This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2025 Genesis GV70 3.5T luxury compact SUV.
Head to squarespace.co... to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain using code MOTORMOUTH
The 2025 Genesis GV70 is powered by either a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque or a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6, 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, standard AWD.
What’s New for 2025? In Canada, there are no changes but, in the US, there are a few. All models now comes with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto and Genesis Connected Services. Unfortunately, Canada doesn’t get the wireless update and continues with wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Genesis Connected Services is already offered in Canada.
One of the standouts of the 2025 Genesis GV70 is the interior, it feels so upscale and luxurious. We are driving the top trim 3.5T with quilted Nappa leather with piping and trim pieces that give the cabin a feeling of elegance. There are plenty of different colour combos to choose from, the one in the photos is called Obsidian Black with Sevilla Red Nappa leather. Our test model has the 12.3” digital driver display, a sport steering wheel and the 16-speaker Lexicon premium sound system, it comes standard with a 9-speaker audio system.
In Canada, the 2.5T Advanced model starts at $61,000 CAD, 2.5T Advanced Plus $65,000 CAD, 2.5T Prestige $69,500 CAD, 3.5T Sport $74,500 CAD and 3.5T Sport Plus $80,000 CAD.
In the US, 2.5T $45,700 USD and 3.5T $58,300 USD. You can add packages to these trims for more features.
Genesis offers a warranty of 5 years or 100,000 km/60,000 miles. In Canada, complimentary maintenance is covered for 5 years. In the US, 3 years or 36,000 miles.
For fuel economy, the 2.5T gets 11.8L/100 km, 19 MPG city and 9L/100 km, 26 MPG highway. 3.5T gets 12.9L/100 km, 18 MPG city and 10L/100 km, 24 MPG highway.

Former Q5 owner with a 2022 GV70 2.5T Prestige that has the sport package that includes the 3 spoke wheel. Not sure I would have bought it without the 3 spoke steering wheel. Absolutely love, love, love this car. Great value for the money (looks, tech, 5 year maintenance and 5 year bumper to bumper) compared to Audi/BMW/MB.

I’ve owned four BMW’s including my 2024 X5 M Sport package. Three years free maintenance, 375 HP from B58 in-line six adaptive dampers and a great local dealership. My buddy in a suburb of Atlanta can’t find a nearby Genesis dealer and can’t get replacement parts readily. There’s more to car ownership than a logo, but Genesis still has a way to go, I’ll stick my BMW’s and Porsches. You get what you pay for!

I love Genesis’ SUVs, we own a 23 GV70 and recently got a 25 GV80 for my wife, Ang she love it!! Just FYI in Korea, the new GV70 already got a new interior including a new steering wheel and the same 27 inch infotainment like in the new GV80. BTW, when are you guys getting the 25 GV80!for review? I can tell for my ownership experience that is great. We tested the GLE and the Q7 and ran back to the Genesis dealer after realizing that the 25 GV80 is just a best all around product. You must test it!! This vehicle looks amazing, inside and out. It’s by far my favorite in the class. I would definitely get this one ahead of the upcoming refresh, which ditches the hood for the gauge cluster in favor of a large digital screen that encompasses the gauge cluster and the infotainment screen. For me, having a traditional tach and speedo under a hood is like looking at the dial of a beautiful watch.

What makes a luxury brand is also service and I’ve seen some horror stories from Genesis owners. I test drove the 2.5T, which has enough power for me and felt faster than the numbers, and I absolutely loved it! It was the nicest car I test drove in the segment. However, there are limited Genesis dealerships where you would get that “luxury” customer service. I don’t think you’ll find it at a Hyundai dealership. I would love to buy a Genesis but just can’t bring myself to do it for that reason.

@@kiwan5425 go and read some google reviews of “Genesis” dealerships in your area. The last time I spoke to a salesman at the 1 (ONE!) dedicated dealership in NJ, he told me that the only other one on the East coast (the East Coast!!) was in Florida. Tell me you’re going to get good customer service!!! I haven’t confirmed that but it was an actual Genesis dealership and employee so I took his word for it. A google search today revealed that there are less than 30 dealerships in the whole country, probably much less. Funny that something so simple is not easy to find out. The seats are part leather part alcantara and when you exceed a certain speed or put it into sport mode, the seat hugs you. On most Korean car reviews I rarely hear or read the mention of Kia Hyundai bringing on board several designers from Audi and BMW years ago. You do need to do more research on your own and realize how things work. A lot of Korean designers designed MBs, BMWs, Bentleys, and etc.. Does it make those brands heavily Korean influenced?? @@robertduklus6555 Never said that is how I would care for the car, just according to Genesis (Hyundai). Most people buying this luxury class do only what is required and drive on the perpetual payment machine. I always get at least 100K out of my tires and brakes and most people trade it in before this point if they are on the 4-5 year perpetual payment lease or ownership schedule. This car requires no more service than any other vehicle on the road. And nothing says you have to go to Genesis/Hyundai for it. Further, again all maintenance is included for 5 years in Canada (3 in the US). So there is no cost for the typical owner who keeps trading them all the time. Luxury owners that keep for the long term are few.

I think this Genesis will actually have a noticeable impact on the German’s share of this market. As more than 3/4 of German (premium) cars are leased… the world was very much different pre-2020… and all of these leases are about to expire (4 year). I think that when their next lease is negotiated, their customers will begin to cross-shop and price-shop and realize that their are competitors in this market (Acura, Lexus and Genesis) that offer better style, more technology and all… for a better price. At the end of the day… Money talks, and so many individuals are running out of it. I’m curious what this market will do in the next upcoming years. Thanks for the video.

My US$100K+ 2022 Porsche Cayenne has its rear wiper at the bottom of the back window - same as on the Porsche Panamera, Macan and 911. Audi and Mercedes SUV's have the wiper at the bottom of the rear window. So does the top Lexus SUV - the LX600. The rear wiper of my 2014 Sienna was kind of hidden at the top of the rear window but it was moved to the bottom of the rear window with the 2021 Sienna redesign.

The electrified version is built in my home state of Alabama. For some reason I think the gas versions are built in Georgia. I would personally pick the EV but I wish they would update the interior colors, I’m not a fan of white or black which is the only colors that is offered in the EV.

I tried to buy a 2023 GV70 a year ago. Unwarranted pretentious attitude at 2 dealerships (in a Hyundai store, but seperate sales staff), and almost no inventory to choose from. I bought an available Santa Fe Calligraphy with 90% of the features for $18,000 less. No bs attitude. I like the Hyundai fine after a year and 24,000 miles. I'll likely replace it with an X5 in a year or two. The Hyundai/Genesis dealership experience is definitely lacking.

Meh, Genesis pricing seems like it's exactly the same as BMW and Audi. A Q5 technik is 65k before taxes. A new one is being revealed on Sept 2nd. The brand new X3 M Sport trim is 66k. (BMW premium trim seems kind of useless now. A lot of items are included now) And the Genesis 2.5T Plus is 65k.
