to have a bit more accuracy 👍
@RoeyHaviv9 ай бұрын
@@LambChopRides yes, I have 7 blocks on the VFR1200F, the first 3 take about 100 miles to drop, the last four are about 40 miles if I’m careful.

I paid £7495 for my new Tracer 900 in 2018,within 5yrs the price has exactly doubled, albeit, a lot more tech...which isn't what, my generation, their core buyer want!

Yamaha never has had a great fuel gauge but then again I'm old enough to remember when the engine started to die, you knew it was time to switch to reserve and go look for gas. Now we are judging the effectiveness of adaptive cruise control on motorcycles. Here I am thinking that my 2018 Indian chieftain is pretty "posh" as you Brits would describe it.

Another great review Chopsy. I'm considering one of these or an NT1100. I have other bikes for my sporty fix. I'm a massive Honda fan but the semi active suspension is catching my eye, then its just whether to go for the standard or the GT+. I can live with the funky dual screen as id end up using my phone for the sat nav anyway. Is the adaptive cruise really that much of a game changer in your opinion?
@LambChopRides9 ай бұрын
Yeah the Adaptive Cruise is fantastic I do love it. But standard Cruise does do the job just fine 👍

I'm going on 2 years with my NT1100 and it really fits the balanced requirements for a true Sport/Tourer. Plus the DCT is an invaluable bonus. Android Auto is a daily (mandatory use) 😊 function now too. Its really hard to fault the NT1100 as its so competent in every way. That's my vote!😂
@Stratocasterhead519 ай бұрын
The NT1100 is not a sports tourer. It really isn't. Pegs scrape early, suspension is too soft for aggressive riding and even if the weight is quite well hidden, you feel it under acceleration braking, and a tendancy to run wide in the corners. Tracer is better sporty option than the NT. However, as a mile munching machine it really is excellent. Protection is far better than the tracer can offer, it gets more range on the motorway. The DCT is great for town use, and if you want to have a passenger the NT is superior.
@AuldhannRua9 ай бұрын
I have a Blackbird and a Fireblade, so I'm fairly sure I'll end up on the NT. It's the comfortable mile muncher to add to the stable. If I didn't have the other bikes, I'd probably buy a Ninja 1000SX. Thanks for the feed back
@sunrisejak27099 ай бұрын
@@Stratocasterhead51Yes, I pretty much agree. I replaced the rear shock with a quality aftermarket unit and different springs in the front forks. Those modifications made for mice improvements. Is it a sports/tourer? Yes but that's with a small "s" and capital "T". 😁 But I'm really impressed with its overall capabilities.

That "raw" engine would simply be passed off as character if it was a Ducati. Absolute peach of an engine,it kicks inline fours with similar horsepower square in the nuts,we can't have it both ways 🤷

Swanage Chopsy, Swanage!!! Not Swanmore 🤣🤣🤣🤣 (I live in Swanage). Sandbanks is indeed one of the most (if not the most) expensive places on the planet to buy property! If you turn left when you were looking up at the castle you can park much closer to the castle entrance and there's a brilliant bakery next to the pub 😁
