Anyone curious about how the engine works, here how i understand it. There is technically a transmission but it's only switching between direct drive from the electric motor and direct drive from the 2.0l engine. If you are bellow 50 or 60 mph you will be running purely on the electric motor, and using the ICE engine to charge the battery as needed. Only at highway speeds (where the engine is most efficient) will it switch to direct drive from the ICE engine. This is because it only has one gear ratio (no CVT or anything) which is optomized for highway speeds.

The first hybrid Prius came out in 1997. I don’t know if I would say it’s the future.

It's just a stop gap until 27 or 28 when Honda goes all electric

@@jamesbarbato2192 Honda has made a Civic Hybrid since 2010, and stopped for a few years because they were also selling the Hybrid Insight (since 1999). They are now switching back to the Civic Hybrid. The Accord Hybrid has been around since 2005.

As long as Tesla's take an hour to charge, and cars take 5 minutes to fill up at the Grapevine driving from SF to LA. Yes.

I just wonder -- why they don’t open more of the lower front grille to air ?

Maybe it’s just the way the mic recorded, but the hum when y’all put it in reverse has an almost harmonic quality, like a church choir

You guys aren't giving Honda enough credit with this hybrid system. It's not just a regular old hybrid It's what they call a heavy hybrid. It can drive Up to 85 miles an hour and that regen that you say isn't very good is actually really good. It recharges that battery basically coming to a stop at a stoplight I'm getting like 45 miles of the gallon without even trying. And the new Civic refresh Is using the same exact Hybrid system as the new Accord. It's amazing

Love the look of the sedan. One of the better looking modern Civics, shame there is no manual option.

Apple Maps will transfer directions oddly enough, not Google Maps while using CarPlay. I also noticed that while using Apple Maps some details will be left out compared to built in option.
