You are so right about paying attention to trends more so after 50 for the very reasons you mentioned. When you are young, you can wear whatever you want. Does a son or daughter want to be embarrassed by how their mother or grandmother looks? Would they feel better if we just rolled out of bed, grabbed mismatched clothing, not fix our hair and makeup? It's not just about following trends, it's also about how to look appropriate for your age so you don't look ridiculous. Also, us petite gals have to work especially hard at finding the right clothing.

I'm 54 and I absolutely LOVE barrel jeans. I have a bunch that are the more extreme barrel (Free People Good Luck) as well as some that are more subtle (Nili Lotan Shon). You can pair them with a simple top and still look really stylish, because they automatically elevate every outfit. They're figure flattering, comfortable and fun. I always size up so they sit lower on my hips, and I usually wear them longer, except with certain boots, and then I cuff them for a more edgy look. When you wear them lower and longer, they don't have such a big barrel shape, they just look like really cute baggy jeans.

Absolutely. What we wear says so much about how we think. Noticing and adapting your wardrobe to reflect contemporary fashion trends that work for your individual body type and style communicates to the world that you do not think like an ‘old person’ you are someone who is naturally curious, adaptive and contemporary in spirit, usually very much still engaged with work, younger generations and life in general. I will be 55 this year and I am more interested in fashion trends than ever. Keep up the great work.

The barrel jeans looked nice on you! To me, they look like a boyfriend jean from chicos, like a relaxed jean. I like them better than the wide leg jeans. I am not a fan of those on anyone. I love jeans so this video is very helpful to watch! We have very similar shapes so its nice watching what looks best on you (in my opinion). There is nothing like wearing a comfortabls pair of jeans that are our favorites. I have also found I love Jcrew and chicos. I dont recall trying liverpool, but will try them. On you, i like the boot cut and slim straight, so my shape being similar, that helps me. You pull them all off though. I am 50 and love this channel, so thanks for the great ideas. ❤

I love wide leg jeans. With crop top crop jacket or very fitted top. With a nice belt. Shirt tucked in. And I feel comfy. Put together. I’m 62 size 4. 5’2’! I have 3 pair of barrel jeans from Nordstrom and Target and Quince. I get so many compliments. I add a pretty top and loafers and go to church, Theater and out to eat. Old Navy had some hi waist wide leg jeans on sale around the Holidays , i have 4 pair . Even from Walmart I have nice stove pipe Jean and wide leg too. I also wear Mary Jane shoes and cute tennis shoes all colors ☺️☺️

I'm so happy there are several different styles of denim out there now. You can choose what you like without feeling dated or out of style. I don't get why people love the skinny jeans...almost everyone looks awful in them...I love the slim straight ones though. I like all the Jean trends you feature here. But the barrel jeans are my fav. I have two pair, dark and light wash, from American Eagle. I also invested in some tan canvas barrel jeans from Everlane. I was skeptical until I tried these on, but I love them! They are slimming and can be dressed up or down; however, I think they look best with a cute pair of Mary Janes and a cropped sweater. I have also worn them in the early fall with wedge heel espadrilles and a fitted sleeveless top. Missing those warm days in SC today!
