Jeff, awesome seeing my two ski gurus(Jeff & Matt) skiing together! Matt is super nice and passionate about skiing like you. I get my skis tuned there. Awesome stuff and I like the voice over also. Oh Marcus Caston rips, that was cool seeing you ski with him.

Super fun meeting and skiing with Matt! We shared a lot of great conversations about skiing, content creation, and every possible tangent you can think of... 😉

The "good trail" you were looking for is a ski route (red rhombus with a dotted line on the map). These are usually ungroomed trails, which are very rare in Austria, and not a lot of people ski them.
@SkiEssentials6 ай бұрын
Thanks you! It's so different how trails are marked there compared to the states it was hard for me to understand whether that was in resort boundaries or not, or if resort boundaries are even a thing.
@fadekill6 ай бұрын
@@SkiEssentials You're welcome. =) Generally, the resort boundaries in Europe are basically the trail boundaries. The second you step off piste, you are basically out of bounds (i.e. they are not liable for any accidents, no avalanche control, no ski patrol etc.). These ski routes are the only "safe" ungroomed/freeride experiences you can get inbound. And yeah, it's very different. I learned skiing in Canada and going to ski in the Alps for the first time was a culture shock. I can't wait fly accross the big pond again!

would recommend taking out the in camera audio when doing voice over as it kinda smushes the audio than. Looked fun though.

Hey Jeff, what were you using for a camera on this trip? I like the wide field of view. Very nice format with the voiceover.
@SkiEssentials6 ай бұрын
It's a combination of a Hero 12 Black and a GoPro Max. Everything filmed POV is from the Max. It's pretty cool, but takes a lot more work editing.

hi guys, please can you tell me differences between Rustler 9 vs Anomaly 94? thank you
@SkiEssentials2 ай бұрын
Starting with the core, the Anomaly has more stringers of dense beech wood while the Rustler uses more lighter poplar and paulownia wood. In terms of metal, the Anomaly uses two full sheets while the Rustler uses one partial laminate. In terms of shape, the Rustler has a lot more rocker and taper, making it a better floater and more playful soft snow ski. The Anomaly is flatter overall, making it smoother and more powerful in a carved turn on groomers. Overall, the Anomaly is a higher-performance ski that weighs more, has more stability, and is more powerful. The Rustler is more versatile for most skiers, delivering solid carving performance but exceptional playfulness.

Great to see skiing in Austria but not cool to see content creators riding without a helmet or goggles. Please set a good example. 👍
@YehShano2 ай бұрын
😂You’re kidding right? Marcus Caston is the only one there on the second day without a helmet or goggles and he’s an elite professional skier, that terrain is a walk in the park for him and barely anyone around so there’s also no risk of getting taken out by an out of control skier…
@mertanen12 ай бұрын
@@YehShano 😂😂 Yeah, that's why Nascar drivers don't wear seat belts on an oval track.
@YehShano2 ай бұрын
@@mertanen1 🤣🤣extremely different scenario here
@mertanen12 ай бұрын
@YehShano How about if you vlog about driving and your fellow vlogger doesn't wear a seat belt? You can say that it's his choice. But when you show this expert on your channel, it's not the best example for the younger audience. I can see from all Ski Essentials videos over the years that Bob, Jeff, and the whole team always wear helmets. Kudos to them.
@YehShano2 ай бұрын
@@mertanen1 well if the driver is driving at a slow pace with no one around, I’d have no issues with him not wearing a seatbelt…snow skiing for leisure and driving fast are vastly different in potential risk really anyway…I’m not looking at these guys for setting examples either, our parents did that job and we can make our own decisions based on what we now feel risky or not…My uncle skied the Mallory route on the Aiguille du Midi Chamonix without a helmet…insane to me as I wear a helmet everywhere, he’s never worn one even once everyone started wearing them(they weren’t really worn up until the past decade or 2)realistically though if you fall on that route, a helmet isn’t helping lol..I don’t see Marcus skiing in this video risky at all and I had to rewatch to even pickup the glasses which again is nothing if he’s able to see fine which I’m sure he could
