Hi, the Seagull is a great car however, considering the limited charging infrastructure in much of the Philippines, it would have been better if there was the option for the 38.88 kWh battery. I would have bought one of these BYD Seagull's last week, if there was the larger battery option.
@huayyu12 күн бұрын
Which would you recommend? Byd seagull or wuling bingo?

BYD Seagull's ground clearance is 120mm (Toyota Wigo is 160mm). Considering barangay roads, squatter's areas, and subdivisions are fond of speed bumps/humps plus PH's flood-prone streets, the battery is in constant danger of getting damaged. This is not made for PH's roads.

Until they start selling basic, No Frills, affordable reliable compact EV cars for about 500K, this hype will never catch on. This should be a more cost effective alternative, but its not. They dont know how to market EV's in a third world country like the philippines so this hype will die down just as it is slowing down in the US and Europe. We dont need complicated EV's loaded with unnecessary features that makes the vehicle much heavier, consuming more battery power eating at the mileage and making its production cost significantly higher and making it more out or reach for the middle class. In a country with one of the highest electricity cost in Southeast asia. Same reason why small EV carts priced under 100K are selling like pancakes - Why? because they're efficient people movers. And if the middle class cant afford the EV cars, your alternative product is inevitably a bust.

You lack the intellectual sophistication to debate anyone or to even realize that I was talking about the Philippine market and the EV proposition that not a lot of people are buying into. Basically, the survivability of EV's depend on how quickly it could be turned into Mass market instead of Niche Market (Nose bleed? google ka muna). I dont expect you to get it, because it requires either a certain level of intellect or quality education - both things you evidently dont have. Maybe come back when you have enough reading comprehension and basic grasp of economics and marketing. BTW, Toyota is the #1 car company internationally whose company and product valuations are backed by wallstreet, banks, insurance companies and even the used car market. Unlike your commie cars that depreciate like stale 3 day old bread.

almost the same pricing strategy as the other BYD cars-almost twice the price from China. I think that it is a mistake considering a tiny car with a 900k price tag as most people associate a tiny car with a tiny price and near lowest of the car market are more price sensitive. This is more than 300k pesos more than automatic Wigo. I think the price premium of the Seagull should max at 150k above the Wigo.
@ptn245224 күн бұрын
The core message on pricing is: this is a sub-₱1 million car, as the distributor would say. They think consumers will collectively swoon over such a “budget-friendly” price. Buyers in this competitive price bracket are of course well-informed and know better. I doubt any of the automotive media pointed out the Mainland price, or asked how the local agent arrived at ₱900k. At any rate, this is a groundbreaking car and deserves all the success it gets wherever it is sold.

300km if no aircon use, with aircon your mileage drops to 170km The way I see it it’s a single person car to drive to work and back and maybe for groceries but if you have wife (like myself) and kid forget it. So for example someone who is single living in Cebu city wants to go out of town for weekend he’d have to face two issues like charging once he gets to point B where to charge and second so little room to bring friends with you on this trip unless of coarse they drive their own car then why don’t this single person tag alone with them right…. Philippines today just not ready for EV market as of yet unfortunately it’s like with internet it took about 10-15 years to get to same speeds (as close) in the west. Till that day comes surplus multicabs are great for its value, I’m speaking from personal experience. New fully loaded multicab is 270-320k and you can own it for 3-5 years then sell it for about 160-200k depending on a condition (in my case it’s like day one when I got it) so being able to own a vehicle and it cost you to drive it is about 20-30k per year and you can’t beat that with new vehicle. Drive smart folks.

EV's are supposed to be a longterm cost effective and efficient alternative to internal combustion engine cars but theyre not. In a third world country, the only EV's selling like pancakes are the mini EV carts priced under 100K. Why? Because theyre affordable, simple and efficient point A to point B vehicles that should have been the EV model. But they made a new technology that is still on its test market phase more complicated, bigger, heavier, loaded with unnecessary features draining more battery power that in turn uses more battery thats eating at the mileage and making it more expensive. Give the country a basic compact Wigo-like reliable No Frills EV with just power steering, headlights, AC and maybe an android headunit for about 500K to start the EV revolution. But they wont do it, so I dont see this hype catching on.
