The tariffs that you are speaking about are only going to effect the cost of rods, reels, and tackle by about .70 per 100.00 at most. I don't think that will drastically effect the market at all.

Drilling has already been at record levels the past 4 years in America… most of our domestically produced oil is put up on the world markets for sale. OPEC sets oil prices therefore our domestic production has a little to no effect on our gas prices in America.

You can't blame the administration for the high prices of trucks, boats and fishing tackle. As long as consumers are willing to pay higher prices, and lenders are willing to finance them, then why SHOULDN'T the manufacturer & retailer set those prices?

How much of cost of materials and components is reflected in the price of energy. Lower energy costs reduce the cost of products produced. Plastic comes from oil.

If they don’t ban it, maybe push for FFS technology to be limited to a 45-degree angle so you can only see as far in front as the depth you’re sitting over ? If your in 10 feet of water, you could only see 10 feet forward. That might only help the deep water guys though. Probably a dumb idea . . .

never have i been in more agreement with you, except on the tariff issue. once upon a time, almost all of our fishing tackle was manufactured in this country. the Chinese wiggle warts suck, lots of local manufacturers and workers have lost their jobs, so that manufacturers could expand their margins. Maybe Cumberland lures should import your lures, so that both of you make more money. On the tariff issue YOU are just as self serving as the "Billionaires BOy's Club"! think about the industry and how it flourishes back in the 70's and 80's. i don't support trump, but the tariff thing is a great step back to a sustainable economy!

Have you been to Bass Pro or Bait Wrx lately? Doesn't look like there’s a shortage of crankbaits, etc., to me. As far as not being able to afford anything! This administration that's in office now has caused this inflation with their trillion dollar spending packages! I can't afford anything as it is right now. Hummingbird just pulled a shady move and discontinued all the Helix's and Solix's, and because of the current economy, I can't afford to upgrade to an Apex or Explorer! So good if they start hurting, maybe if guys stop buying their over priced stuff they'll come off their high horses and start making things affordable again!

Randy I respect you as a decent bass fisherman and your position on ffs but honestly where do you get off thinking you know anything about tariffs and politics? Seems to me there's more important things to worry about than having to pay a few extra dollars for a reel or rod or anything for that matter! What would a dirty bomb brought in the country by a illegal alien that wasn't properly vetted do to our prestige lakes and rivers let alone our loved ones? Just make it here 😆 The outlay of capital, for facilities, manufacturing and labor, to move manufacturing here is not going to happen. I like to ask my "build it here" friends why they don't buy their clothes made here in the USA. Answer- Well I can't afford to. EXACTLY! Consumers aren't going to pay double or triple of today's prices. Bait companies can't take a 60% hit to their bottom line and survive. The majority of hard baits are made in China. Outsourcing will be moved out of China, to Costa Rica, Korea, Vietnam, and Guatemala, to save 50% (60%-10% tariffs) of costs. A positive note is Lowrance products including FFS are made in Mexico and subject to 25% tariffs. Garmin products including FFS are made in Taiwan. The costs to "cheat" with FFS is going up.😀
