Looks like Cadillac did great with packaging the Optiq and differentiating it from the Equinox. I want it.
@shawnwhite257215 күн бұрын
The best deal on the Equinox EV is the front drive LT with comfort package. It's not worth the extra $10-15k for an RS AWD, at least not for me.

Bottom line Chevy or Cadillac. When the price is that negligible, for me it would be Cadillac all day everyday.
@jimtaylor430216 күн бұрын
A great comparison with tons of information. I did notice that the 19.2 Kwh charging module for the Chevrolet is almost $300 cheaper than the 'same' charging module on the Cadillac. Does the Cadillac provide anything more to justify the $285 difference.?

No however you are not forced to get every other option package in the Cadillac (although is comes very well equipped as is) unlike the Equinox.

@@ronniemullis8717 they will in a black exterior. We tried getting the sport 2 all decked out but didn’t want to wait for Christmas to come against. Closest option was the Equinox near equally decked out (not in Canada). GM will get their money if you want all the fixings for sure.

I have been holding off on a Lyriq because I am waiting for a native NACS charge port. This is the standard going forward and I don't want to use an adapter(s) when I charge outside of home. I don't understand why GM is being so stubborn about making the switch, but if they won''t do it, I won't buy one. It looks like the Equinox pictured is not native NACS, so I guess the Optiq will be the same. Disappointed.

GM hasn't started installing native J3400 ports on their vehicles yet. Actually the only manufacturer outside of Tesla that has is Hyundai. Others should be switching over very shortly.

Yes, I have noticed that the higher end EV SUVs are a better deal than Equinox or Blazer EV's. Would love to see a real life size comparison of EV Optix, Equinox & Blazer. I have seen a Lyric parked next to me in a shopping center but not the others. Personally, looks like Cadillac SUV EVs are priced correctly where the Escalade is 4 times the price which is 🤦🏻♀️. Equinox & Blazer are over priced just like the Silverado EV.

Choice between the two comes down to being able to order them (or find them) we ordered the Sport 2 with the 19.2 kw charging, but they couldn’t place the order as our dealer stated GM wouldn’t allow the allotment. We ordered the Equinox RS AWD with everything including the 19.2 kW charging. The dealership dragged their feet and couldn’t get it. We drove to the next state over and found the RS and exterior color option (minus the two tone body/roof color) (minus the 19.2 kW charging) for $58,xxx and bought that. If there was a true choice available, we would have wanted the Optiq. No dice. Very frustrating. Happy with the 2025 loaded RS AWD with super cruise, heads up display, Sunroof, etc. but not happy we weren’t allowed to choose the Cadillac from our dealership. We tried to order the 2025 Blazer AWD RS with Super Cruise, and sunroof before the Optiq and Equinox, but the dealership again stated they were not able to order the Blazer in that configuration. It seems impossible to believe or accept we were not able to order what we wanted.

@jeffreyjohnson310316 күн бұрын
I had already been looking at the pricing and came to the exact same conclusion. The Equinox EV has the very reasonable $35k base model, but if you load it up the Optiq makes more and more sense. Edit: You forgot to mention that the Optiq warranty is 4yrs/50k miles vs. 3 yrs/36k miles on the Equinox EV.
@Nebula170116 күн бұрын
bumper to bumper, but also all EVs are covered under 8 years 100K miles for the powertrain.

Great point! I forgot that Cadillac still carries that longer warranty. Buick did for a short period of time several years ago.

Sounds like you'd have to be totally unaware to buy the Equinox over the Optiq unless you wanted the cheapest varient of the Equinox.
@CarsMadeSimple5 күн бұрын
There are certain configurations of the Equinox that could be better "values" but when it comes to the RS or loaded LT's specifically, it's a hard sell when they are priced so similarly.
@cwcjmg223316 күн бұрын
Just least a 2024 equinox MSRP 49,000 for 332 a month 27 months including tax and 2999 out-of-pocket. It’s all wheel drive. While the Cadillac might be a little nicer, you certainly are not going to get that type of price Out the door.
@CarsMadeSimple16 күн бұрын
No, because you are comparing lease numbers on a 2024MY which is heavily discounted because it is old inventory. 2025's have been on lots for several months now so all 2024 inventory is priced to move. Numbers will always vary from state to state due to possible state or regional inventive differences. I would not be surprised to see some fairly good deals on Optiq's not long after launch.

Still very early days for GM. Tesla, hyundai, and China is ten years ahead. They need to simplify the platforms on their next gen. They should buy the company donut and buy a battery manufacture now so they can catch up and leapfrog others. Donuts V2 inwheel motors are 800hp each. Buy they while you still can.
@Nebula170116 күн бұрын
You realize GM has more battery manufacturing in the US than Hyundai right? GM has their own co-owned battery plants. GM has been developing their own batteries, has one of the largest Battery testing facilities in the US. Also Hyundai has issues charging on 400V DCFC chargers being their vehicles are native 800V.
@TheLobo9116 күн бұрын
@Nebula1701 and yet they are not a global player only in USA. At this rate they will only survive if they stay on top in the USA. Certainly better than stellantis but they pack designs are way too cumbersome. 800v systems are the future and will charge much faster than 400. Hyundai is looking ahead. If GM has such amazing battery tech why are they always recalling their batteries? They are years behind the Chinese.
