Worked at Honda, Toyota, Nissan dealership as a operations manager before and I drive a... Subrau Ascent Onyx Limited after driving a Highlander and Avalon for 10 years. ZERO regrets!!!

Feels like a biased review. Test drove both these vehicles. Pilot is extremely noisy at high speeds, and the seats feel cheap and hard; not worth 60k price tag. The ascent handles like a much smaller vehicle and has a tighter steering than the pilot. Seats are extremely comfortable, and the cabin is way quieter at high speeds.

I've only driven the Ascent and can confirm it's very quiet and rides very soft, which I love 100%.

To your point CR rated the Subaru Ascent seats the best seats of all the entire 3 rows SUV. Even my best friend whom his wife have a Toyota Highlander admitted when he got a drive with me on my wife Subaru Ascent that ours feel much more comfortable than his wife’s Toyota.

Honda doesn’t have captain chair, period. You can take out the middle seat on the Honda but, it doesn’t arm rest.

Symmetrical all-wheel drive keeps the car stable, too. Note: as someone who has driven professionally in passenger service for two decades, you don't want to go hard in the turns you want to give people a nice, smooth, safe ride. The Subaru shimes in extreme weather conditions.

I don’t like this review at all. Yes I owns an Ascent but, I do like too the Honda. They are both great vehicles. The reviewer opinion is completely subjective. Base on what he prefer.

come on Cliff. 25 is a "slightly" higher horsepower number but 15 lbs-ft further down the rev range is a "ton"? Later on in the video you even mention that the Subie only feels slightly quicker off the line. and that's on top of you liking the Honda's driveability better. Don't get me wrong though, I enjoy your reviews...keep them coming!

It's more when the peak torque hits. The Ascent may only peak at 15 lb-ft of torque more than the Pilot, but all that torque is available further down the Rev range than the Pilots V6. You gotta Rev that Pilot to get to the torque peak.

Any advantage the Pilot has is in the price difference. Just bought a 2024 Ascent, LOVE IT.

I would pick the Pilot over the Subaru. It’s a shame Subaru did not tap into their great rally racing heritage. The Ascent has the essence of great design. Subaru really needs to focus on a sharper, rugged and bolder design on the next mid cycle refresh. And PLEASE add in some of that great WRX elements into the Ascent! Is the WRX the only vehicle that gets a sporty design? It’s 2024! Get a digital instrument panel! Be bold Subaru!

Subaru's "racing heritage" is from 20 years ago and even the new WRXs have only a smidge of that "heritage" evident in them. You have to turn to the aftermarket for more "WRC soul" for your Ascent (which is not the demographic Subaru is targeting in their 7-passenger rig. But a World Rally Blue wrap, gold wheels, and some neon yellow "555" decals will help you get there....Subaru didn't even get the 2.5RS correct (in my opinion) and missed a fabulous opportunity to bring their heritage ibto the modern era

was it me or did he start droning more than a CVT in the last third of video ☹️. Ascent Onyx/Onyx Limited is where it's at. Question, if Honda stretched the infotainment screen, wouldn't features on the far side be harder to reach? Of all the vehicles to put a table in, the pilot/passport is it; why not Honda? Were either of these two used an appreciable amount of time before rolling through the comparison by an actual family?

I like that Pilot keeps the naturally aspirated V6. Why even bother with a questionable turbo reliability and push a much smaller turbo engine to the limits and get the same mpg?

Fits 8 adults, drives better, better tech, better AWD system, similar price It's no contest. There is a reason why Honda sells 3 times as many cars as Subaru Subies are fine, simply not as good as Honda.

Well, if the Pilot infotainment and dash screen looks 20yrs ahead of Subaru that really lacks. Because many people on reviews Bad Mouth Honda as being behind. They not all tech like Hyundai or Kia with screens and gizmos.

What do you mean when you say off-road? You might not want either of these if you're going off-road. You might want something like a 4Runner. Neither of these "SUV" hold up all that well on real off-road. They are more like dirt road worthy not off-road worthy.

@boscokid9524 Don't but anything based off of what some random KZbinr tells you. Go test what's in the segment yourself. It depends on what you value. Technology, horsepower, space, gas mileage, pricing, etc. I prefer the GM twins in this segment but if I were going for power/speed the explorer st can't be beat. The Hyundai/Kia twins aren't bad either but are usually overpriced.

My wife had a 2017 explorer, and now a 23. Both cars have been shit build wise but have had 0 powertrain issues. On the 2017 the roof rails turned to jello and would not stay on no matter what they did. Even after the recall repair years later. Electrical issues with the USB, and A/C powering up on high on its own. Heated driver seat stopped working along with the right side heated mirror. 😢 I like them but they seem to have a lot of issues

@Que67kdro90 Honda or Toyota dosent make a minivan with IVTM4 Torque Vectorng AWD System. Also like the design of Pilot exterior No sliding side doors. Would take Unibody Suv over Body-On Frame.
