Mitchell Hooper must've been created in a lab. Ever since this guy burst onto the scene I've been like "HOW?" He's not the biggest or heaviest like Shaw or Thor...he doesn't look like he was carved from stone like Mariusz...and yet he's becoming as successful, if not more than all of them VERY quickly. It's amazing that no one is really hyping this guy up for his insane achievements in the past few years (so much so that he had to make this video himself LOL). 8/9 wins and a 2nd at WSM is ABSOLUTELY INSANE. It's almost like everyone is just watching this guy win comp after comp in disbelief like "is this guy real?" and the shock of his dominant success hasn't lifted yet. One day Hoop, you'll start getting the recognition you deserve for what you are doing right now. Keep it up champ...

Definitely of the most successful years for any given strongman. I think your confidence kicked in when you broke the axle record, you realized you were just as strong as you hoped. Hopefully you have an even better 2025, break (jointly maybe) the 505 record and make strongman more known to everyone else

@antoniocenteno1483
@antoniocenteno1483 Ай бұрын
Bruh, that is hardly gonna happen cause strongman barely uses squats. WSM might bring squat for reps but the record gonna according to the weight since they've used 300Kg, 310, 325 and so on and on; the Arnold's have used the T-bar once and it was cause nobody could touch Thor on the elephant bar and since he was playing box with Eddie they tried to shake thing up. The event, though cool, toon 3 freaking hours to finish, so is highly unlikely they do it again and if they do then Mitch runs into the Mountain and here is the thing, Mitch's heaviest squat, raw, is under 400KG so far, he can go further but is unlikely he has 1k pound squat even in a singly ply suit, Wich is what he would use to beat the current record at 966 pounds, and here is the thing... Bjornsson, thinking he'd be at the Arnold's, has hit that number... Rae, and with ease, so chances for Hooper to beat a squat record actually involves Thor not been present and unlikely circumstances of placing the squat in any strongman event, and on top that it would need to be productive for Mitch

It's definitely one of the greatest years of all time. The only thing that would have put it over the top is if you had a couple of consistent rivals who always came in at their best. And I know you've said the same thing. I think the biggest thing I appreciate about you is that despite competing a lot, you always go to win. You never show up out of shape or just to make an appearance. You are a true professional.

The title of "strongest in history" is really hard to judge... food was different, equipment was different, scientific knowledge was different, motivation was different... hard to say how any of the top strongmen of each era would have fared in a different era. But you're definitely strongest of the 2020's so far. Strongest of all time I'd say Zydrunas, due to the length of his career and quantity of performances he racked up.

Hang on, is it even in doubt that this is the most dominant year ever in Strongman? If you award 10 points for first and drop it down to 1 point for 10th, Mitch got 89/90 points. It was pure domination with winning margins so huge that many final events weren't necessary. If we step back from the results, to compete in a brutal sport so frequently, train for a world record as well and be a great ambassador is unbelievable in itself. What a year, what a man.

I like to honor everyone's effort in the shows because I'm sure they train hard and long like you do but with lower results. @antoniocenteno1483
@antoniocenteno1483 Ай бұрын
@@Adam-bw6djCompetition today is lighter compared to the days of Brian, Zydrunss, Hall, Tho, Martins and Mateusz though. Is not just about having a great year, is consistency through the years, Wich Mitch can achieve, but guys calling him already the goat is crazy. There are 6 Arnold's between him and Big Z, 3 Wsm and overall 9 "Big titles" between him and Zydrunas, baring in mind Mitch came in a time when we have 4 big comps a year in comparison to only 2 and sometimes 3 like big Z. Is not even close yet. Again, that's not to say Mitch ain't great, but we have to take everything in consideration not just a good run
@Adam-bw6dj
@Adam-bw6dj Ай бұрын
@antoniocenteno1483 Is it lighter? SMOE this year was without a doubt heavier than the majority of competitions that Thor, Hall, Martins and Mateusz had to do. I won't say the same for Z and Brian because they did both compete at Fortissimus. I do think the competition itself isn't as good as it was in the past at the absolute top. Outside of Mitch, Thor and Tom, basically every other guy is hit and miss, hell you could even include Tom in that. But I don't actually believe the competitions are lighter, Mitch could definitely still win the big competitions even through the 2010's, I don't think he'd dominate like this but he's as good as all the top guys in those era's. I don't even really care for the guy but it's just undeniable imo. Yeah, comes down to personal opinion, some guys need to see lots of longevity and the highest amount of titles before they make the comparison and that's fair aswell.

Congrats on an amazing year! Next year, I'd say of course definitely Arnold, WSM, SMOE & Rogue, other than those as many Giants Lives as you feel up for and that won't negatively affect the "Big 4". Also depends if you and Thor can get a deadlift comp together. If Thor can't come to a resolution with the folks at Giants then maybe that could happen at the Arnold, if not in the Strongman maybe at the Rogue Record Breakers Stage there, or even at SMOE, though Brian likes raw deadlifts better, but for this, anyone would be crazy not to want it at their show. Hope you have an awesome off season and Christmas.

I hope that you take no offence to this, but while I do believe you have had by far the greatest single year of all time and you have cemented yourself as one of the all time greats with the stats you've mentioned, I do believe that the accomplishments of Brian, Big Z, Mariusz and Thor still makes them ahead of you (slightly in Thor's case), and I do believe that with the numbers Thor put out in 2018 it made him the strongest individual to have peaked ever as a complete strongman. And I am saying this with all the love and care I can as a fan to you, because I do believe 100% that you may reach those highs, and soon. And I want to see it. I'm just trying to be objective. Longevity is a big factor in Strongman because of the likes of Z and Shaw, but the fact that you can already be on a top 10 list after 3 years just shows where you can be in 5 more. We are all cheering on you! GO MOOSE

@@antoniocenteno1483 But that is already comparing eras, and all that comes with. Would be real, if Z wasn´t "working" as a strongman for "aeons". He was competing at a good level when Thor was learning "how to Basketball", and Z was not up there with Thor just the last 4-ish yrs of Thor´s time, when Z just couldn´t keep it up, but was still the best presser overall, and elite otherwise. When Thor started juicing, Z won the WSM in his second career stint after already being the strongest in the world for a number of yrs, doing competitions every month. If you count the patellar tendons snappage, 3rd stint, if you count natural PL turned slightly sauced, turned SM, then 4th. It helps, aswell as counts to mileage overall. As strong as he was, he went to try and win WSM, the guys weren´t to the level of strength of Kaz. Pudz and co. reinvigorated the scene with strength builds like that through their career. When Z got a good bit stronger, his "career ended" with the double patellar snap. He started again with more vigour, and started to be looked at as a guy to win WSM for real now, then the WSM/IFSA split happened. 2009, when Thor was morphing from a fat lifting BasketBaller to SM, Z was already the second best of all time strongman, behind Mariusz, just without the WSM wins. He was THAT Good and accomplished already-objectively- THAT good, no WSM needed. He had a superb shot at Marius even then, when WSM was not quite as heavy, but he was at IFSA. If Mariusz could beat Z in WSM 8/10 times, Z would beat him in other tests of strength that took strength endurance, max strength. He was That Good. When WSM became heavier in 2009, Mariusz, at his heaviest and all time strongest, was 3rd behind Brian and Zydrunas. Z, in 2009, was at his last legs as far as "young-ish" Z, and Shaw just became the man we know, hence the countback win in WSM for Z. Z has been lifting the same, from today´s view, respectable weights, for some 6 yrs(that is already majority of a career today), and yrs before that he was still placing, in a much less seriously taken, and less juiced competition, already lifting weights that are just below pro comps today for some other 5 yrs, a few more yrs, if you count the even lighter comps of the end of 90s and early 2000s. Overall he was competing somewhat for 14ish yrs before he won a WSM, and was the strongest strongman in the world, and the best at heavy shows no matter the events, for almost 6 yrs then. Later in his career, he was chiller than before, and worked smarter through the first half of 2010s, but some niggles have started to become too much. Shaw is not in Z´s generation, Shaw is an inbetween with Pudz/Z, and Thor/Ed generation. For the US, Shaw/ Poundstone generation, the end of Pudz time, beginning of Z staying on top, battling Shaw era. If a teen Z had a smart way of training long time, things would be interesting. It is pretty off the mark, when guys consider Z uncompetitive, because he just had overhead, or for his "just" 440kg peaked mid/end of comp deadlift. Obviously, today, the guy could go over 470 once or twice a year for yrs on a stiff bar, like the WSM "dumbell bar", if he was in good shape in the era of today, and had the vision of doing things as they are done now. Z was just the strongest overall, bar Grip, from the end of 2003 to some 2014-2015. Ed was even stronger build wise, heavier, had more torque, but was not as explosive. Both had great cardio for the mass. Awesome cardio. Ed spent little time at his weight, while Z was the 165ish-180kg Z since 2004 until the end the end of his Open Strongman career beyond 2015. He still smashed Masters strongman last year with superb showings. When you look at high level competition, Z has times the longevity of the others, and his comparably lower peak strength, was really "just" deadlift, and peaked deep inside his career years. He was already way older than the age of the best of Ed or Thor. Age wise, Imagine if Ed came back sometime last year, and wanted to win 2 or 3 WSM more. Z was smashing strongman for 5 yrs, and after that, he stood at the very top for more than twice the time as Ed or Thor had comparable metrics, to Zs best. He was barely ever worse than for 3rd between the eras, hypothetically. All that after racking up more frequent than monthly comps in season, which sure, was more training than not, but also doing IFSA, nationals, Europe´s(=) WSM qualifiers, Arnold´s, two Fortissimus comps, and yrs worth of Strongman Champions League= analogue to IFSA, basically, being the strongest strongman of all time(an ever improving, career long staple of his, until Ed and Thor), eventually improving his SM status as definitely the best of all time, after getting 4 WSM wins after beyond the halflife point of his career. A slightly aging strongman just pushed it a bit more, got even stronger, and still kept winning. That is "about" how good Z was.

Video idea: how would your career looked if you where competing at the same time as prime Brain Z and younger Thor early 2000s era. Would you have been able to take any WSM titles from the 2 goats

In terms of competing I think the 4 “grand slams” SMOE, WSM, Arnold Classic and Rogue Invitational should be your main focus and maybe use some of the smaller shows as a warm up to make sure you’re ready to go. You don’t have anything to prove in my opinion you’re the best strongman who has ever lived. Why hurt your body competing at every show and spend more time with family.

I think mitch goes for all 9 again, the majors and the giants live, maybe drops a couple of those for a random comp for 505 against Thor if that comes through

Hopefully in 2025 Thor gets his pressing back and Tom gets his head in the right space and Mateusz can stay healthy. If all three of them show up in top form you'll have some serious competition and the sport will be really dynamic again.

Thanks for saying you gave 100% instead of 125% or 150%, etc. which so many use to point out they actually, or believe, they gave 100% that day.

Personally i would like to see you do less big shows. Not because i think its boring now that youre winning etc. but because id like to see you get proper preps in and longer rest times and i think we would see a completely different animal than we did even this year. Imagine you did four big shows next year? Imagine the rest and prep times and how strong you would come in to them?? Or do you believe that competing so much is also basically training too?

Not the best year ever, but it was great. The Giants shows weren’t very competitive and Thor is never going to those or WSM again. The SMOE, Arnold’s and Rogue were the big ones and you got them, just missed the WSM. There is a large gap between you and the competition when Thor is not involved. His current press issues will keep you on top. Until someone new comes along we will see more of the same. You’re taken this more seriously than everyone else out there right now. They will need to up their game or they will continue to get blown out.

The Giants shows are competitive, Mitch and Tom are just insanely good. That 470 raw deadlift from Trey makes me think we're gonna need to watch him (not to mention 2 times smoe winner)

I thought you equaled another record (deadlift reps at Giants?) and held another also (wrecking ball)?
