Probably it's an option. Back in 2014, my e350 V6 had a keyless Go package, that came with the button to close and button to close and lock option.

You can press the trunk open/close button on the key fob. You can push the switch inside the driver's door You can hit the button inside the trunk lid You can use your phone You can wave your foot under the rear bumper You can pull the trunk lid Are you referring to something other than these?
