I didn't enjoy the end game though when it became farm these different armor sets that are only strong for the set bonuses. From what I have seen of people playing New World it also has that pitfall of farming different armor sets and that game design never seems to go well.

Gotta say, I wish DDO had a larger player base. Theres no game that I’ve played that comes even remotely close to the experience I’ve had on DDO. The aspect of reincarnation, you can level up to cap and then (using the same character) start back at level one as a totally new class if you want. And each time you do it, you get a specific character buff depending on the class you were previously. All of these buffs stack and each life you get a new one. This allows you to literally see the increase in power each time you make the choice to re level. Not only this but there are iconic classes. These classes start at level 15 and can be reincarnated at level 30. Not only this but the amount of options you can choose. You can splash different classes in with your primary class to get specific feats like evasion which helps when avoiding traps. Rogue’s actually ARE USEFUL. You can disarm traps, open doors, and unlock certain chests. Healing? Tank? DPS? Absolutely but there is no limit in how you can build your toon. There’s so many classes and races, there’s many quests and raids. If you don’t like the reincarnation aspect? There is a legit endgame. You can level a toon up to cap, enjoy the end game content as long as you want and when you want to try something new, you can TR all the way back to lvl 1 or even just to level 20. Although, lvl 20 reincarnation you’d be the same class but you can switch out feats. You could go from a two handed fighter to a single weapon fighter if you wanted. (Etc) Does the game lag? Sure. There are frustrating moments. But in my opinion the diversity of class and character customization outweighs absolutely every game that is out right now. There’s no battle pass, and it’s free to play. Sometimes they release all of the adventure packs for free (on certain holidays). I’ve only paid for 3 expansions right now of the maybe 4-5 out. I’ve also ran into some of the long time elite players. The community on that game is VERY welcoming to new players. Everyone is helpful, they’ll tell you what items to look out for or even how to tweak your build to be optimal for raids. If you’re interested, see me on the Orien server.

Regardless the game is amazing, and I mean amazing. Overall the game from me gets a 7.5/10 and it would be a 9.5 if it wasn't so grindy and didn't encourage pay to win.

Great video, something I always say about GW2: if it had used the holy trinity and released with a raid or two, it would have been, and probably still would be, the #1 MMO. It literally has everything else in spades, it just missed out on the hardcore teamwork aspect that most popular MMOs were/are known for.
@TheEightDomain23 күн бұрын
Why would u need the holy trinity?? That what makes GW2 stand out, Freedom GW2 has some hardcore teamwork aspect like the challenge mode of fractals, raids and etc, it still need a dedicated supports which is defensive and offensive supports.
@T0LMANAT0R23 күн бұрын
@@TheEightDomain you don't "need" a holy trinity to be successful, but the fact is that a very large part of mmo players actually prefer that setup for end game content because it forces players to fulfill a role as part of a team. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to switch roles between fights and such, but once the fight/activity starts, you have a "job to do", so to speak. Now, GW2 definitely has content that requires a sort of pseudo version of tank, healer, dps (high end fractals, challenge strike missions, raids, etc.) but it's not the same because there is no aggro control. Thus there is no real tank option, it's pretty much just dps and healer/support. Now, that is fun imo, and I do enjoy it, but I could see a much larger crowd enjoying these activities if it followed the traditional holy trinity set-up instead. It would have lured over a very large portion of wow and ff14 players, especially if the core game had Released with these end game activities to begin with. I love GW2 and play it a good amount, but I just think it would have been, and still would be, the number 1 MMO on the market if it had released with at least one raid and used the holy trinity system, even if just a little bit.

The reason why gw2 is so successful is because of the community, everyone is so friendly and helpful if you are looking for an mmo look no further than gw2
@RobGamer19493 ай бұрын
And also, GW2 does not demand $13 / month to just log in. And also, the combat is dramatically more fun than FFXIV (in my 12 years of experience). This being said, I fully support each person declaring their own choice of a favorite MMO. "Most Played" does not mean the best for you. YOU choose what is best for you. GW2 has a free version across a massive game world. AND, when you buy an expansion, don't worry about paying a fee to just log in to play. A monthly fee is the ultimate "Pay to Play" before you can "Play to Win".

Question for the comments: Out of all these games listed, or not, which MMO RPG has the least amount of monetization & fair amount of grinding involved? I’m not about to download 5 different MMOs to try if I’m gonna end up wasting my time, effort, and money progressing towards something that won’t bring me a sense of enjoyment as Destiny & Destiny 2 both have in the last decade. Looking forward to the replies!
@X3n0n363 ай бұрын
The one that fits your comment would be new world that only ask you to buy the game once and it's expansions, other similar entries would be GW2, Star Wars and Elder Scrolls but the last has more monetization than the other in the form of a cash shop. If you are willing to pay a subscription wow and FFXIV are at the top for a reason, they are very accesible and very fun if you like the combat mechanics. A personal favorite is osrs with only a members subscription you get a sheer amount of quality content, there is a barrier of entry by on the old mechanics but trust me it has a skill ceiling, it doesn't get stale. Eve and Albion are both grindy and p2w but really that's the appeal since the focus is on the player economy. But most importantly you want to avoid maple story and lost ark for the gridniness
@GeorgeStefanDan3 ай бұрын
Maplestory on a reboot server is fine (no p2w just grind) also not very beginner friendly with how much stuff it throws at you GW2 has a high entry price with how many extensions it has FFXIV is great and only asks you to play as much as you want the cash shop only has event items and cosmetics (it does have story skip and a boost to lvl but that's only useful if you want to get a second character though the story) Would give it a try and see if you like it (the trial has no time limit) TESO is pretty expensive and I personally don't like the gameplay that much BDO is very p2w (people say it's pay for convenience which in my opinion it's not) Lost Ark is also extremely p2w

Just want to point out a small mistake.. During the MapleStory segment, you state that it has 260million registered members and the only MMO to come close is WoW.. which is not true. Runescape celebrated their 200 million registered accounts... in 2012! It's fair to assume that this number has since increased and is either close to MapleStory's 260M or even higher. Good video, though!

Normally i am not commenting on youtube but this time i feel you treated albion very unfair. Its definitly not a pay to win game cause even though you can buy currency with irl money it doesnt make you a good player or let you win every fight cause the game is also skill based and additionally to that yes there is a monthly subsciption which gives you several advantages especially when it comes to leveling but you dont need to spend a single dollar if you dont want to cause you can just buy it with ingame currency aswell. Which leads me to my last point. If you make a comparison like that atleast make it fair. The gameplay you had running in the back was atleast 5 years old since then the game got a lot of changes and improvements in terms of gameplay and graphics. That beeing said still thanks for the informativ video and work you have put in.

Came back just to comment there's no way WoW is losing the first spot now after TWW. Aparently it is on a all time high since Wotlk. I haven't had so much fun in wow since legion, and I really love the game. I'm biased, but I can't see how any mmorpg can be as good as wow. But I will be trying FF soon just to actually compare. I think they might be good for different kinds of people. How I see it WoW looks more competitive and with a classic sort of toxic player. FF looks more casual and newbie friendly (please correct me if I'm wrong) and I've read reports that it is just as toxic as any other MMO, but it goes towards the toxic positivity. I really feel love for WoW and I'm so happy that it is back to being great. It will never be Wotlk again, but then again I will never be a child again either. Just like we grow up and change, we need to accept that the world around us does as well, and it does not have to be a bad thing. It can be (shadowl*nds) but it's not a must.

Albion is nowhere near pay2win. You can buy gold and sets but that doesn't make you good. People that do will just die in open world and lose that gear to skilled players. And if you do other content like arena, the gear level gets scaled down. Money can let you buy stuff, but that does not make you good at the game, just gives you more stuff you can lose quickly or its scaled back to be even. It is entirely pvp skill focussed.
@LuckyGhost3 ай бұрын
You just described literally every p2w game. Skill based and p2w are not mutually exclusive. P2w means that if two people of the same skill level fight, but one was spending money. The one who spent the money would have the upper hand. Pretty simple
@Omnissiah443 ай бұрын
@@LuckyGhost "The one who spent the money would have the upper hand" This is exactly what I'm saying is NOT TRUE in Albion. Spending the money makes no difference. You gain no advantage. To think otherwise in Albion shows someone who doesn't understand the game. In arena its scaled to be even, so makes no difference. In open world, you can pay for better gear, but still lose it easily because you don't know how to open world pvp. Most top level open world pvpers don't roam around in top end 8.3 sets even if they have billions of silver (earnt or paid for). There's no point, and its wasting money if you come across a group, you will die the same. To say it's pay2win is untrue and gives a false impression of the game. You don't need to spend a penny, and you can earn plenty, and have great success in ranked arena or open world. How can it be pay2win if you can win for free? Many do.
@LuckyGhost3 ай бұрын
@@Omnissiah44 my man, you're being disingenuous if you can't admit someone decking themselves out in the best gear every time they head out doesn't have an advantage over the guy that has to manually grind out gold and buy what he can afford. @Omnissiah443 ай бұрын
@@LuckyGhost It's different style's of fighting. 1v1 in a duel in a fixed space, and 1v1 in open world are so incredibly different. 2v2 and 5v5 are all different styles too. Even 5v5 hellgates and 5v5 arena have different metas and styles. I am not for a minute being disingenuous, I'm trying to explain these elements of the game that have been missed in your video and wrongfully just made out like 'it's all pay 2 win'. When you can play be successful without paying a penny. The person who decks out in 8.3 and relies on that to win fights, will be less skilled and lose as a result in the open world, yes possibly even to a 4.1 or flat 5 gear player. (There's whole videos dedicated to this style). They probably won't know how to kite properly / reset fights in open world, have the right potion or food, knowledge to switch as needed, and yes will lose. If they're in a small space 1v1 duel at the bank then ofc they'll win but that's not representative of the whole game. So it's wrong to paint the whole thing as that. I don't even play that, I mainly do arena, and again, that MASSIVE part of the game and climbing rating, is not really affected by the best gucci gear because of scaling. It didn't even get a mention in the video though. That's not uncommon as many reviewers who don't play just refer to it as a 'full loot game' and move on when many players don't even engage in that part so I understand and expected that oversight. Please don't try and write this off as untruthful because you don't like it dude, I appreciated the video and you're effort in it, but please just accept from someone who actually plays that you may have made a mistake branding it as 'totally pay2win'.
