Great review! I think McLaren knocked it out of the park with the GT/GTS. Iron fist in a velvet glove. Mine had a rattle in the driver's side door when it was first delivered but the dealership quickly sorted that out. I've put quite a few miles on mine and so far my only real gripe is the cramped footbox. Consequence of the carbon tub. The GT gets some criticisms from car enthusiasts/pedants due to the naming, but there is some validity to those criticisms, it's really a GT by name only. End of the day it's a carbon tub mid-engined 200mph supercar with lots of leather and a (slightly) softer ride. If McLaren had named it something along the lines of Super Tourer, that probably would have ruffled fewer feathers.

Thank you for the review. I bought one at 12:01 a.m. the first minute it was available for sale last year.

Agreed and the used market is such a bargain on these for the time being.

I don't understand the purpose of this car at all. If I want a GT I don't need 600HP and I don't want to pay for 600HP. I want it comfortable, quiet, safe, work in rain and snow, and luxurious while holding lots of stuff. Lots of cars do that. If I want 600HP I want a sports car that stands my hair on end. I don't want a tamed down McLaren. My other issue is that all McLarens look too similar and the naming of each model doesn't help. I can't believe people walked into a McLaren dealership and told the salesman "You know if only it was less exciting and more useable for cross country driving I'd buy one".

I think this is a market segment stretch. Which is why I actually like it. I don’t want to, but ended up there. I really want a 720/750. But when you take away the high dollar features like active aero and more sophisticated suspension, and get to, what I think, is a much better price point, it means that this can do almost everything the track focused one can do on the road. So I get your point, what I’m curious on is the part about the 600hp. Aston is running this hp or more, right there with Bentley, corvette, Mustang, Ferrari, and even if Porsche runs less, let’s be honest it puts down the power to the point if feels like they lied 200hp low. I love my cars that run 300-450 hp to cruise in but it’s not just McLaren doing it. Even Supra did it right at 300hp but then nobody bought them. We don’t see enough. I’m now to the point of do I want a more comfortable super car, or do you want a front engine brick boat with gobs of hp. 🤷♂️. Thank you for sharing, I appreciate the view and candor.

As someone that owns two McLarens - one for track and this GTS, the latter is definitely a GT vehicle compared to the former. I'd take this over the Bentley GT any day.
