hi, i know i'm a little late but i wanted to ask if the WvW meta is still mostly the same? kinda insane that they took out boon stripping. that being said, can anyone link builds for the boon chrono and the dps holosmith builds please. thank you!

Renegade has made it back into the meta with steps and boons. Maybe condi meta soon tm maybe not. But it’s pretty much the same.

Im not too experienced in wvw, level 409, but i like reaper staff/GS - nice aoe wells against other zergs, nice cc, pulls, cleave and burst dps and i can tag like crazy. Even with the same build i can do decent in roaming and take on wb, soulbeasts, mesmers, thiefs etc quite well. So i would place it in A tier at least

reaper is perhaps the strongest class for utility in zvz, if you are able to snipe, gs5 will just decimate defenders on walls and you can pull tanks and main healers from other zvzs if you're good enough. GS5 will regularly circumvent most rules of the game, like going through walls or even going beyond 1200 units. Being able to pull individual players outside of a boon bubble is the most powerful thing you can do, provided you know which players are the capstones of the group

I’ve played reaper for months and tested many diff variations with different armor stats and reaper is fairly mid in wvw outside of picking off some people here n there but in pve or even pvp reaper is fire. I feel like reaper does not do well with all the barriers and conditions going around

What spec would you suggest for a PvE veteran who just want to pug for occasional gift of battle and still want to be a little bit useful and fit into the meta without having to try too hard ?

If you join squads Berserker warrior big dps, pretty easy rotation to play, survives well and you can swap in some different traits if needed for more survivability. If you want to clown about or roam I would say willbender is the most fun and pretty easy to play. And if you do want to join a squad on the map you can switch to firebrand. Both great options, honestly warrior is great for roaming too just not amazing 1 vS X

Is there any decent dps for a pug group that can carry at all? Really appreciate the info. It is hard to find up to date meta stuff as a new player. Tier list are one thing, but I really appreciate you breaking it down more.

Dps holosmith and berserker warrior are the best damage and spike classes/specs atm. Berserker warrior is easier to play in my opinion, holo has better overall dps and spike but harder to play. Try both and see what you think! If you need more help let me know.

@Psikick4 ahhh I see sorry yeah hmm 🤔 if you are in a pug squad and it’s unorganised I’d say realistically your doomed xd and I’d probably suggest just clowning around coz you tag will get 1 pushed by an organised group. If you fancy sticking with the tag and trying to assist I’d suggest guardian honestly if this is the case. You can play cele firebrand for support and dps but lack of mobility means you can’t escape and will go down with the ship. But dying in the game doesn’t matter it’s a very casual game and doesn’t punish you that much for dying. It’s not like you lose gear like Albion online or tarkov. Power willbender is probably my favourite spec atm if you clown around just playing on your own. Guard has a lot of insane self sustain and you can play it solo with the right picks. I’d have to know more details of how the fights are whose party you are in, how the enemy are playing, where you are fighting and the commanders leading style before I could recommend a specific build. But just adapt and think what you need and what will give you and/or your team max value. Warrior may also be a good pick if you need more sustain you could swap in some different trait and utilities on dps spellbreaker for more sustain. Maybe possible to carry even!

Due to chronomancer buff and the meta in which we now play, 🇨🇳 stacked, cele fb pops off in damage while still giving boons, cleanse and stun break. If your party has a heal vindi or support Druid and a boon chrono you should be Gucci to play cele. If your party struggles then back to minstrel unless they are just dying by making mistakes then even minstrel fb won’t help them.

What does padding mean?

Padding can mean some different things, one situation can be perceived as padding, when you spam dps skills to top the dps meter without co-ordination with the commander spike calls, i,e not lining up your damage with other dps classes. Padding could also mean you have good overall damage but you fail to contribute any meaningful dps i.e the inability to create enemy downstates (downs contribution). Simply put it just doesn't have the burst or spike dps that other S-Tier DPS has i.e maybe it does 20-30k dps spike, but another class has 60-80k dps spike and better overall damage. Hope this explanation makes sense.

Can you do a tier list with just the D list. I would like to know what is the worst. I think it would be core ele D/D. No range, life, or armor seems super bad. If want dps I'll need dps gear with even less life. I have decided to impart my greatness on WvW and I would like to give you plebs a chance. If you think a class/build is worse... let me know.

There's a support barrier Specter build that provides good up time of protection quickness decent burst heals and mid-tier cleansing can also generate super speed on demand
