When I was young my very stylish mother taught me to spend a little more and buy good, well made, versatile, clothing. I would rather have a few excellent pieces than a closet full of neon tops and ripped jeans! I have coats, sweaters, and slacks that are well taken care of and are 20 and 30 years old. I add a few tasteful modern pieces now and then. And when something is truly worn out, I replace it with quality. I always feel good in my clothes and not like a trashy teenager from H&M always ready for the dumpster.

Simple classic cut lines and colours never age, you can upgrade an outfit with minimal accessories for a more formal engagement, instead of changing your wardrobe every year. Which is expensive and environmentally damaging, buy quality and it will last!

I’m watching all these videos because I stopped buying clothes somewhere around 2018. With Covid I had plenty to wear indoors for the duration. And I moved from Alaska to Montana so all my colors had to change and the styles are different here. I’m really happy to see that we have KZbin to keep us up-to-date! And now that I’m looking at this, I realize we never dress like this in Alaska and I don’t see anybody here in Montana having these clothes either. So I guess we avoided the 20-teens? 😅

Most of these I've never worn anyways. The only "passe" item in your list that constitutes part of my aesthetic is the mini-skirt, which you say is being phased out in favor of midi/maxi skirts as of this year. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a good midi and the occasional maxi-but minis are a staple of my wardrobe and always will be.

Retired women can ditch dresses and other dressy attire, unless they're looking for a man. I wear active wear most the time and do online church like other friends in a quiet home environment. I wear casual neutrals and like dark wash denim shackets.
